Finding themselves as one of the only places to buy food, the group’s market has drawn a crowd, and a wary eye from the authorities from the very start. The detainment centers need to keep the food coming, while the economy crashes. Fuel becomes an issue as the virus and shutdowns cause shortages all across the country.
Actions Have Consequences
Rob had wished Angelica hadn’t put the beat down on Agent Kendricks, but he also knew his chances of stopping her would have been small. The group struggles to keep everyone safe and sane as the conspiracy slowly unfolds. The state’s governor also finds himself in a predicament, that leads back to the group. He, like many others, had gotten in the way of the agenda.
The Bones
More information comes to light about the bones, and the tale about buried treasure may have some merit. While picking berries, Harry trips over a find that will both confuse and sidetrack the group. With Dewie’s wife’s connection to Lyle, things are starting to make sense. All was going well until in the dark of night, events spiraled out of control.
The last book in this excellent series!! The pandemic thought to have originated in China. Actually it's point of origin? Sam Francisco. Intentional. Chaos reigns. A plot by powerful people to take control. The primary characters in this group live on a farm. They are self sufficient and immediately recognize want is at play. Non stop action!! An excellent read!! My highest recommendation!!
Things I like about this book (and series as a whole) - In many ways, it's easy to see how the events in this story could easily transpire. In many ways, we have been living through it....pandemic, riots, shortages, government overreach, corrupt media, etc. Unlike many books in this genre, the greater part of the military and law enforcement are not all corrupt warlords out to rape and pillage. For the most part, I could see how groups would gather to form self sufficient communities only to be raided by those who wish to "redistribute" what others have worked so hard to achieve.
What I didn't like about this story was a rather far fetched storyline about the USDA being some sort of commando branch subverted by the CIA or some other shadowy agency. I also thought it was a tad overplayed that the women of this story are all smokin hot badasses who can kick everyone's ass (aka monkey stomp) and outshoot Annie Oakley. Finally... the POV of the dog? Ummm....
Anyway, a good story overall. It has it's warts, but it's completely worth the time.
I chose five stars because there were not ten! I loved the series and always look forward to anything by this author. If the potential apocalypse can be funny and dramatic, then it is covered in these books. The characters are hilarious and deadly. My favorite are the DOGS. I have always admired farmers and doctors, so I was in hog heaven.
But seriously, it's coming and clearly this author sees it as I do. If you want to know what IT is, then read and be amazed.
Talk about a series that at one time would have been totally fiction but now is crossing into real time life and could be’s. Definitely things that you would think could never happen in the good ole US now make you think is a real possibility. The characters are all people that you feel like you really know or would like to get to know. Boyd has a way of really drawing you into the storyline and getting lost in the book before you realize hours have gone by. Love the ending on this one Boyd, lol. Good one!
This series is great. My heroes are Ranger Roscoe and Harry. I recommend to anyone who likes apocalypse adventures. I've read several of Boyd Craven books. I always enjoy the larger than life dogs! I hope this world never gets this far off course but there would be done people who would survive. Some of this storyline is so near what is happening these days, it's scary!
Hoping there is one more The Farm to see what else might happen to Rob Angel Harry and the dogs and other friends.
First of all.....What is a " monkey-stomping ass kicking?"
Now the review. A much anticipated read. I enjoy how his books echo what is happening in our country today with the political unrest, the different agencies scrambling for more power, law enforcement having their hands tied and less freedom for the people.
Definitely recommend this whole series, actually ALL of his books!
Boyd Craven delivered another fantastic story. I also want to thank him for the LGBTQ+ representation. I’ve only read one other author who has a character or a few that represents a lot of queer folks in the prepping community. We’re not all like Bailey though he described someone who probably looks like me. Except more tatted up and I can handle things that go pew. I’m definitely going to be letting ALL my friends know this is a great series. I can’t wait for book 4.
Better & better! I LOVE this series! Good action, plausible storyline and great characters! Good use of real-time headlines to make the story move. Its frightening how the current government still believes they are in the "right" with the unconstitutional dictates they are shoving on the people. Hope there are still good guys around, we need to have the hope of truth prevailing. Write faster, Boyd!!!
Although I have a bit different political perspective than this author, and even disagree with him on several fronts, I still can see his point on many issues and think he is an awesome writer. His plots are just wild enough to be believable, his characters are always cool and his dialogue is so funny and well done. I always drop what I am reading when I find a new book by Boyd Craven III.
Fun book that sucks you in to the family of characters. Can't wait for the next one. However, there are so many names and relationships that after four or five months I can't t put them back together again. What a courtesy it would be to give a glossary of characters and relationships at the beginning of your book. It took me 75% to figure them out this time. Takes the fun out kinda. Or we could all monkey stomp you for wasting our time.
Craven has once again knocked it out of the ballpark. In this offering, the residents of The Farm learns just how far the deep state is willing to go, and it isn't good. Angel is quickly becoming my favorite character. Great plot with plenty of twists, good dynamic characters.
I'm so glad there was a third book. It is such a good story, I don't want to stop reading. But there has to be another book coming. I can't wait! These people on the farm are awesome. And there are remarks all through all the books that make you think this is what happened here in 2020. I personally cannot wait for the next book!
Boyd Craven is a talented storyteller who creates realistic storylines for his well developed characters,. Humor is laced throughout Craven's books, in addition to action, and teaching of preparedness techniques. Never boring, this book kept me up at night with resulting loss of s!esp. Don't miss it
I liked the books because the story line was weaved into present day events. Although few of us have the resources for this type of operation as the farm environment set up, it shows that within us we have the heart, strength and power to come together and help one another in times of chaos caused not only by personal greed but by our own government.
Winning! But I did want more. Names, positions in government. Thank you, Boyd for bringing all my fears of COVID, protesters, human rights violations, government over reach to a story both believable and scary in it's possibility. I am not a prepper, but this last year has made me much more aware of personal vulnerability and lack of self survival.
Excellent follow on story continuation of this very believable and frightening possibility for our country today. Obviously building upon the events of the last few years of turmoil and mistrust between the far right and left with the majority of us looking on but unable to stop it, it changes the future.
The Farm, book 3, Behind the Curve... I have read these back to back...they are messing with my mind. It looks as though there is only one more book; it's not enough. The very last line of this book...I think the character is speaking to the author...cute.
I enjoyed this book as much as have the first two books in this series. Every page is filled with action or overviews of what can be done to prep for a collapse.
I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves action packed novels that overcomes an over-bearing government with patriotic defiance.
The first book had me hooked! The second made me want to drive cross country to join up with these amazing people. This third book had me gasping and crying and praying and yelling out loud. So SO good. #dammitboyd Hopijg for a fourth installment but alas, I shall not hold my breath.
Once again a fabulous series by him. It keeps you turning pages and waiting for the next wild loop happening. You never know what's just around the corner. Loved all 3 in the series and waiting for the next. Dammit Boyd
Boyd Craven's The Farm Book 3: Behind The Curve is a book on the Must Read list for anyone who likes lots of action. His series always keep me waiting for the next book! Great characters and good plots make for great reading!
This is just so so good! I smiled! I laughed out loud! I could literally visualize big strong guys shaking their heads in fear or amazement! Start to finish its captivating! Read it and weep cuz book 4 isn't out yet!
Oh, so f!ustered right now! Dammit, Boyd! How are you so good with the suspense? Just enough to keep us wanting more. Please tell me why you are not on the number 1 bestselling list?
, but this was an amazing continuation of this series. Trouble definitely seems to follow the farm, but allies continue to appear and all continue to support the light. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I loved this book by Boyd Craven lll. I also loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of this Boyd’s books. I listened to this book on audiobook.
Sprinkled with mysteries, this is a fun read. Well plotted with characters you care about, the stories unfold in a pleasing manor. No, not a large house, but great settings.
This book starts as every Prepper’s dream. The perfect bug out place and lots of money. Then it all falls apart. The characters were something special and you want them to win.
This was another post apoplectic thriller. The characters from the farm are funny and likable, even the dogs. Again this was a book I could hardly put down. I can't wait for the sequel.
