Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. The final installment in the Beauty for Flight series finding Harper being found and arrested for the murders that took place in Red home. So she will try to prove her innocence with the help of Jack. Will they finally prove who is hurting Red, is Red Grandson to blame or is their someone else out to hurt Harper? This was a wonderful wrap up to the series. The ending seems a little far fetch but still a fun read and it will have you at the edge of your seat. The ending was really wonderful as well. A great wrap for a fun series and glad I found this book to read and have fun doing so!!
Satisfying conclusion to the Beauty in Flight Series! This was my favorite of the three.
Harper is a fabulous main character. She's tough, tender and brave. This novel brings about just the right blend of romance, suspense and faith. Loose ends were tied up nicely.
My gratitude to the author for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and opinions expressed are my own.
Robin Patchen has once again hit paydirt with her gift for penning page-turning suspense in the Beauty trilogy. Beauty in Flight introduces you to Harper Cloud, beautiful but vulnerable, released from prison for her questionable involvement as the get away driver in a robbery gone wrong. She’s left home, floundered in the wrong lifestyle and is now desiring to start fresh. She becomes a nurses aide in a home for the elderly, where everyone sees her genuinely gentle and caring way with her patients. She’s drawn to Derrick, a stockbroker who proposes she move into his wealthy grandfather’s home to care for the aging, rough-around-the-edges man, Red. But Derrick has darker motives because of his debt from gambling addiction, and Harper, soon realizing the danger to herself and Red, and her growing fondness for the kind, crusty old man, flees with Red. Trying to hide from those pursuing them, the story continues in Beauty in Hiding. They end up in New Hampshire far off the grid from where Harper believes their pursuers will look. They meet their new landlord, Jack, who learns some of the story as Harper is hesitant about why they are in this small town, but finds genuine trust in Jack. Jack comes to care for Harper and Red, and Harper is attacked and warned and discovers she is being sought for other murders. Jack puts himself in danger as he seeks with Harper to find the truth to finally set her free. Beauty in Battle, the 3rd book in the trilogy, sets a fast pace of hide and seek, with danger lurking around each corner Harper and Jack turn as they physically, emotionally, spiritually do battle with the enemies who seek harm for financial gain, including Derrick, while Red is safely cared for elsewhere. I couldn’t put these books down! God has a purpose and a plan, even when we choose wrong paths in our journey. He is there to raise us up, forgive and set new life before us. Thank you, Robin, for sharing redeeming truth in this stellar trilogy.

Review: I felt that this book was a pretty good ending to the entire series. It ended well and I felt like I got closure where I needed it. The writing was still well done and the pacing still consistent.
However, I felt like this book was a bit like the first one. It was a lot of non-action and explanation. I felt that the book could have done better by making this series into one book, then cutting out and trimming down some of the excess. I think this series could have been more suspenseful too, but it just feels like a lot like a amateur detective novel. Some of the misconceptions about criminal justice are displayed here and they continue to annoy me as much as always.
Verdict: I feel like this should have been one book.
Harper Cloud has been running since the beginning of the first book in the series, except the one time she went to tell the police the truth about what had happened in a liquor store holdup and ended up in prison. Now she is again facing her fears and headed to the police to tell what she knows in another case. This time, she is a suspect. If Jack was not driving her there, I have to wonder if she would have bolted and run again. She felt she had been there and done that, so how would this time be any different? Fully expecting to be arrested and thrown in jail, she kept second-guessing what she was doing. The other thing that kept her going was her love for Red and the need to make sure his grandson would not be able to cause him harm. Until she told her story to the police, Red was at risk. At times, you may find yourself holding your breath, wondering how this is going to end. I doubt it will be what you expect, but you will enjoy the story. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Beauty in Battle was most definitely a conclusion worth waiting for. With the series finally coming to a head, Robin Patchen crafted a conclusion demanding the tension that has been building since the beginning of the series. Harper finally learns her worth and the meaning of God. The theme of forgiveness, redemption, and second chances run rampant. The final installment was full of tension and a little bit of romance. Just what the series called for and lead up to since the beginning. I really enjoyed how the series took three books to explore. I feel Harper was a more rounded character and not just thrown under the bus and hustled through the steps. She had depth and became a better character by the end of the series. Overall, I highly recommend everyone who enjoys reading suspense to pick up this series, but I recommend waiting until the reader has all three, so they can read them in order and one right after another.
I received a complimentary copy of Beauty in Battle by Robin Patchen for JustRead tours, but the opinions stated are all my own.
The long-anticipated conclusion to this wonderful trilogy is so worthwhile! I loved this series! First of all, readers must know that this is one story told over three books. They must be read in order and none of them stand alone. (I love that the author gave us little reminders of what happened in the previous story to refresh our memories since all three books are released at separate times and since many of us read a lot of books it can be hard to remember plots in-between reads.) This is a great story of learning to trust, of forgiveness, loyalty, true love, kindness, and second chances at life. In this final instalment, Harper learns to trust God in every aspect of her life, even when things seem at their worst. Life and death hang by a thread. Harper’s stalker resurfaces and evil is all around. Don’t miss the exciting conclusion of Harper’s story. This is a clean, Christian, romantic suspense trilogy. I highly recommend all three books by the same author. A very enthusiastic 5 stars!
What a satisfying conclusion to the Beauty in Flight series! This third book in the series is packed with action and suspense. The series should definitely be read in order, and once you start, you won’t be able to put the books down! If you enjoy a well-written romantic suspense, you will love this book and the entire series. The romance between Harper and Jack blossoms in this book. Jack is a swoon-worthy hero - compassionate, tender, loving, loyal, protective, and thoughtful. He also models grace and forgiveness and helps Harper understand God’s unconditional love better so that she can extend grace and forgiveness. And the author will have you guessing at the ending of the story until the very last chapter!
I received a copy of this book via JustRead Publicity Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
For those who’ve read the first two books in the trilogy, Beauty in Battle brings everything together in a fast, frantic, and intense conclusion you do not want to miss.
All the buildup comes to a head, all the questions are answered, and everything I hoped for the end of Harper’s story.
I loved how Robin Patchen told this story in three installments instead of one lengthier book as there really are three separate parts that resonate best when revealed separately. There is enough tension in each to keep you wanting more and reaching for the next book to find out how much Harper must endure and whether she will come out the other side a stronger woman who will learn to lean into God when the worst happens.

As with book two in the series, book three picks up right where the previous book leaves off as if it were a continuation of the pervious book. This epic and thrilling ending is not one that readers of the first two novels will want to miss. It ties together everything that has taken place over the three novels and brings this exciting series to a close. As fast paced and intense as the previous novels in the series, readers will not want to miss this romantic suspense story’s ending!

A review copy of this book was provided by JustRead Publicity Tours. A review was not required and all views and opinions expressed are my own.
This is a good conclusion to the series. I was left hanging at the end of the previous novel so I was eager to read this one. It has the most action and moves quickly. It also shows great character development of Harper as she finally trusts God for her future, even when it appears unsure.
There were just a couple of issues I had with how things wrapped up. I am not sure the ending explained why the dead bodies appeared, disappeared, then appeared somewhere else, considering who the real killer turned out to be. And Red was so very lucid at the end when he had not been so many times before.
Other than those issues, this has been a rewarding series to read. I really enjoyed the themes of forgiveness, trust, reconciliation and love.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Whoa! What a great ending to the series. This book had me hooked from the beginning, granted the cliffhanger from the second book had helped, but this book stood on its own. Harper had several eye-opening experiences in this book that really allowed her to deepen her relationship with God in a way she had never done before. Because of her deepening relationship, she had a glow about her that drew people in. I loved the romance that was growing between her and Jack. The ending was not what I expected, but I was not disappointed at all. I recommend this series to those that love to cheer for the underdog and those that just need a second chance at life.
So very good. This 3rd book in the series not only delivers but ties up all the loose ends of the 1st books, giving us readers the needed closure. Harpers story that began with Beauty in Flight when she was forced to leave what she knew and continued in Beauty in Hiding where she was hiding from enemies. Now in Beauty in Battle, we see Harper coming face to face with her demons in a battle of survival. Does she stand a chance? Get a copy today and find out. Loved this final book full of suspense with a side of romance.
On her way back to Maryland to meet with police detectives, Harper Cloud wonders if her life will ever feel safe, or settled, or hopeful. Now that she has put her faith in the One who will never leave her or forsake her, she is deeply grateful for the gift of Jack's steady presence. He believes in her innocence, he believes in her; but Derrick Burns is a desperate man who is determined to use Harper as a pawn in his dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Enjoy this satisfying, if not surprising, conclusion to a really interesting series.
What a fabulous ending to this series! This is book 3 in the Beauty in Flight series and you really need to read the other 2 books first for this one to make sense. This was a pretty spectacular series, full of action and suspense. Book 1 got off to a slow start, but once the action picked up, it was pretty non-stop through the rest of the series. Harper Cloud has been on the run and when she learns she is actually a person of interest in a murder case, she comes out of hiding to tell the police what she knows. Though she panics at the thought of going back to jail, she finds peace in her new found faith and a solid support in her new friend Jack. I loved the ride this series took me on and how the faith element came full-circle. I even enjoyed the romance in this one, even though that's generally my least favorite part of romantic suspense. This book brought a very satisfying ending to this series.
Special thanks to the author for an advance copy of this e-book. I was not required to write a review and the thoughts and opinions contained herein are my own.
If you have been reading this series, you definitely won't want to miss the conclusion to the story. I didn't want to put this book down. (I actually read about 3/4 in a day and woke up in the middle of the night wanting to finish and find out what happened!). For me, this was a page turner with unexpected twists right through to the end. Robin Patchen does a wonderful job of tying up all of the loose ends and bringing the story full circle.
While it is necessary to purchase all three books in order to complete the story, this is a series worth considering doing that. I was given an ARC with no requirement for a review but it is my honest opinion that this is worth a read.
Beauty in Battle is the third book of the Beauty in Flight series by Robin Patchen. Though Harper has a history of relationships with the wrong men, through a series of frightening and difficult circumstances she finally learns to trust the right one. This story comes complete with a surprise ending! So snuggle down in your favorite reading spot with a cup of hot chocolate and some chocolate chips cookies and prepare for a great read!
We see the continuation of the Beauty in Flight series with Harper and Jack returning to Maryland. I loved the story, the suspense, twists and turns plus the interesting cast of characters. The books in this series need to be read in order to gain a maximum reading experience. Red was the character that stood out for me.I loved his gruff,no nonsense personality with that soft heart. I am eager to read what Robin Patchen has ,next, in store for us. This book is recommended for those who love Christian romantic suspense with an inspirational message. This advance review copy was given to me by the author. My opinions are 100% my own.
What a tension-filled ending to the series! Despite being somewhat disappointed with the first book in this series, I picked up book two and never looked back, moving straight on to book three once I finished book two.
This book continued in the same vein as the previous one—tight writing, strong suspense, great characterisation. I love how steadfast Jack is in his support of Harper, but even more than that, I love that there is a rational foundation for his support, because Harper’s current actions speak to her true character more than the details of her past.
Derrick’s point-of-view is present again, which adds to the tension and allows the reader to see his escalating desperation, but even with all that, there were some surprises saved up for the end.
And speaking of the end, I loved the one here. It brought Harper’s journey to the best possible close, and while the reader won’t be preached at, there is a wonderful message of grace and restoration in Harper’s journey throughout the series. She’s only a young Christian, but even so, believing in God’s grace and forgiveness doesn’t erase the details of her past or give her any confidence that others will see beyond her past to the person she is trying to become. Robin Patchen did a great job of bringing that conflict out in Harper’s characterisation.
Even taking into account my disappointment with the first book in the series, romantic suspense fans will find plenty of satisfaction in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the author. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.
I read this book in one sitting because I just had to know who the real killer was ! I was surprised and had guessed wrong ! Great characters . Love, , faith and suspense with a touch of humor . Well now I have to wait for Robin Patchen to write another series and I'm sure she will nail it again !!
*4.5 stars Wow, what an intense conclusion! Even though this is a series, the three books read as one fluid story. They are NOT stand-alones. Once you open up the first book though, you'll find yourself hooked until the final conclusion!
This was the shortest of the three books but easily held the most action. This was one that couldn't be put down! Because of the fact that this was the conclusion, there isn't much that is safe to talk about without sharing any spoilers. So I will save the details for you as a reader, but I can tell you to expect an intense ride!
One thing that really stuck with me in this book was a moment when Harper was reflecting on herself as a person and her relationship with others. Her past had led her to feel like she could only rely on herself. She was skeptical of anyone trying to help her because her assumption was that people would only be willing to help if there was something in it for them. She couldn't trust easily. It was interesting to see how her relationship with God was able to help her start tearing down the walls she'd built up around her heart.
If you saw my review for the second book (Beauty in Hiding), you'll know that I said that I had a difficult time with Jack's character being someone who seemed too good to be true. I still wish that there was more time that could have passed in their relationship to make it feel more real, but he grew on me more... or at least until I read that he was a Patriot's fan. Football fans will understand ;)
I really enjoyed this series and would absolutely be interested in reading more from this author in the future. I highly recommend it to Christian suspense fans!
*I received a copy of this book through JustRead Tours Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
I had not heard of this author previously but her new series of books sounded very interesting to me, so when I saw a book tour with Just Reads, I signed up for all three books. Beauty in Battle is the third book in author Robin Patchen’s new series, Beauty in Flight.
Beauty in Battle is the third book in this three-book series. The story sets a fast pace of hide and seek, with danger lurking around every corner that Harper and Jack turn. They are doing battle with the enemies seeking harm for financial gain, including Derrick, while Red is safely cared for elsewhere. Each time a book in this series was released, I couldn't put it down and read it cover to cover!
This book continued in the same vein as the previous one. Jack is strong and steady in his support of Harper for who she is and not her past actions. This final story brought Harper’s journey to the best possible ending. As readers learn, Harper is a young Christian, but her belief in God’s grace and forgiveness doesn’t erase the details of her past or give her any confidence that others will see beyond her past to the person she is trying to become. The author does remind readers that God has a purpose and a plan, even when we choose the wrong path in our life journey. God is there to raise us up and forgive us while guiding us with a new life before us.
I received an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and a positive review was not required. Beauty in Battle Beauty in Flight #3 By Robin Patchen
Harper Cloud wants to run now that the truth about her past has come out but to keep Red safe she'll to return to Maryland. Harper knows that she'll end up in jail - she sees no other possible outcome not with her record and the fact that she's a person sought in connection with the murder of two men. Jack Rossi is convinced that no one will hear Harper's story and think her guilty of this crime but Jack doesn't know the world as Harper does. And together they're about to find out just how the justice system works.
Derrick is determined to make Harper pay for her disloyalty to him. After all, if she had just played the part he had in mind for her he would have had the money he needed to pay off his gambling debts. Not only did Harper deny him she took his grandfather and ran. And he is going to find her and get what is his.
This is the exciting conclusion to the Beauty in Flight series and it will most definitely keep the tension and suspense at a steady incline throughout. At times the future of Harper and Jack is in serious doubt. And a word of warning these books must be read in order the story is continuous and will be lacking key components if you start somewhere in the middle. Fans of Love Inspired Suspense books will want to read this series.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest review. All thoughts expressed are my own.
This is the conclusion to a three part series about Harper Cloud, an ex-con trying to lead a better life and not repeat the mistakes of her past by becoming involved with the wrong man. Except she did.
Harper has run, hidden, and along the way learned to put her trust in God. But trusting a man, even one as good to her as Jack Rossi, is still difficult. Wanted in connection with a double murder, and still not free of the danger that stalks her, Harper returns to Massachusetts with Jack. But facing the possibility of arrest might be the least of her worries. This is an exciting conclusion to a suspenseful trilogy, and I have enjoyed the serial nature of the installments, with the first two ending in cliff-hangers that leave the reader eager for what comes next. And in Beauty in Battle the tension and action all lead up to a thrilling final confrontation.
This series puzzled me a bit with the varying lengths of the three books, but having read them I can appreciate the choice. If you enjoy a suspenseful story with elements of faith and romance, this series is definitely worth a read.
This review refers to an advance digital copy I voluntarily received for a tour review with Just Read Tours. All opinions expressed are my own.
This final book, Beauty in Battle, does bring a satisfying end to this story.
It ties together all the loose ends and shows us what all was really going on. Harper has to go and face her past, head on, to bring closure to her present. And, what will happen to Derrick? And of course, there's Jack. Will he be able to trust Harper, after all the lies she told him?
This author did a great job at bringing us a suspense-filled story. There were unexpected events that kept happening, and I was never quite sure what would happen next.
Personally, I would have preferred reading this as one book, rather than divided into three (the first & last books are both fairly short, the middle one is a little bit longer), but then, I do enjoy reading long stories.... All in all, this is an excellent suspense story. It kept and held my attention, and had intriguing characters who find themselves in the midst of quite the mystery.

Derrick, Harper Cloud’s ex-boyfriend and Red’s grandson, is on their trail; tracking them to Nutfield, NH, where they are in hiding in following the murders in Maryland (Book #1) and the attempt on Red’s life. Their new landlord, Jack Rossi, is drawn to them but the more time he spends with them, the more their story just doesn’t add up. Harper has a job as a waitress and Red has a safe place to stay, all through Jack’s help, but can she trust him with the truth? Will their new relationship withstand the new dangers threatening her and Red’s survival?
Harper turns more and more to God when she is afraid, or when danger arises, but will she ever surrender to Him and trust Him with her future? Her journey of faith, forgiveness, and reconciliation is inspiring.
Read the other books in the series first if you want to know all the back-story to this one, since this is not a stand-alone novel. I enjoyed it and want to read more from this author. I received a complimentary copy but my opinions are honest and voluntary.
Beauty in Battle is the suspense-filled conclusion to Robin Patchen’s Beauty in Flight trilogy. Once Jack learns Harper’s secrets he convinces her to return to Maryland with him to face the police with the truth before Derrick catches up to them.
Well-developed characters and plot made this series one that I didn’t want to put down but I was grateful to have copies of all three books so that I didn’t have to wait to find out what happened next. Jack and Harper faced more than enough danger along their journey back because in addition to Derrick, an unidentified killer also wants them dead. Unexpected twists and surprises kept me in suspense until the very end.
I thoroughly enjoyed this skillful blend of drama, suspense, romance, and faith. I am glad I had the opportunity to review this series and recommend it to those who enjoy Christian suspense novels.
I voluntarily reviewed a digital copy of this book provided by Just Read Tours. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
The final book in this trilogy ends on a high note. So glad, that I did decide to stick the first book out. Harper won me over. She went from a victim to a fighter. Although, she did have some help along the way with Jack and Red. Both men that I am glad were in Harper's life.
Red helped to provide the humor. Either because of his age or he liked to embarrass Harper; he would say things that would make me laugh or smile. Maybe it was a little of both. Where Jack is concerned; he was the rock that Harper needed. He stepped in when he had to but allowed Harper to fight her battle. The chemistry between these two was sweet but nice at the same time.
If there was anyone that I hated more, it was Derrick. He is a horrible person. He did not care for either Harper or his grandfather, Red. All he cared about was himself.
Beauty in Battle is the exciting conclusion to the three part Beauty in Flight series. And what an absolutely perfect conclusion it was! It's the most fast paced of the series. The suspense and tension never seemed to let up, making it nearly impossible to set down.
It was a joy to watch Harper's faith grow stronger with each book. To know where she started and then to see where she ended was truly inspiring.
The author did a great job of recapping the previous books, but I'd still recommend starting with book one. The journey that Harper goes on, from beginning to end, is something you don't want to miss out on.
I flew through this series, reading each book back-to-back. It was so good! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys inspirational suspense. I'm definitely adding Robin Patchen to my “auto-buy” list. I can't wait to read whatever she comes out with next.
My first read of this author kept me well engaged through the three book series. I was a bit surprised that the three are actually a seamless story split into three books but the transition points are logical. You would lose a lot trying to read 2 or 3 on their own. Character development was well thought out and I was enlightened regarding Harper's perspective and way of thinking coming from a background and experience vastly different from my own. I definitely counted my blessings for the path I have walked. The suspense was fast moving, the romance was evenly paced, the spiritual aspects were well incorporated into normal life and relationships. The surprise ending was well veiled until the final scenes. I definitely support high ratings for Robin and am now moving on to her "Lies" series. Blessings!
