No one has ever hurt me like Bec Jones. Everything changed when we lost her brother, my best friend, and she ran from me with only an angry goodbye.
Three years later, after stumbling into her after years of no contact, I can't think straight. I can't stop all those feelings from rushing back, trying to strangle me.
I want to be with her, especially since fate has brought us back together. But I know what happens when she runs, and I can't be sure she won't do it again.
Fight After Flight is book three in the OCONUS Bonus series, but can be read as a standalone. It's a dual point of view romance told in first person that will give you all the sizzle and heat but keep it sweet.
I really struggled to like Bec. I get that grief can be difficult and ongoing but she was so flighty and self-focused, not considering what she was doing to anyone else with her whiplash behavior.
The characters have growth and are well rounded and the writing is spectacular!!
I love learning more about the military reading these and everything that entails!
Thatcher and Bec were definitely ones that’d been through it but theirs is a love that last a lifetime and even thru the hard times and hurt and running it stayed their under the surface just waiting for the right time to knock on the door and be let out again.
Nothing against the story. I just find it hard to like someone who, after going through therapy during a dark part of their life, buried their head in the sand instead of returning to therapy when things get difficult (honestly, I lost respect for her when it became clear that she'd left therapy before she was done healing).
Great story, she had left him once because he was too much like her brother ( who had died in Afghanistan) now she has fallen in love with him again - can she risk being a soldier’s wife and loosing him too?
Likeable characters and a decent story. This one was difficult because Bec is still recovering from the grief of losing her twin brother, and that journey is never an easy one.
I have been waiting for this book! Bec and Thatcher deserved their happy ending and I was so happy that they got their own book! Learning to Fight After Flight is the third book in Claire Cain’s The OCONUS Bonus series. I am mostly caught up on all of Cain’s books so that made this book so much more enjoyable. Bec Jones and Thatcher Wild had history together, one that could drive them apart again. Grief tore them apart, but love brought them back together will their love last this time? Bec fled from Thatcher and her memories three years ago but fate has brought them back together. Thatcher has loved Bec since he’s met her but when she left it hurt him dearly. When he sees her again, he wants to be with her but will they be able to work through old feelings? I have to admit I was really worried about Bec especially after reading about her from other books, but I have to say I liked how Cain made her grow. Bec had been through a lot and she was struggling to come to terms with her grief, although it had been a couple of years she still felt like she was drowning. It was so nice to see her grow, she had improved so much since you last read about her in one of the other series. I loved Thatcher, he really cared for Bec and he was such a sweet guy! I felt bad for him though, his heart had been dragged through the dirt and yet he still held on to hope that one day he and Bec could be together. Anyway, I just really liked him and I liked reading about him with Bec. He did have to learn how to trust Bec again though, because of how she had left him for Germany. Thatcher and Bec had a whole lot of past between them that they needed to learn to work through. I was rooting for them the whole time. Bec had to learn to let go of her grief and to stay. Thatcher had to learn what it meant to love Bec and how to help her. They were people learning how to deal with grief and learning what it meant to be in a relationship with each other. Will they be able to last when grief and old memories come back to haunt them? Learning to Fight After Flight was such a great book! I loved seeing old characters again and getting to see how they were doing. It was super fun to see Ben come in for a little. Learning to Fight After Flight was a wonderful book and I would definitely recommend it! I think it would be best for teens 16 and up. It can be read standalone, but it is better if you read it in order. Learning to Fight After Flight is a closed door military romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
Bec and Thatcher were so sweet! After losing her brother overseas, Bec ran from her feelings for Thatcher, overwhelmed by fear & grief. When they reconnect in Germany they've both grown, but they have plenty to work through before they can be together.
This was a tough one, since Bec's grief and fear of more loss is primarily what drives her through most of the book. At times I was frustrated by her urge to run, run, run when her emotions were intense, but the fear of loss must be very real for anyone who loves someone in active duty. But man did I love Thatcher's attitude that he was worth being loved in return. Despite some heavy themes there were a lot of light & fun moments in their relationship & the satisfaction of their HEA gave me goosebumps!! Great read!
This book is super emotional. Thatcher and Bec have an amazing connection and bond. They really complement each other. I love how grief is tackled in this novel. Thatcher and Bec struggle with the loss of someone they both love. Bec is so strong and yes she took a while to like, but man I understood where she came from. Thatcher is just amazing. He is so sweet and caring. Ultimate book boyfriend material. The romance is great. There is plenty of angst and sweetness. The tender moments are amazing. I also loved the kissing scenes. Super steamy and awesome. The chemistry and pacing were awesome. I loved how realisitc this book is and also shows the difficulty of being part of a military family. Great novel highly recommend.
Oh my goodness! Bec and Thatcher's story will take you for a ride! They have known each other for years, but Bec has to work through some grief before she'll even entertain the idea of letting Thatcher back into her life. I love how the story is interwoven with characters we are familiar with from the past books, and all the amazing details about living overseas as only someone who has experienced it can share. You will find yourself rooting for Bec and Thatcher as they figure out their lives!
Emotional story, with a woman who lost her twin in combat. A man who served with him was developing a relationship with her and she had run away from him. Her emotional turmoil takes up a very large proportion of the story, and the man she loves-yes, loves, takes the brunt of her turmoil.
I’ve enjoyed many books by this author and rated them highly. Unfortunately, I lost interest in this one by the mid-way point and perused to the end. I wanted good things for Thatcher but didn’t connect with Bec.
This was a great book. It had everything; background, emotion, love. This friends to lovers story had some major swoon worthy moments and ones that will have your heart clenching. I recommend this entire series.
