This fourth edition of Best Easy Day Hikes Olympic National Park features concise descriptions and easy-to-follow maps for thirty-one short, manageable hikes. Veteran author and hiker Erik Molvar describes the best routes for those who have limited time or abilities, without missing out on the area’s scenic majestic spires, Pacific coast beaches, and a rare temperate rain forest ecosystem.
It's good enough that I bought it, which says something. He offers a bit of history, context, and info about plants and animals on each trail, unlike most similar books, and I really liked that. I live here, but I learned. It's a small book but not with type too tiny to read. A list in the front ranks the trails by difficulty, but it would be even more helpful to use a chart that indicates distance, elevation, etc.
A compilation of relatively easy short hikes (most are less than 5 miles) with few interesting looking hikes that aren't in the other Olympic National Park FalconGuide (such as Mount Zion and Elk Mountain).
I haven't hiked any of these yet, so this rating is subject to change after I make my trip out to Seattle.
This maintains the same great standard that Falcon Guides have, with a nice variety of day hikes, covering most big sections of Olympic National Park. Definitely coming in handy for planning purposes.
2021.46: Helpful at identifying short, easy hikes in an easy to digest quickly format. At times directions not clear and not always the best at giving the why this is wow.
