I have been following this author's YouTube channel for a while (Prepper Princess). I wanted to see if she advocates some of her more extreme frugalities in her book. She definitely doesn't go as far in the book as she does on YouTube. There is some good advice about how to get out of debt, save, and invest. There are some things she does that not everyone can or will want to do. For example, not everyone is a size medium, so shopping for clothing at thrift stores may not be possible. I personally wouldn't want to make my own soy milk or almond milk, or make my own laundry soap. I catch things on sale whenever I can, but in my opinion she takes being thrifty a bit - no, a lot - too far. But if that is your thing, this will give you a good start, and watching her videos will give you even more ideas.

I couldn't give this book four stars because there were too many errors - misspelled words, missing parts of sentences, etc. The book needs a good editing, like so many self-published books. So read it for the information but if you're a grammar nerd like me, be prepared to wince frequently.

I have followed the authors YT channel for many years now and I guess this was a fitting book to finish 2021 off with.
As a person who is currently struggling to make ends meet, I always am on a look out for solutions. And despite the fact that this book is not a UK based guide it was very helpful and even inspiring at times. It gave me many ideas I can implement in the new 2022 year and gave me a bit of hope. What can be better?!

Good Frugality Tips

I was raised with many frugality tips, but these really made me think a bit more than I recently have on what is truly necessary. I am beginning to see that much of my consumerism is unnecessary and foolish. Read this book and think about the ideas presented. The ideas are practical and helpful.

I have followed this lady's Youtube channel for years. I have watched this story develop so I did not learn many new things in my read of her book. Most of this is a compilation of her Youtube videos over the years. I love her story and she has inspired me to do things I would not normally do. She also has made me realize that most anyone can change their financial situation if they put enough effort into it. Her story is sort of short. I know she has a wealth of knowledge and could make this a much longer book if she had the time. She does address some areas not typically addressed in these sorts of books. One tip I got from her was using elastic clips on the back of my shirts if they are too big. I can wear this under my work jackets and it appears more fitted and neat. I believe this is an excellent first read for someone trying to gain the courage to take a risk and change their life. She has several times. Amber is brave and I encourage you to read her story.

This is NOT a helpful book!! Better research on prices of things and living in the real world needs to be done. Not everyone can live in mommy's basement. Waste of my time!! This book is an example of pure dumb luck and inheriting your way out of debt.

A beginner's guide for those wanting to save $ but don't know where to start.

Short and mostly to the point. There are things I can think of that were missed here and there, but this is still a really comprehensive list of places everyone could start in order to save money. Examples of mised discussions: Sometimes I think it would be smarter to invest in your health and healthy eating than to eat as cheap as possible. There wasn't any discussion at all about the role taxes play in stealing money from you. There wasn't any discussion about what to do to keep kids happy in a money miser situation. Yeah, it was a good easy read and a place to become motivated to start reading. Reading this book for free on Amazon's free 30-day Unlimited Prime subscription that I immediately canceled so it won't renew. Yes, I have tricks up my sleeve to be cheap, too. This book is good for those who don't have any idea where to start, and a short read about how the author got herself into this mentality and practices what she preaches. Goo look up her channel Prepper Princess on YouTube for more how to save ideas in and beyond this book.

If you are first jumping into frugal living, this may prove a valuable, and short (60? Pages), resource. It is filled with American statistics on everything financial, wrapped into how the author applied that information into her life. The author is very purposeful driven. When she sets her mind to something, she goes for it.

The book has a lot of grammar errors and one spelling error that made this former desert rat wince (Mojave, not Mohave). As a whole, I didn't glean anything from it. However, I've watched Prepper Princess for years on YouTube and one thing I can take away is that she is good at saying what she needs to say, no nonsense, get to the point, and move on. In that sense she reminds me a lot of my sister and how she loves these kind of things that just are short and snappy and get to the point.

Again, all in all, I am not taking anything away, but I can see how this would be a useful tool if this is your first dip into frugal living.

Interesting Advice

I watch this lady’s YouTube channel and really enjoy her advice. I enjoyed the book, she’s based in America while I’m in Australia so I have to adjust most of it plus she’s single whole I’m married with a family.
The take away is that if you’re willing you can do anything.
I do think it’s over priced however but I still give it 5 stars. Thankfully it’s in KU which is why I was able to get it.

Thanks PP :)

Frugal is as Frugal does.

My parents were products of the depression. I am the youngest of 6 children. My mom bought day old bread, used coupons and gave us basic meals that filled us up. We bought school lunch one day a week, usually on Thursday which was hamburger day. Twice a year they would order half a cow, that the butcher would bring to the house all done up in white butcher paper. My mother would take the master list, write the names on various cuts then put them in the chest freezer that sat in the back end of the garage. Check off the meat as it was used. My dad gave the boys buzz cuts in the summer. Always ways to save money, but we never felt poor. My mom did two loads of laundry each day and hung them on the clothesline to dry. Love the smell of sun dried clothes.

I follow this author's YouTube Prepper Princess, so I knew this book would not disappoint. It did not. I wish that high school students could read this book. Knowing how to live on one's finances is a skill that is not really taught, nor modeled well. Amber gave the bare bones ways to legally stretch that dollar bill until it screams. She covered novel ideas about daily cleaning, clothing, housing, how to buy a home, how to remodel a home, and how to eat what you love, but a lot cheaper. I hope she has more books in the series. This book is an easy one day read, but I suggest you take notes.

A breath of free air

I wonder why self help books are so popular? This is not one. Rather, it's a guide to what Amber has done wanted how none of these tips are rocket science.
Dilute your soap, don't wash clothes so often you ruin them and use your time, and money wisely. Amber is no super human, because as she says, we can do what she does too, but it's a super read. Thanks Amber. Shane, Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland.

An interesting introduction to a concept

This is not a comprehensive guide. It’s an introduction to the concept of living on almost nothing. The examples given are anecdotes from the authors experience. I’m okay with that until she goes into some arguably questionable nutritional advice, but that’s admittedly my opinion. Read this book if you’re looking for a launching pad into the concept of living frugally. It’s only 69 pages after all.

Fun, quick book with easy to implement strategies

I enjoyed Ms. Storck’s sharing of her life experiences and valuable insight on how to not be part of the rat race.
I’ve always been a frugal person in general because I don’t believe we were born to consume then die. Just as she suggests in the book, I make a game out of frugality and it’s quite fun. I believe it’s better for our planet and also better for our souls.

Fantastic Ideas

I watch Amber on YouTube and was excited to see her mentioning her book. I have followed many of her practices for years. We are able to survive off $1000/month and it is totally doable. I worked hard in my youth and retired at 52. No debt, own 2 vehicles (our 1 luxury, one is an antique) and we eat well. It's all about your attitude and willingness to be happy with basics. Take a chance and you may learn much from this book, I know I did!

awesome!

That were plenty of ideals that I loved, including the ideal on just reading the back of the washing detergent, and that have saved me money. I also love the ideal about just turning off the AC. However, she didn’t really go into detail about making sure that is still work, if and when you decide to turn it back on or if you will have mold, rolling or how to properly clean it that would’ve been helpful.

Good for beginners

If you watch her YouTube channel Prepper Princess, you will learn that not only she talks the talk, but she also walks the walk. She talks about ways for people to cut down on costs from using their local library for books to even finding free entertainment ideas. The book may be short, but with time, I can see Prepper Princess expanding it to include more frugal tips.

Just another book about going back to basics

I was disappointed with the content and suggestions of the book. There was nothing new presented, beyond how to make laundry soap. The book seems to be paced over just a short period and is a tad stark in terms of extreme cost-cutting. The good news is it was short but really now worth the cost if you were to buy it. Grab it from a library for a quick read.

Delivers what the author said it would.

In the book , the author says this is a quick read, intended as a personal reference for living frugally (paraphrase). It does exactly that. Concise, engaging, and full of practical tips, it's a great reminder to keep working toward your financial goals. It's not always easy, but worth it.

A Very Great Resource

I love the tone of Prepped Princess's book. I could read more books of hers. There are so many things I can take away from this book and apply it to my own life. Prepped Princess is someone that is down to earth and someone to relate too. Great job & I can't wait until your next book! Thank you for your wisdom and advice.

Fantastic

Super easy read written in the straightforward Prepper Princess style. I begin to think the main idea in her book and YouTube videos is really about retraining your brain to not equate spending money as “living” life. So much of what we spend money on can be reduced or outright eliminated while still enjoying our work and time.

short, but interesting and challenging

I found out about this by stumbling across her YouTube videos. Amber eats on $30 a week. I was so intrigued that I’m going to adopt some of her ideas. I liked the few recipes for laundry soap, toothpaste, etc. I’ll try them too! After reading this book, I’m challenging myself to finding my own challenges.

The "bare" necessities

I saw one of the author's videos on YouTube and was fascinated by the way she was living, so down to the bare necessities. We can all use this today. Less WASTE. I also appreciated the facts told about college education. So on point! I would recommend this book to EVERYONE.

Good Reading

Many things discussed I already knew. I just hadn't put into practice. Now to start living more thrifty so I can save more money. Living on less then I make. Time to declutter my life. I no longer want to live normal. I want to get rid of debt and save on expenses. This book will help you do that.

could use editing

This book could do with editing and work on formatting. Readers might find a few useful ideas of ways they can live on less money, but the author has some extreme practices that won’t work for everyone. Such as working 2 jobs from 6 am to midnight daily, or living on oatmeal and coffee drinks every day.

I read this book purely out of curiosity. I don't know the author and I live in Europe, so few pages in, I knew I couldn't use most of it. But I liked the way it was written and to tone of it and I vibed with the bookand the author and finished quickly. It just reminded me how much I don't get US lifestyle. Anyway I would certainly read another book from her.

Everyone Who Wants to Eliminate Debt

Reading this book was like sitting with a like-minded friend with the same goals...wanting to get out of debt.
It was a easy read, easy to implement skills to get out of debt. Mine only debt now is credit card debt but this book teaches you how to maneuver your way through it all.

Good Ideas

I enjoyed reading the book, but I couldn’t help think throughout that this woman lives alone and has very little interaction with people. I’m guessing it’s much easier to implement these ideas if you are only responsible for yourself. Maybe that’s her target audience, I don’t know.
