I think I need to read more Native American historicals. I dig a historical that actually gives a woman some power and you know respect. The heroine was fascinating if a bit odd. I liked that she knew who she was and where she belonged and didnt let the hero or her feelings for him persuade her otherwise. The hero was the biggest obstacle to this book. though he turned out alright in the end his assholery in mocking the heroines beliefs enraged me. So you can believe that one supreme deity created the earth and runs all life as you know it but anything that remotely strays from that belief is wildly absurd and deserves to be mocked? Yeah yeah he comes around eventually but still its just a rude things to do...especially to someone you're sleeping with. I really dug the weird supernatural elements of this combined with the historical setting and the plot was definitely interesting even if it had no twists or mystery. Though the writing wasn't bad it definitely reads as an earlier work. No major errors but the general flow wasn't great. The sex scenes especially were issues. The author aimed for poetic and misty eyed but it failed and i just wanted them to have sex for real so i could have some satisfaction.
Still I enjoyed this one and it's one ill keep on my shelves
