"I have heard far too many stories of patients who were not taken seriously when they told their doctors that they were sick. They were ignored when they asked for more in-depth testing and ridiculed when they asked about things like Lyme disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, vaccine reactions, rare diseases, autoimmune diseases, or vitamin deficiencies. Far too often they were told that their issues were psychological and psychiatric medications were prescribed. They later learned that their conditions were physical, not emotional, but it often took years to get a proper diagnosis.
I believe we need to take a different approach, which I call 'patient-based root cause medicine.' This approach puts the patients' needs first, rather than insurance company profits. It works by actually listening to patients and figuring out what is truly happening and devoting sufficient time and energy to addressing all possible causes, whether they be physical, emotional, or spiritual."
( And for a renewal of my curiosity and fascination with Carl Jung! :D )
