God of Winning

The God of Winning has won yet again.
I’ve successfully dealt with two of my enemies in one blow with no one the wiser that I was involved, and I also got filthy rich in the process.
But the kingdom of Sorreyal has more enemies, from within and without, and there’s no better time and place to root them out than at a nobility summit in the capital.

Interesting use of game mechanics

This is the first time I have run across the use of save points as the main expression of the protagonist's power. It is very original ( at Least to me) and intriguing. That being said, I have one major criticism:

Enough with the sex scenes. I know this is a harem story. Yeah, every beautiful woman wants his baby, and every man admires him. I get it; but seriously dude! After the first couple of sex chapters, I found myself skimming past them as an unnecessary distraction from the story. If I want porn, there is always the internet.

In my opinion, you should stick to the exploration of the main character's use of his ' chime'. Your writing is at its best when you are figuring out how to solve and manipulate complex problems and situations.

All in all, I enjoyed the read and look forward to the next chapter (hopefully with more time spent outside the bedroom).

The God of Winning Takes On Courtly Intrigue in a Solid Fifth Outing

If you've made it to The OP MC 5: God of Winning, you're fully committed to the journey of Bash, the ultimate "save-scummer" turned God of Time. This fifth installment sees our overpowered protagonist trading his usual monster-slaying for the subtler, more dangerous battleground of royal politics. Fresh off a major victory, Bash and his followers head to a nobility summit in the capital of Sorreyal, where whispers of conspiracy and treason swirl . It's a welcome change of pace that injects fresh energy into the series, offering a compelling blend of intrigue and the series' trademark strategic problem-solving. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Key Themes
Power Beyond Brute Force: While previous books focused on Bash's physical and magical dominance, this volume explores political power. The theme is tested as Bash navigates a world where his ability to reload any situation isn't always the most direct solution to a web of lies and hidden loyalties among the nobility . It asks the question: how does an unbeatable force handle problems that can't be solved with a sword or spell?

The Burden of Perfectionism: Bash's compulsion for "100% completion" is both his superpower and his curse . The book continues to explore the psychological weight of his ability, showing the obsessive persistence required to craft the "perfect" outcome in complex social and political scenarios. He isn't just winning; he's meticulously engineering every detail, which can be as fascinating as it is exhausting .

Found Family and Loyalty: Amidst the new threats, the core of the story remains Bash's unwavering bond with his inner circle. His drive to protect and improve the lives of his followers is a consistent motivator . This theme grounds the often-outlandish power fantasy, providing its emotional heart.

Character Analysis
Bash (The God of Winning): His development here is less about gaining new powers and more about applying his unique mindset to a new arena. He remains a fascinating mix of hyper-competence and a gamer's compulsive need to optimize . Some readers may find his confidence borders on arrogance, but it's consistent with his "god" status. A key point of praise from fans is his increased and creative use of magic in battle, a welcome evolution from earlier books .

The Harem (Elora, Mahini, Eva, and a New Addition): The series' female characters continue to be loyal and capable allies. Their relationships with Bash are stable and affectionate, though a common critique persists that their individual development can sometimes take a backseat to their role in the harem dynamic . As is tradition, Bash's journey attracts a new, intriguing woman to his circle .

The Antagonists: The shift to the capital introduces a new breed of villain: sophisticated conspirators working from within the kingdom's power structure . This provides a more nuanced challenge than a simple monster horde, forcing Bash to think several political moves ahead.

Writing Style & Pacing
Logan Jacobs's prose remains direct and action-focused, keeping the story moving at a brisk pace. The political intrigue plot is generally well-handled, with fans praising the "plot twists" and the "great balance between combat, character development, and political intrigue" . However, a recurring criticism of the series reaches a peak here for some readers: the perceived overabundance of intimate scenes. Multiple reviews note skimming these sections, feeling they disrupt the flow of the otherwise engaging conspiracy plot . The central "save scumming" mechanic is used effectively to unravel complex schemes, though it can occasionally make certain victories feel pre-ordained .

What I Liked/Disliked
Liked:

The shift to political intrigue in the capital was a refreshing and smart evolution for the series .

Seeing Bash apply his time-loop power to unravel a layered conspiracy was immensely satisfying .

The increased and clever use of magic in combat scenarios was a highlight .

The world-building continues to expand, hinting at more races and lands beyond Sorreyal .

Disliked:

The intimate scenes, while expected in the genre, felt overly frequent and repetitive to the point of distracting from the main plot for this reader .

While the ending resolves the immediate threat, it leans into partial cliffhanger territory regarding the larger conspiracy, which might frustrate some .

A few minor continuity errors were noted by eagle-eyed readers, briefly pulling one out of the story .

Conclusion/Recommendation
The OP MC 5 is a strong entry that successfully steers the series into new, interesting territory. The political plot is engaging, and seeing Bash's powers applied to courtly manipulation is a delight.

You'll love this book if: You're invested in Bash's story and enjoy strategic, puzzle-box plots. If you appreciated the heist-like elements of Book 4, you'll enjoy the conspiracy-solving here. Fans of the series will find it a worthy continuation that expands the scope.
You might want to skip it if: You're new to the series—this is not a starting point. Also, if you have a low tolerance for harem genre tropes and frequent intimate scenes, they remain a prominent and divisive feature .

Final Verdict: A confident 4/5. It proves that an "OP MC" can still face compelling challenges that aren't just about bigger monsters. The series continues to be a fun, bingeable power fantasy for its niche, and this book sets the stage for even grander adventures. If you're on board with Bash by now, this capital adventure is a must-read.

Entertaining, but...

The MC has to be one of the most persistent people imaginable to redo everything an absurd number of times all to be “perfect”. He shows an inordinate amount of attention to making sure “his” followers are safe, happy, and growing stronger. While he often takes the “easier” path of doing things himself, his first attempts include others in his circle to allow them to gain experience. It is easy to care about a MC that works so hard to improve himself AND those around him.

His powers make him the ultimate spy. That is why it is hard to understand why his first thoughts are to simply eliminate those who oppose him. He spends no time to try to understand his opponents motives or to find a way to realign their goals to suit him better. If his future goals are to travel safely, strengthening the kingdom where more people “win” would come across as more clever than appearing as the most dangerous force that would need to be countered.

Worst one yet!

After reading the 1st 2 books, I bought up to number 12. This is the 1st one so far that I didn't fully enjoy. The ending left much to be desired. With Bash being such a completionist, it was just lazy to kill Dumas. So many ways he could have been caught alive. It seemed he completely forgot zorya was his sister. Should have caught dumas and interrogated him about the other conspirators. Also I was getting annoyed at bash's excessive use of the saves. One of these days it is going to bite him in the ass.

Masterful and brilliant!

I love this series!
And the 5th in the series doesn't disappoint. New adventures, new and old enemies and plots abound... This time within the royal court.

I love how all the intricate parts within the story fall together. We know our OPMC will always win in the end, but having fun along the way, and aiming for that 100% completion is just the icing on the cake.

Brilliant work and eagerly await the next!

Another great book

I absolutely love this series, you would think a book about an unbeatable MC would be boring but somehow Lohan Jacobs makes it work. Great balance between combat, character development, and political intrigue. I was excited to see how this leg of the journey unfolded and can't wait for the next adventure.

Plot twists galore nd more epicness

Book 5 sees the epicness reach new levels and I can't wait to see how it continues in book 6. A partial cliffhanger leaves you wanting more. Bash is awesome as you would expect from the God of winning. If you haven't started this series go and buy book 1. If you have this is a great addition to the series and a must read.

OP MC book series

For the first time, I have enjoyed a book so much, that I described what I was reading to my spouse. Usually when "Bash" was playing tricks on people. However, you have to wonder if Lissy is pregnant. Logan has mentioned a couple of times, of her not feeling well in the morning.

It’s Good to be a god.....

Bash continues his romp through the kingdom, killing goblins and building his town.
Just as he gets into the mood, he’s summoned back to the king and has to acquire a few more people to join his followers. Devising a plan to get the best of the city, he designs a series of games to winnow the best of the city. A good read.

Some confusion

Well let's see. In book four our hero rode his war horse into town.
then he buys a wagon and four horses to go home,(with the treasure) and burns up the stable where his horse is quartered .
Then in book five,he is riding the same horse again.
I have really enjoyed this series for the most part, I just wish the repeats didn't take so much time to get through!

Great read

Fun read and a good change of pace from the last book. The chimes are mentioned but in passing which helps the flow of the story. I am so happy to see him use the magic he has been obsessively learning on a more regular basis feel inclined with the characters personality.

Enjoyed good easy read.

The story is an on going task of a MC that is written like a 15 year having a fantasy. The book is what it is. A simple story that at times is hard to read as it drags with the same story crutch being used over and over. Cool premise of MC's power, good world that the story is set in, just not much to the plot.

Can't wait for the next one

Another great addition to the series. Really wished Bash was able to resolve the whole plot but I guess I'll just have to live with the semi-resolutuon until the next book comes out.

Good story

Would be better if there was less repetitive sex scenes but hey. Good story and I guess the repetitive sex scenes come with the genre ... still. Can’t wait for next book

Decent

The story is good. If you like harem books then you will enjoy this one. The sex scenes are getting a bit much for me so I just skim them but that means I skim like a third of the book

Almost there

I think the story is good, but I felt the final boss was not handled properly, in a going for 100% way. To avoid spoilers, I will not add more.
Thank you for the series. I am looking forward to where it goes from here.

Fun, sexy, but a little predictable.

I enjoyed this addition to the story, but it was a little predictable. I will keep reading though. His style is good. He doesn’t spend too much time reiterating the story up til now like many authors that I have quit on.
