Easy-to-follow drawing instructions enable young artists, historians, and fans to create authentic scenes, costumes, and characters from the life of Pocahontas, a chief's daughter who saved the life of British settler John Smith. Reprint.
Hmm. Initially I thought this was a really good book. It was only when my daughter pointed out that they'd left out the part where P was kidnapped that I realized how glossy the story was. Still, the pictures are cool and they serve a purpose in the end of the book with the drawing lessons. Close attention to the sketches and accompanying narrative teach about Powhatan customs, including clothes, religion and food. I think using drawing to focus children's attenion is a brilliant idea and the pictures they include are worth trying to reproduce. (Not sure how likely a kid is to get a good result, but still...)
