⭐️USA Today Bestseller⭐️ Ashley Farley writes heartfelt stories about women navigating life’s challenges. Her characters—mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives—face real-life struggles with resilience and grace. Best known for her Sweeney Sisters series, Ashley’s books have touched the hearts of readers far and wide.
A wife and mother of two young adults, for more than two decades, Ashley has split her time between Richmond and the Northern Neck of Virginia. Yet, a piece of her heart will always belong to the South Carolina Lowcountry, where she draws inspiration from the moss-draped oaks, coastal cuisine, and the warm, welcoming spirit of its people.
Lowcountry on My Mind is Ashley Farley's newest novel, and it's about two old friends who both experience immense challenges in this story of family secrets, friendship, love, and fresh starts.
Amelia has been the perfect wife her abusive husband has demanded for far too long, and she’s had to sacrifice many things, including a closer relationship with her mother. But when her mother dies unexpectedly, she flees to her childhood home on Palmetto Island to make a new start. She won’t let her husband call the shots this time—no matter what it takes.
Being home in the lowcountry is revitalizing, as she gets to reunite with her two best friends from childhood. But as she reflects on what she lost through her marriage and she readies for her husband to find her, she has to deal with an unexpected visitor from her past.
Meanwhile, her friend Max has her own set of crises. Anxious about the renovations her hotel sorely needs, she’s waiting for her loan to be approved by the bank. At the same time, she’s realizing that the impulsive relationship she fell into isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but her boyfriend isn’t interested in ending things. And trying to get rid of him might prove more costly than she realizes.
Both women will need all of their strength to overcome some of their greatest battles. They are both facing dangerous enemies with the potential of destroying everything, but will the support of friends new and old be what they need?
Through participating in Kate Rock Book Tours, I’ve had the opportunity to read a number of books by Farley, and I’ve loved every single one. I devour all of her books and I wish I could be where her books are set!! She has such a talent for storytelling and creating gorgeous, gorgeous imagery.
Lowcountry on My Mind is the third book in her Palmetto Island series and it’s another winner. (You could read each as a standalone, but it probably would be better to start at the beginning of the series.) I sat down to start the book and the next thing I knew, I was finished. She writes such great stories.
Thanks to Kate Rock Book Tours and Ashley Farley for a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review!
Palmetto Island is now one of my favorite spots and a place I would like to visit and maybe live. The people seem to be friendly, caring, and inviting. Well, most of them anyway.
We meet Amelia, a friend to Birdie and Max when they were in school, and she is back to bury her mother and escape an abusive relationship. But as we know, it is hard to escape an abuser and this keeps Amelia on edge. Not only does she have to worry about her husband, but there are also strange things happening at her mother's home and she is seeing strange lights in the apartment over the garage. Then there is a woman that seems familiar that makes an appearance at the funeral. While you will be able to guess who this person is, the story takes an interesting turn as Amelia remembers more of her past and a certain situation that could change her life.
The story also focuses on Max and her attempt to revitalize her hotel. It is in disrepair and needs a major overhaul. This leads her to Davis via Birdie. He is new to the island and looking to build his reputation as a contractor. I like how they play off each other and build a friendship. This is a boon for Max because she tends to get involved with the wrong people and she has one of those "wrong" men in her life and he is hard to kick out. She will be in for some trying times thanks to the freeloader.
I have always loved this author's books and this one added just a bit more suspense and mystery than some of the others. I think the last 10-15% really had me on edge wondering how the events would play out and would there be the happy ending I have come to know and expect? You'll have to read the book to find out.
We give this book 5 paws up and can't wait for the next in this series to see how things continue for all those that have coupled up in this book and the previous ones.
Ashley Farley has done it again . This is just an incredible series. This is my favourite series and I just can’t wait for book 4. This time we we’re introduced to a new character Amelia the late daughter of Mrs Dotti. Amelia is running and Max is dealing with serious issues. This Island has a strong community. I highly recommend this series. Would make a nice summer read.
Ashley Farley seems to gets better with every book. She engages the readers right at the beginning and her characters somehow manage to capture the heart and emotions of the readers.
This book, #3 of the Palmetto Island series includes an element of suspense/mystery along with just the right amount of romantic sparks. If you haven't read the first two, I highly recommend you do, however, there is enough backstory about the main characters to fully enjoy this intriguing story.
Max and Birdie are lifelong best friends and to their delight, another of their childhood friends, Amelia is in town. However, Amelia has come home because of the death of her mother. The convoluted route Amelia took to arrive on Palmetto Island is her attempt to keep her final destination from her powerful and abusive husband.
Because her mother was in excellent health, Amelia begins to suspect there is more to her mother's death than simply dying in her sleep. While staying in her mother's house she sees some strange flickering lights outside and uncovers secret information about her family that has been well hidden for many years. A sister who mysteriously disappeared when Amelia was 8 years old and hasn't seen since makes an appearance.
Max is in the midst of applying for a loan and selecting a contractor to complete renovations at her hotel. As her plans progress an unexpected tragic event occurs that nearly lands Max behind bars.
Birdie is busy with the expansion of hours at the Birdie's Nest Cafe to include dinner. She has hired a new chef, Sydney whose menu items are very well received, although the new chef seems to be somewhat secretive This book is intriguing from the very first page until the very last page was turned. Now the wait is on for the next book in this series.
So thankful for KateRockBookTours for putting Ashley’s books on my radar. This makes number 6 that I have read and they all blow me away. I am loving the Palmetto Island series and looking forward to the next book in the series.
Ashley Farley writes books about women for women. Her characters are mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives facing real-life issues. Her books are Southern fiction and her descriptions make you feel like you are there with her characters. One of the main things that I like about her books is that many of the characters are mature women who are facing problems in their lives - family, boyfriends, husbands - and learning how to be stronger and overcome their problems.
Birdie and Max (from the previous books) had been friends with Amelia since school. They stayed in Palmetto Island while Amelia disappeared up north with a rich husband and what appeared to be a perfect life. What was going on behind closed doors was anything but perfect. Amelia's husband abused her both physically and emotionally. She tried to escape once before but he gave her the worst beating ever. This time her mother has died and she is determined that she will go home and follows a convoluted plan to escape. She knows that her husband will come after her but she is determined to win this time and will go to any length to avoid going back. When she re-connects with her old friends, they are totally comfortable with each other but her two friends don't know the potential danger Amelia is in. Along with the main plot, Max is living with a man she isn't comfortable with and has asked him to leave and Birdie is starting up a new restaurant in town. Plus Amelia has a sister show up that she never knew about. All three women are facing major problems in their lives -- have they all become strong enough to take care of their obstacles that are facing them?
As with all of Ashley's books, once I read the first page, I know that I will keep reading until the end. This book has family and friendship, a bit of mystery and a bit of romance along with a plot that will keep the readers glued to the story until the end. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Happy one-week anniversary to Ashley Farley @ashleyfarleyauthor 's Lowcountry On My Mind, and thank you so much to Ashley and @katerockbooktours for having me on this incredible tour and my gifted copy of this book (plus some great swag!) in exchange for an honest and unbiased review!
I fell in love with Ashley and her writing two years ago, and Lowcountry (Book 3 of the Palmetto Island series) might just be my new favorite! Imbued with the Southern charm and romance I've come to know and love from Ashley's books, Lowcountry also mixes in a heaping dose of suspense and mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seats!
I loved reconnecting with Birdie (one of my favorite Palmetto Island characters), but I also liked how she played more of a secondary character in this book, allowing the story to focus more on Max and Amelia. These women are incredible forces to be reckoned with, and I tore through this book in less than 24 hours, needing to know how everything panned out. With the perfect mixture of strong female friendship, suspense, mystery, great writing, and a sprinkle of romance, Lowcountry On My Mind is not your typical beach read - it's even better!
Although this book can easily be read as a standalone, trust me when I say you'll want to read Muddy Bottom and Change of Tides first! And while you're at it, try Ashley's Hope Springs series or one her standalone books - you really can't go wrong with any of her writing! As for me, I'll be grabbing her Sweeney Sisters series (the only one of hers I've yet to read!) to tide me over until August 3, when Sail Away (Book 4 of the Palmetto Island series) hits shelves!
This is the third story in the Palmetto Island Island Series but could be read as a standalone. If you want a richer story and more developed characters, I suggest reading this whole series, it’s wonderful! I can’t wait for the fourth book to be released!
Ashley Farley sure knows how to write a southern family drama! Amelia is trying to escape her abusive husband and Max falls for the first guy who expresses interest in her without listening to her instincts. These two stories collide into a wild ride of mystery, murder, arson, and drama! This story was juicy, explosive, and intense. I could hardly put it down! If you’re a fan of southern women’s fiction pick this one up!
I love anything this author writes. I love all her books. There are just so heartwarming. This had me all over the place. My heart beatting so fast! I couldn't believe what I was reading. If had me in shock. Every page, every chapter was a page turner. I couldn't believe my eyes what I was reading. I highly recommend everybody get this book and read it. It will surprise you in every way.
What a great read! This had me hooked from the beginning. The sitting, theme, and the Characters had me pulled in. Everything was well put together and it was just perfect. This novel did just that to me. Highly recommend everybody get this book and read it. Its so good! Can't wait for her next book.
Book three in the Palmetto Island series (could easily be read as a stand alone) finds childhood friends Amelia and Max each facing difficult challenges, reunited and supporting one another. This is a wild ride of a book! You'll fall in love with the characters and the setting immediately! With believable storylines and a well thought out plot, Ashley had me on the edge of my seat! By the time I reached the 90% mark where the two parallel storylines converged and climaxed, I knew I wouldn't be putting the book down before I finished it. Totally missed my bedtime and was tired the next day at work but so worth it! (I'll never learn 🤦😅) Ashley Farley's books just keep getting better and better! They're like potato chips, you won't be able to stop at 1, they're addicting 😁
I read this book in a day. I just had to keep going as it was so good and so much happening. Ashley Farley is a wonderful author. The characters are like every day people with warm friendships and relationships. I could just see the home on the point and taste all the scrumptious food from the cafe. This is my favorite book in the series. It’s fast paced with a lot of mystery! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Once again, Ashley Farley has written a book that I just didn't want to put down. It is more that Women's Southern fiction. Lowcountry on My Mind has two suspense/mystery storylines. Ms. Farley writes about strong women who overcome obstacles and bad relationships......each character is role model for women who are marginalized. There is no need for me to give a summary of this novel since anyone can find it on the internet. All I need to tell you, this is a fabulous book and a must read if you love fiction for women. Ashley Farley, thank you for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Author Ashley Farley takes readers back to the Lowcountry of Palmetto Island, South Carolina and they are in for a dynamic visit! Farley has quickly become a welcome voice Women’s Fiction. While her stories are set in the South, they definitely are written in a way that is inclusive for women regardless of whatever region you may reside. Farley’s books are written about women for women. She writes about the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful of mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, best friends and mortal enemies since time began relationships. She writes books that entertain, make you think and touch your heart.
LOWCOUNTRY ON MY MIND (a Palmetto Island Novel Book #3) finds best friends Max and Birdie still living life to the fullest each and every day. Readers are introduced to their long, lost other best friend from high school whom they really haven’t seen much of since graduation. Amelia is in town because her Mother has passed. Birdie and Max are looking forward to getting reacquainted with their friend. What Birdie and Max don’t know is that Amelia is also on the run and has been harboring a dark secret for many years. Unfortunately, the husband everyone thinks is so wonderful is far from it and she has been working on an elaborate scheme to escape from him for quite some time. Each of these three women finds themselves in some type of type of serious trouble and once again realizes the importance of being surrounded by the love and strength of her friends.
This is my favorite book in this Series. Farley has created lots of excitement, suspense and romance surrounding her characters. Her writing is so on point and keeps your attention so that you find yourself totally engrossed in her plot and before you know it, you’ve read half of the book! So then there’s nothing to do but finish it all in the same day! It really is THAT GOOD. Farley makes her characters and their situations seem so real that you feel as though you are there in the room with them, actively participating in the drama.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the author/publisher. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
-I feel like a broken record every time I read a book by Ashley Farley because I ADORE her writing and can never find anything negative to say. And coincidentally, every single book is my favorite until I read her next one 🙈. I have to say though - the way that Ashley seamlessly blended the women's fiction genre with a little bit of mystery and a dash of romance in this book completely floored me.
-I'll go out on a limb and say that this may be her best in the series so far. I've enjoyed the evolution of Birdie's character so much, but appreciated that she only played a minor role in this storyline. The reader is treated to both old and new storylines which make reading a book series in its entirety so fulfilling. Amelia is a brand new character and the one I have probably liked the most. She was real, she was broken, she was honest and SO strong. This one focuses on spousal abuse, but Ashley does a great job of steering away from the actual acts of abuse and more-so touches on the physical, mental and emotional toll it can take on a person.
-I am really loving Southern fiction as the summer season begins to approach and this book is filled with lots of drama which will engage the reader from page one. I find it nearly impossible to set a book down by this author once I begin reading. Her books are the perfect escape and are extremely wholesome and well developed. It's a goal of mine to read all of Ashley's back list because I love her writing so much. Definitely add this book to your TBR because it will not disappoint!
This coming June 2021 will be my third anniversary reading Ashley Farley's books! I'm so thankful to Amazon for saying "Looks like you'll love Ashley Farley!"
It started with Sweet Tea Tuesdays and last night, it ended (for now!) with Lowcountry on My Mind.
I stayed up late to finish this one!! There is so much going on, and you just can't rest until you know how all the storylines will end.
Birdie and Hannah were not the main characters in this book as they were in the prior two books of this series. However, we still witness the amazing friendship between Birdie and Max. They are there for each other through thick and thin!
But this book - enter Amelia - a friend of theirs from many years ago. She's running away from an abusive husband right into the midst of a troubled sister whom she has not seen for many years. Does Robin want money? The family home? Will Amelia's ex-husband find her?? Why DID Robin run away all those years ago??
We also pull for Max as she's accused of a horrible crime. We think we know who did it, but I found myself at times wondering "but was it........" Turned out I was wrong, but that was part of the fun of the novel.
I love Ashley's books. As I say in all of my reviews - she is not a 'cookie cutter' author. Even in series books, the stories are all very different. Life throws a lot at her characters - but isn't that how life really is??
I highly recommend this book, but be careful that you are not almost done too late on a work night! You won't sleep til you're finished!
“To stop dreaming would be to give up on life. And we can never give up on life.”
Such a beautiful quote that just stuck out to me!
But let’s first start this off by saying that Ashley Farley is a magician when it comes to books. This is the third installment in her Palmetto Island series and when I tell you it’s a must-read series I MEAN IT!
I fell in love with these characters from the beginning and I love the changes they go through with every book. Farley’s writing is a masterpiece of hope, love, struggles, and that southern charm you didn’t know you needed. 😉You get it all when you read her books. As a reader, you are completely immersed in the setting and the characters. I adore reading these books!
Plus I think Amelia (or Ashley ) and I have the same taste in wine because I also enjoy a glass of Whispering Angel Rosé 🙋🏻♀️
I went into this one thinking it was a women’s fiction but it reads as part of women’s fiction, thriller, and mystery. I loved this book it was so different from the rest in the series. There was so much suspense that left me unable to stop but not wanting to finish! The addition of new characters was so interesting and I liked Amelia. There are so many great friendship themes in these books that it makes my soul so happy. 💗
I cannot wait for the next book, Sail Away. If you haven’t read any in this series start it now! Muddy Bottom is the first in the Palmetto Island series and is free on Amazon. So grab yourself a copy and start because you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Kate Rock and Ashley Farley for a complimentary copy. I voluntarily reviewed this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Lowcountry On My Mind By: Ashley Farley
REVIEW ☆☆☆☆ To date, I have yet to read an Ashley Farley book and not love it. Lowcountry On My Mind is no exception.
In this story, Amelia returns to Palmetto Island for a couple of reasons. First, her mother has suddenly died, and second, she is fleeing an abusive and controlling husband. Amelia is not, however, naive enough to think her husband will never find her. It's just a matter of time before Amelia will be forced to contend with the situation. Beyond this, Amelia has misgivings about some things, and her apprehension only deepens with time. There is an excellent atmospheric vibe of mystery and intrigue throughout this book, and it works well.
Another resident of Palmetto Island, Amelia's old friend, Max, has troubles, too. An impulsive romantic relationship has led Max into a frustrating situation. The question now is how to remedy it. Max is an entertaining and sympathetic character who maneuvers through uncharted waters as best she can.
Amelia and Max are strong women, and reliance on this strength, as well as courage, conviction and intellect, is vital to achieving their goals. Lowcountry On My Mind is endings, beginnings, starting over, saying goodbye, embracing the now and the power of coming home. Through her insightful and engrossing tale, Ashley Farley touches the heart and feeds the soul of every reader.
Ashley Farley has done it again! Another winner in the #palmettoislandseries. This is the third book in the series. The first novella is available free on Amazon!
The series continues with the same characters. But we meet Amelia in this novel- she’s escaping an abusive marriage to a man running for Congress. She comes home to Palmetto Island after her mother passes away. Because of her husband, it’s been many years since she’s been to Point Pleasant (the name of her family home.) She is reunited with Max and Birdie who we have meet in other books. Max is trying to renovate her hotel and dealing with a failed relationship. Birdie is still working on her sobriety and her new cafe.
Amelia notices that food and clothes have been going missing from her house and sees a woman wearing her mother’s dress one day. She figures out this is her estranged sister, Robin, who she hasn’t seen in 45 years. She has come home to contest the will! Something isn’t right with Robin and Amelia digs in her family history for the truth.
There’s so much more to this story. There’s a murder mystery plot and an arson investigation! This one definitely bite off more than the other books, but it still has that same southern charm we have come to expect from Ashley’s books. I’m so excited there’s a fourth book on the way!
Thank you to Ashley Farley and @katerockbooktours for my copy of the book.
I wish I could give this a hundred star rating....it is that good! Ashley Farley has a way of writing that pulls you into a book and you don't want it to end. Lowcountry on My Mind is a suspense woman's fiction book set in South Carolina. We are back in Palmetto Island with Max and Birdie but a long lost friend has come home for her mother's funeral...Amelia. Max is having some problems with her boyfriend and the hotel she is running. Max ends up in some trouble and I was anxious to see where the story was going....it didn't disappoint. Birdie has added to her bakery and opened up a cafe which she then adds another element to her business and it's going great so far... Amelia, the long lost friend, resides in Boston with her overbearing husband but when her mother dies she has to go back to Palmetto Island and take care of a few things. Being away from her husband has been good for Amelia but being home has caused some bad memories coming back... You have to read this series so go and get it at your library or bookstore...
Brilliantly done and I loved every word! I am anxiously awaiting the 3rd book in the series...it can't come soon enough!
Thank you to Bookfunnel and Ashley for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy for an open and honest opinion...
LOWCOUNTRY ON MY MIND is Book 3 in the wonderful Palmetto Island series by Ashley Farley. I loved the first two books and couldn’t wait to get back to the delightful characters and setting of Palmetto Island. Although this book is part of a series, it could easily be read as a stand-alone. That said, I highly recommend reading the whole series. They are all so good! In this story, there is plenty of intrigue, suspense and romance to keep you engaged from beginning to end. Lifelong friends Max and Birdie are back and they are facing their share of challenges, but they are supporting one another fully as has always been the case. Another of their childhood friends, Amelia, has returned to Palmetto Island for the funeral of her beloved mother and to try to break free from her abusive husband back in Boston. Strange things are happening at Point Pleasant, Amelia’s mother’s home and long buried family secrets are soon revealed that impact many lives in this tight knit community. This is a story of strong women facing difficult obstacles that rely on the power of their friendships and their sharp intuition to persevere. The wonderfully-portrayed characters feel like they have become my own friends and I can’t wait for what comes next in this series. I enjoyed this heartwarming story of friendship, love and family and highly recommend it. Thank you to the author for providing an early copy to read and review.
Honored. I feel so honored to be able to read and review the new ARCs by Ashley Farley. Her new book coming out is Lowcountry On My Mind. It is book 3 of the Palmetto Island Series. Muddy Bottom is book one and it is free! If you haven’t downloaded it and read it yet, you don’t know what you are missing! It is a heartwarming series of friendship and love of long time friends.
I have loved everything I’ve read by Ashley Farley. She writes wonderful Women’s Fiction. In this installment Max is accused of Arson when there is a fire in her hotel. Amelia has lost her mother and is planning an escape from her abusive husband. Birdie’s Cafe is expanding to offer fine dining at night so, all of the friends have a lot on their plates. There are some new characters and more planned for the best installment named Sail Away.
There is a little suspense, some mystery, a little danger and a new relationship or two budding. I love this series and hope it doesn’t end for several more books. Time will tell. I highly recommend downloading the free book and then reading the next two before May 11 when Lowcountry On My Mind comes out. You will thank me for the advice!
I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. Thank you, Ashley Farley!
In this, the third book in the Palmetto Island series, Ashley Farley brings Amelia back to the Island. Her mother has unexpectedly died and, while she is mourning her loss, she uses her death as an excuse to escape from her abusive marriage. Her childhood friends Max and Birdie live on the island and provide support for Amelia and each other as they deal with the danger from her past that Amelia faces upon her return and with their own struggles.
The book tells the story of three close-knit friends who support each other in times of stress and in times of joy. They are mature women with more than their share of problems but with the strength and support to overcome. I love books with main characters that are 50+ but not treated like old ladies. These women lead vital, interesting lives and, while it would be easy for them to throw up their hands and give up, blaming the men in their lives for their problems, they don’t. They keep on keeping on and I love it.
This is a series that I will return to when I feel overwhelmed by life, to remind myself that, with strength and support from friends, anything is possible. I look forward to reading the fourth book in the series.
I received this book from the author. The opinion is my own.
After reading so many of Ashley’s books, one would think I’d grow bored of her beautiful destinations and heartening stories. One would be absolutely wrong. Ashley is one of my favorite authors, she’s a master at what she does and I hope she never stops writing. Thank you to Ashley and Kate Rock for giving me the honor of being on this book tour. Always a blast!
This is the third in the Palmetto Island series and alas, it does not disappoint. This is the story of three best friends, one who has been out of the picture due to an a abusive husband. Three best friends all going through a bit of a mess who come together to deal with the heartbreak and difficulty that life has thrown them. It’s also the story of a beautiful place called Palmetto Island, that makes me want to drive to the South Carolina coast and just enjoy the scenery.
This is women’s fiction, this is the kind of reading I can spend a whole weekend doing. I absolutely loved it and I know you will too! You can grab the series prequel, Muddy Bottom, for free so you can be introduced to these really amazing characters. This is a definite must read. Let me know what y’all think!
Wow!! This is the best book in the series. I couldn't put it down and it was so exciting. Ashely Farley's books are wonderful and suspenseful with wonderful characters that captures your emotions and your love of her books. In book 3 childhood friends reunite in an explosive tale of family dysfunction and romance gone wrong. Amelia has been plotting to escape her abusive husband for years. When her mama’s untimely death provides an unexpected opportunity, she hops on the next bus to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Her husband will eventually come for her. But she’s prepared. Her freedom has given her confidence to face her uncertain future. She settles in at her family’s oceanfront estate to await her destiny. But a visit from Amelia’s past presents danger in a different form. After a string of disastrous blind dates, Max falls for the first guy who expresses an interest in her. As the weeks wear on, her attraction to Ron wanes. But he’s living in her apartment. And he won’t be so easy to get rid of. You will love this book and I highly recommend it.
Ashley will take us on a wild adventure as three friends reunite and get reacquainted. Life has a way of making things happen, and we have to figure out a plan of action. That is what happens to Amelia, Max, and Birdie. Max, Amelia, and Birdie make decisions that have different results than what they ever expected. Ashley takes this opportunity to show us sometimes the decisions we make have results we never would have thought about. But, we have to go through with what we are facing. The challenges the women are facing feel unsurmountable, but when they come together and talk about things, a new plan of action can be put into place. It isn't smooth sailing, it challenges them, they have to give up going it alone, and reach out to others and ask for help. As their life goes on, they learn more about themselves, they see themselves a little differently, and it changes them.
I have to say Ashley Farley knows how to capture your attention from the beginning to the end. She has a well developed plot. The storyline has believable, likeable and interesting characters that pull you through the story. She has multiple stories going yet leaves nothing missing. She ties it all together with many twists and turns. It makes you wonder what will be next. You plan on reading a few chapters and the next thing you know you are compelled to continue reading this suspenseful mystery set in the southern heat and the book is finished. The characters of Max, Birdie, and Amelia will remind you of your school age best friends. They reunite, get reaquainted and stand up for one another like no time has passed. They prove the challenges we cannot do alone, with the support of friends you can move on with your life. This mystery has a touch of romance and I highly recommend this book.
I love Ashley's stories and particularly adore this Palmetto Island series of hers. And each book is better than the one before. Such exciting stories!
Lowcountry on My Mind brings together three best friends who have lost touch with one another. Amelia just disappears out of her friends lives years ago but comes back home to get away from her husband, at least for a little while. As the friends reconnect, life gets crazy and a little bit out of control.
This one definitely has a more intense storyline that kept me going, flipping those pages to make sure everyone was going to be okay. All sorts of bad stuff happens to this group of friends. But there is plenty of good, as well.
I loved this story and am super excited to read book #4 which comes out in August. Ashley has created a wonderful world on Palmetto Island and I love visiting there. I highly recommend Lowcountry on My Mind and this whole series!
Ashley Farley writes wonderful stories about characters who I always seem to find myself invested in. Book 3 can be read as a stand alone but like all of Farley's series you won't be able to just read one without wanting to read the whole series, just like eating a potato chip you'll want more...😉
Lowcountry on my Mind introduces us to Amelia who lost her mother. The loss of gives her the perfect opportunity to leave her abusive husband. Her husband is the kind of abuser who will seek out his wife. As she reconnects with her friends they're unaware of the danger Amelia is in which could potentially put them all in danger. We catch up with Birdie and Max who are facing obstacles of their own.
I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery of this book it really was a great page turner.

The third book in the series introduces some new characters. It also takes a dark turn. "Amelia has been plotting to escape her abusive husband for years. When her mama’s untimely death provides an unexpected opportunity, she hops on the next bus to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Her husband will eventually come for her. But she’s prepared. Her freedom has given her the confidence to face her uncertain future.
