A simple twist of fate catapults Lucie Rees from her ordinary life in an ordinary town to a strange, exciting job in Paris as friend to the ultra-famous but troubled young pop star Arizona Kingdom. At first she is more than excited, but soon Lucie finds herself entangled in mysterious happenings that put her and Arizona in terrible danger. Lucie must discover the source of her troubles before it’s too late. Who can she trust? Will the holiday of a lifetime in Paris turn into her last days on Earth?
The first stories Isabelle Merlin remembers are the traditional French fairytales told to her by her French grandmother. Later, she heard family stories, which proved to her that magic and romance and terror don't only appear in fairytales: like the romantic story of the beautiful ancestor who caught the eye of the Sun-King, Louis XIV; or the amazing story of the wily ancestor who went from being a poor peasant to a multi-millionaire; or the tragic story of the curse of madness and misfortune that pursued other ancestors; or the spooky story of the chain-rattling ghost that haunted the family home deep in the green countryside of France. It's no wonder that she grew up with a head full of stories and a burning desire to become a writer. Isabelle lives in Australia with her family.
I am currently reading Pop Princess by Isabelle Merlin. I am on page 110 and I am really enjoying it so far. It's kind of like an everyday chick flick that really gets me going. A couple have just broken up and the girl has flown to Paris for a getaway. She was heartbroken from the break up and just needed to leave. I do think the author could've made the break up more dramatic and a better conflict between them. I think that the author should use better language through the story but I really did get a delight in when she had a flashback during the story of the same scenario that her parents had when they were fighting. I really hope that throughout the book there will be a mystery full of love and conflict.
Move over Hannah Montana; Pop Princess is the real deal! If you love suspense, with a serving of romance; if you're into music, like your heroines fiesty and think that all things French c'est magnifique, then Pop Princess is the book for you!
Pop Princess is a wonderful book which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I instantly jumped into the story, and went on one of the most fantastic journeys I have ever been on.
Pop Princess is a book filled with everything any girl could ever want: a romance, music, friendship, crime all in the magical city of Paris. Dont let the title fool you, this book is not as sweet and childish as it appears. There is a pretty heavy crime story interwined between the romance and beautiful city.
The main character of Pop Princess is Lucie Rees. She moves from Australia to Paris to befriend a famous, teenage singer, Arizona Kingdom, who is receiving death threats from strangers.
Lucie and Arizona closely become very good friends, and meet two lovely boys, with whom they become romantically attached to. Merlin is a talented writer who manages to bring the story to life. Her describing is unreal, and all of the scenes come alive in my mind, and play in a movie. The whole time you read this book, you escape to another world.
Paris is such a fantastic city and the fact that this book is set there, is what prompted me to purchase it. I am glad I did, as I have no regrets what-so-ever. It's awesome!
I would recommend this book to everyone! You will thoroughly enjoy it! :)
I think that this novel turned out to be much darker than I thought but overall Pop Princess got me sitting at the edge of my seat and it was really enjoyable.
