THE STRUGGLES ARE REAL

A lot has happened since the baby’s left the womb, but things are only just starting to ramp up! Where does this oxygen delivery go? What’s that mysterious white liquid pouring into the stomach? Oh no, a bacteria invasion again?! Wait, how come the IgG antibodies from the mother aren’t working?! But they were just fine before! Everything is a confusing learning process for these young cells, from patching up diaper rash wounds to digesting breast milk. But they gotta pick things up fast if they want to protect the baby’s body. It’s yet another hard day’s work for the little ones!

Again, the volume is full with the adorable little cells working hard to complete their tasks together, even if there are inevitable changes in the body they are in. ❤️

There are also some flashbacks that will undoubtedly make you think they are the cutest. And, of course, there are funny parts! 😁

This volume covers the reabsorption of primary urine in the kidneys, diaper rash (injury + platelet involvement and immune system response), IgG from mom no longer functioning and then disappearing (baby begins making its own), first baby food, and some flashback stories to when F first met Red Blood Cell (RBC).

As usual, there is advice for parents in the informational boxes. I continued to get a chuckle out of the baby's cells wondering about the mysterious being (parents!) who must be watching out for the body they're in, since there are times that things turn out okay when there's very little the cells can do for the body they're in themselves.

The body all these cells are in is growing up, and we're seeing it in how the cells function. Everyone is learning to do their jobs better and more efficiently. The help provided by the mother's cells (IgG delivered to the fetus via the placenta) is starting to fade away, but it's okay, because everyone's been preparing for this time without realizing it.

I love the "nice lady from the placenta" character and how she's basically a mom stand-in. Yeah, there are elements to anthropomorphized cells that are kind of weird, but I have to admit that my heart squeezed a little when F and Nice Lady did an "in the air pinky swear" (because the mom's blood and baby's blood can't mix).

Another wonderful installment in the Cells at Work! Baby series. It's so interesting to learn how our bodies work (and the differences in a fetus/baby compared to an adult) in such a cute way.

This manga once again continues to teach and educate its readers in a way that's fun an entertaining. The characters are cute and adorable: The platelet that wants rides is a mood and my favorite character. It can be a little repetitive, especially when they always say to do their best and working together is a bit old, but I still enjoy it and as I've read Cells at Work, it's interesting to compare what happens in that series to how the fetus/baby handles things. Because in every little character introduction it mentions that Bearing hemoglobin F gradually decreases, I have a feeling that something will happen to F in the final volume and I don't know if I am prepared for that.

All in all, I enjoyed it. It was informational, fun, a bit repetitive but still a good learning and reading experience.

Baby's body continues to adjust to life outside the womb. Red Blood Cell learns how the kidneys work, the immune system has to adjust when mothers IgG stops working against invaders, and we learn how F and Red Blood Cell met.

I continue to love how this series teaches real anatomy facts in an engaging way. Biology and Anatomy teachers in HS take note! F drives me crazy sometimes, but his heart is in the right place.

Notes on content: 2 minor swears. No sexual content. There are battles between immune cells and bacteria/viruses. The violence is kept to a minimum on page.

I really like this one gave a couple flashbacks to pregnancy and the baby's development. It was something I was surprised the first volume didn't do, but glad to see that they include it in this volume.
I'm curious what will happen with F, will his f letter fall off when his hemoglobin decreases to a regular red blood cell? Or is it a different fate altogether? Dun dun duuun.

Everything I said about the first two books of the series still applies. By this third book in the series, it is getting a little repetitive and informational. The characters seem a little too cutesy and the way they keep talking about working together and doing their best is getting a bit old.

Not as strong as the first two but still good. I like the new cell that appears and the two bonus stories, but otherwise it’s still nice. The art and characters are as likable and enjoyable as before. It’s nice to see all the cells become more confident in their jobs.

pretty nice :)

First half is good, but there is a lot of padding and retreading in the back end even for this franchise.
