Ask your ex-boyfriend nicely, and he’ll help you chase your dreams. He might even convince you he deserves a second chance…
Kenzie Lee always has a plan. She has no time for boys, her only goal is a scholarship to Stanford. Her dream’s almost within her grasp, but there’s a problem – she has to complete an ambitious project for her application, and she can’t do it alone.
Asher Santos is Beachbreak’s notorious bad boy. He’s also Kenzie’s ex. After mysteriously disappearing last summer, Asher is back in town and on a mission: get his grades up, and go back to Beachbreak High for senior year.
Kenzie has no intention of forgiving the boy who broke her heart when he left without saying goodbye. Until Asher proposes a business agreement. He’ll help with her project, if she helps him improve his grades.
They’ll be coworkers. Nothing more.
But as these exes spend time together again, Kenzie wonders – if Asher is really a ghost from her past, how come she can no longer see her future without him?

I was waiting eagerly for this book after I finished reading “It was always Jace”. Because, well I loved all books of Emily Lowry, though I have not read all her books. It was kinda bittersweet at the end. I didn’t want this series to get over yet. So, I stalled when I came to the last two chapters.
This book was based on a ‘second chance’ trope. Kenzie is nerdish (not in an offensive way at all, I love nerds). She had her life planned for the next 10 years, which extended to the next 10 years (I kid you not). This begins to crash when she falls for Asher, a bad boy. Everybody thought that he a bad boy but not Kenzie. She sees past all that. She sees the smart, funny boy. All goes well until one day Asher disappears without a word. She is terribly hurt and heartbroken. However, she puts on a brave face and continues with her dream to go to Stanford. Asher was happy like never before with Kenzie until one day he gets into trouble and is packed off to a boarding school that he hates. He doesn’t get a chance to say goodbye to her so he pleads to at least leave a letter for her. Kenzie has a small problem though that stands in the way of her Stanford dreams. She has to do a project that needs help for a mechanic. Asher happens to be a mechanic. Asher needs tutoring so they make a deal. He helps her with her project she becomes his tutor. They begin as coworkers then turn into friendly coworkers. Then she begins to wonder if she can trust him to give him a second chance.
It was a good thing it had a happy conclusion. Glad to know all the other couples too were having their own happy endings. I absolutely loved the Beachbreak High series. It was a sweet happy read. I got an advance copy of this book and am leaving an honest review, willingly.
This book was so good. It was the perfect wrap up for this story. I’ve heard a bit about both Kenzie and Asher in the novels before. I loved their relationship. They had already had their biggest down and just needed to work through that. That was pretty much the story in the most basic form possible. Anyways, the story is really fun to read. I will say it’s a bit of a tearjerker because of all the emotion there is. It’s also a bit of a bittersweet ending because the series is finished! I liked how the author introduced the school for the next series. That was sly but a great technique. Back to the review, liked I said, there is a lot of feeling. Then the background! It was so complete. Every little detail was described but it didn’t run on and on and on. It was perfect in every way. I’m getting a bit random here but that’s only because I think of something I really enjoyed and start writing. Sorry ‘bout that!
The characters were amazing. They were selfless while being the most realistic I have seen. This is hands down, the best-written novel in the series. There was a lot of seriousness but with that tinge of comedy. I would have liked it to see some of their past together but it was still so good. AMAZING ENDING TO AN AMAZING SERIES. I look forwards to what I think is this author’s third series? Thank you Emily for all of your amazing books!

Review:
Emily Lowry has a way of crafting such sweet romances that aren’t simple. This is also the case for It Was Still Asher. There wasn’t a point where I thought ‘of course they end up together’, which is always a sign of good romantic conflict. Despite this, the feelings revolving around the two of them was never in question.
Outside of this relationship, the rest of the story was enjoyable. I like all of the other characters, and I enjoy how they added to the story. The writing was very well done and I am sad to see the that this is the end of the series. It wrapped up well, I just wasn’t ready to leave Beachbreak.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I think this would be a great read for someone looking for a cute teen romance where the realistic conflict is involved.
ENG ::
This is the first time I read a “Second Chance YA Sweet Romance”. This is why I loved the book; it’s original and still contains the angsty feelings and the swoony moments. I also loved reading about the couples that I enjoyed so much but definitely, Kenz and Asher are my favorites.
She’s the “type A” personality girl, who made me laugh and made me feel identified. He’s a “bad boy” but with an enormous heart and a loyalty sense that made him my new book boyfriend. They way they loved each other was epic and very “second Chance romance-ish”.
I couldn’t ask for a better way to end the series and I also loved that we have an indirect intro to the new book series 💜
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the last book in the Beachbreak High series and while they are interconnected, this book can be read as a standalone.
Asher and Kenzie's story is an emotional, slow burn, second chance story. Not ashamed to say there were a few tears shed while reading. They're juniors in high school and more than anything these two are always trying to make the grown up choices when it comes to their relationship. They were separated due to some bad decisions and there was heartbreak on both sides but through it all you can see these two love each other. How they find their way back and stay together is the real lesson about growing up.
I love these two together and how their opposite personalities work together. They have sweet, deep chemistry and their interactions are very heartfelt.
I'm going to miss the Beachbreak High crew and loved reading all their stories. Pick this one up today and can't wait for Emily's next book!
This is the last book in the Beachbreak High series. 😥 I've been a huge fan of Emily Lowry since I found her on Instagram. #bookstagrammademedoit I loved this series because there was a mix of tropes- brothers best friend, fake dating, best friends, and second chance. I highly recommend all of them, especially since they're all out now, you can just binge read them all! . Now for my thoughts: - I was a little worried I'd get bugged by the lack of context but Emily did a good job of weaving the history into the story - the mechanic shop when he fixed her car - I like how organic it was- him helping with the drone made it so they needed to spend time together - Asher and Kenzie - he's such a good guy - the pier where they reminisced. 😍 - I seriously love how big of a role the other couples play - part of why I love Emily's books is all the Canadian-isms - in this one we have lip chap. 🍁🍁 - the ending was so good. How we get to see each couple just being 👏👏
This book is about second chances in love. Asher is the most misunderstood character, he was sent away mysteriously. Kenzie never got her explanation and her goodbye when Asher left, so she has built up her presumptions. Will she get her answers now that he is back? Will Asher be able to realize that Kenzie is the one for him? Kenzie needs help to work on a project and Asher needs tutoring, so both strike a deal (with some help from Jace). As the feelings they had for each other never faded, they are instantly drawn to each other and decide to give their love a second chance.
...its love and the person you want to spend with is what matters, you will always try hard to stay with the person you love, never give up on love...
All the other characters of Beachbreak high got their happy endings.
I really loved this book so much. It was a wonderful second chance romance. I loved Asher and Kenzie so much. They had sizzling chemistry. Asher just had a wonderful heart of gold. I loved him so much, and he has such a big heart. Kenzie is such a awesome girl. I loved her spunk. She's so strong.
The romance is a beautiful slow burn. I loved the air of maturity their relationship had. It was sweet, but with tons of sizzle. Their kisses were also sweet and very nice of what you would expect in a YA novel.
I highly recommend this second chance novel. It features wonderful characters and great cameos from previous couples.

I tolerated the other books in the series because they were light, easy to read, and had likeable characters. This book wasn't that. The "I have to break up with you because you're to good for me" trope is the absolute worst. Asher is an awful character. He wallowing in self pity and is just miserable. It took me so long to read this book because I just couldn't stomach the ridiculously over the top melodrama of him going on and on about how he's holding Kenzie back. I'm a completionist so I got through it but just barely.
This book was the prefect end to a great series. I've read every book in the series and they are the perfect books for teens, showing what a young relationship should be like. This is a clean book with so much emotion. Asher's had some difficult challenges and has given up on himself but Kenzie sees his full potential and the wonderful guy he already is. This was a great read with lots of emotions.
Kenzie and Asher are high school students dating when Asher suddenly goes away. It seems as though he left Kenzie withouth a word, but things are not always as they seem in this story. The love story between them is sweet, fun, involves some great friends, passing classes and working things out. I enjoyed following their story.

Such a sweet heartfelt end to a fun series. There were a few teasers about these two in earlier books and the mystery continued to develop through the beginning of this one. I loved both Asher and Kenzie. They were great characters with their own battles to overcome and they did so in really believable ways. I’m so glad that there is a new spin off series coming soon.
“It Was Still Asher” is the forth and final book in the series and man did it pull on my heartstrings. Through all the stories, the girls friendship was incredible to read. They were there for each other though everything and it was never toxic or petty. Asher and Kenzie relationship was a beautifully told story. Communication is everything, when you lose that, you lose trust.
The way I just finished this book after PT and I have class in a few hours now 😿
Okay of all 4 books in this series, this one was definitely my favorite and it’s one i’d recommend to people who want an easy short read. It has second chance (but like the first time didn’t end in a bad way so the dude really did deserve a second chance), and the dynamic was good.
Idk i’m gonna read another book now but this was simple and easy and I’m glad I read it
I needed a distraction from life, I craved to escape for a while and the BeachBreak High series DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I feel like this was a perfect package of friendship and love. I have no regrets reading this!!! it’ll take everything in me not to read it a second time-you know what scratch that I am totally gonna read it a second time. ;-) Buy it Read it Love it I did!
Having read all four books in this series one after the other (I was home from work sick), they all started to blur together. This book is a second-chance romance featuring the "bad boy with a heart of gold" trope.
It was enjoyable, but not my favourite, maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been binge-reading the whole series. Still, it was nice to see Kenzie get a chance at love.
This was a very good YA story. It had drama and it was interesting throughout. I liked Asher and Kenzie together and their relationship was very emotional. I liked reading the story.
I want an Asher for myself! This book was adorable and filled with so much love and tenderness. The whole series was good but the relationship between Asher and Kenzie was so real and genuine that it outdid all the others.
The personalities weren’t that different from the other books that I kept forgetting names and who they are. Like that he was different and a mechanic.
Spoilers Didn’t enjoy the second breakup. The mom was the villain, also hard.
