3 months. 90 days. 2,160 hours. That's all it took for my world to fall apart. My life had always been so certain, I've had a concrete plan for as long as I can remember. Until the day I was accepted into Westwood University. Until I let anger morph my actions. Until I opened the gates of hell. Until him. His eyes are what first caught me, I was a fly in his web. Once I was bound in the threads, I was doomed. I let him consume me, all of me. I was in too deep when he told me the truth...
Alexandria James is a new paranormal romance author, but you'd never know it by her writing. I was sucked in from page one to a relatable world where vampire and magic exist. The heroine, Ezlynn, reminded me so much of myself in my early twenties, it was scary... She's logic driven, focused, and doesn't believe int he supernatural (although, let's be honest, she was team Edward in her twi-hard phase). All that changes when she rings a bell and literally opens the gates of hell... oops. It's all for the best because if not for that momentary lapse of judgement, our drool worthy hero (Phoenix) wouldn't have escaped. Let me warn you, if you have children, some of these chapters should not be read in their company because they are HOT. Draw you a bubble bath and enjoy those chapters by yourself or with your parter. I made the mistake of reading them on my lunch break. It killed my but I had to shut that book fast! All in all, this is a great paranormal romance that will hook you from page one. The writing is exquisite, the characters flawed and relatable. My only complaint is that it ends on a cliffy and that I have to wait lord knows how long for the next installment, but I have no doubt in my mind that it'll be worth it. 5 fantastic stars for this one!
Ezlynn Mitchell never believed in the supernatural. Things like ghosts, werewolves, vampires, and zombies were not real. She was accepted into Westwood University which apparently changed her life forever. On campus, they were told about the sacred bell that was never to be wrung. They say it opened the gates to hell, and so many demons escaped that the town was almost completely slaughtered. So of course she scoffed loudly at that. And she might have been the one who rang that bell just to prove a point.
She met Phoenix and they became good friends. Savanna told her if she choose a life with Phoenix, because it seemed she was heading that direction, she needed to be aware that it would be hard. Things would be complicated and messy for a while, and eventually he will have to go back. She needed to understand what she would be getting into. His dad was a psycho and not to be messed with. And it was good his dad didn’t know about her.
The good part is that we get to see Ezlynn and Phoenix fall in love. The characters were intriguing and had a very real feel about them. This was an unusual story, but you won’t be bored!
Ezlynn was desperate for a change, and her life changes forever when she enrolls at Westwood University. Who knew that ringing an old bell would result in everything she once thought she knew being turned upside down? Overnight she finds herself thrust into an unbelievable world whose existence she had previously doubted, and an unusual romance suddenly become a part of her new normal as she attempts to wade through a sea of lies, deceptions, and supernatural occurrences that she had once believed beyond the realm of possibility. WU is both an action-packed novel that will keep you gripped until the final page, and a sweet paranormal romance that will have you fully invested in Ez and Phoenix's love story; and the author did a magnificent job of bringing to life this unusual cast of characters. A definite must-read that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout, WU receives two very enthusiastic thumbs-ups from me.

Ezlynn has her life all planned out. She just applied to a grad school and set on studying as hard as she can, so she can cure cancer and no kid has to watch his mother die like she did. She is hyperfocus so much so, that even her past relationship suffered. She logical and doesn't believe in any kind of supernatural.
So in a little act of rebellion against the supernatural belief, she rings the forbidden bell and opens the gates of hell. The only good thing that comes out of it, is that she has a new guardian, Phoenix. Their chemistry is on fire and soon they get together against all odds.
It's an intense story, full of twists and turns and steamy romance. :)
It's a page-turner, constant suspense, the kind of book that is very hard to put down. :) Only complaint, I had a very hard time like Ezlynn...
Ezlynn is not happy with her life so she rings a bell and opens the gates of hell. This book is amazing. I was very intrigued by this story. Once I got into reading about the characters and the strange things going on and the supernatural stuff, I could not put it down. I loved it!

An interesting cast of characters made for a good and entertaining story. I knew as soon as they said what not to do, that she would try it. The author made her relatable even as she made her a bit predictable. The rest of the story was very interesting with its paranormal aspects.

This book is so captivating! I seriously couldn’t put it down. This book has an amazing story line and pulls at all of the heart strings! I really will be recommending this book to everyone I know
The story was kind of interesting but so many little things/phrases kept taking me out of the story. (Characters not reacting the way I'd expect, someone saying 'I will' vs "I'll", etc). It was also taking a long time to get going. Overall I just felt I was working too hard to keep reading. Dnf 37%
A desire for change leads a college student into the paranormal world and plenty of action all around. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book. The banter, the puns, the sweet relationship between Phoenix and Ezlynn. It was the perfect book for a nice morning of reading.
