This is a great little book that allows one to get to know many of Colorado's Characters as well as many corners and alleys of Colorado's history. I'm a big fan of what I call the marginalia of history, and this book is filled with nuggets.

Interesting read with such characters that sound familiar because something is named after them but you didn't know the person. The snippets are just enough for an introduction and now I want to find other books that go in depth on various people described.

It ends with:
May man, the great destroyer, learn before it is too late to become man, the preserver of this wonderful land -- Colorado the Magnificent, America the Beautiful. ;)

Not particularly well-written, but the short snippets of description on Colorado's historical key players and locations are captivating. It is an easy summer read.
