A full-color picture book celebrating boba and Asian culture! This hardcover book is intended for ages 3-6, but can be enjoyed by any boba lover. It features 32 pages and a fun and whimsical rhyming story describing the many amazing reasons why boba is so great! Perfect for a short and sweet bedtime story!
This is available in two editions: English edition and Bilingual written in Traditional Chinese, Pinyin and English edition.
It's cutesy, but it's very shallow, and the translation is incorrect in several areas. For the age range where kids are reading a picture book, talking about caffeinated matcha and mocha and milk tea is less useful than juice, smoothie, and yogurt options for boba; I feel like many phrases were put in just to force a rhyme in English (do kids really care that boba is gluten-free?).
I don't think you really learn anything meaningful about Taiwan or Taiwanese cuisine from this book. It could have been so much deeper and more interesting than it is. It could have gone into more depth about how boba is made, or what desserts you can eat boba in (mentioned, but no illustrations or examples).
The text is a cutesy rhyme (in English - I don’t think it rhymes in Chinese, based in my rudimentary reading of pinyin), which did come off as a bit forced in a couple of places, but no more so than many traditionally published books I’ve read. It tells about what boba is (chewy tapioca balls), where it comes from (Taiwan), and how it is enjoyed around the world. The illustrations by Dhidit Prayoga are very cute and colorful. I think it will appeal to kids who either already love boba themselves or like learning about food.
This is an international book taking place in China! The young girl featured in the story tells the story of how boba is made and why she loves it so much. This book would be great to use in the classroom when discussing international cuisine and China as a whole. I would love to read this book and then bring boba in for my class to try. This book would be a great step into discussing cultures and comparing different aspects of them.
I Love Boba by Katrina, this children's book intended audience is for individuals who love drinking boba tea or tea in general. This book can also be for individuals who are curious to learn more about Boba tea. The key theme of this book is Asian culture and boba tea. I selected this book to be part of my shelf because of colorful the cover of this book looks and how cultural it sounds. The book is short and exciting to read!

It has cute anthropomorphic bobas! Of course I had to read it! Adorable illustrations. Not a mind blowing book, but I’m just thrilled there is a picture book all about boba. 🧋
It was great! It teaches kids about a popular Taiwan drink called Boba. Good for a first grader . Just wish it was slightly longer with more words and sentences for the kids
