The first Casca series sequel written by a different named author. (Sadler was commonly known to have ghost writers writing his 22 novels). A good story....certainly not on the same level as the Barbarian (#5), the Sentinel (#9) or even the Mongol (#22) but it still kept my interest.
Oba Otonoshey was quite the creepy villain. Like a white emaciated Ringwraith of Tolkien ruling a African people...but even more horrible because his evil choices are all his own. Not that of a enslaved servant enthralled to the will of Sauron. Casca Rufius Longinus was as always his scarred & stoic, bad-ass self.
Because these stories are not written in a strict chronological fashion, it's always entertaining to try to piece together clues regarding which century Casca finds himself in. He was much later than I expected this time.
