I loved this book! It’s getting closer to Ally’s big day and she is ready to marry the love of her life. Ally and Luke are checking on last minute wedding arrangements and go to Castleman Farm to check out the barn. What they find is the barn engulfed in fire. Luke goes checking to see if anyone is inside when the fire department arrives and announces they found a body. Who was the person killed? Will the wedding take place? Join Ally and Mee-Maw as they investigate the fire and murder. Mrs. Cale, Mrs. Bing and Mrs. White get involved as well as they know the gossip going around town. So many twists and turns to decipher the clues.
The mystery pulls you in and keeps you guessing. The setting of the town seems like an enjoyable place. The camaraderie and the love for each other is outstanding. I look forward to the next book in the series. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, you are missing out. The narrative is great, the setting is wonderful and the characters’ personalities is fantastic. The investigation is filled with pitfalls, unexpected twists, multiple motives and surprises that keep you glued right to the end. The romantic element was charming and added a lot to the storyline.
Ally Sweet and her grandmother, Charlotte Sweet, are in the midst of a busy chocolate season plus planning Ally's wedding to Detective Luke Elm. Mrs. Bing, Mrs. Cale and Mrs. White are catering the food for the wedding and Mee-Maw is baking the Mocha cake. When Luke and Ally go to Castleman Farm to look over the venue one more time they find the barn on fire. When the fire is extinguished there is a dead body inside of Vincenzo "Vinnie" Granger. It is discovered that Vinnie has been strangled to death. Luke and Ally's wedding is put on hold and the investigation begins to find the murderer. This is another well written book by Cindy Bell. I have grown to love the characters in this series. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I received an advance copy of this book. This is my honest review.
I don't like to give too much away in my reviews but I will tell you that you should most definitely read this series. I have read the entire series and I feel as though the characters are my friends. The relationship between Ally and her Mee-Maw is incredibly heart warming and they always have each others backs. The supporting characters will make you laugh out loud and the mystery will keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this series! Happy reading! I did receive an ARC of this book but the opinions are my own.
This started off slow with all the wedding planning details. I was hoping to bypass all that stuff to get to the murder, which doesn’t happen until the end of chapter 2 after the excitement of the farm fire. Who set the fire and killed the groom?
There were so many odd things about this case like why the bride-to-be wasn’t that interested in finding the killer and why the barn owner wasn’t so devastated about the loss.
I love this series. This one and the Wagging Tails series are my favorites, so far. I used to write long detailed descriptions of what I loved about every book I read, but I am having problems right now with my hands, so my reviews are going to be shorter. What I will say is that I am very happy for Allie and Luke in this book. I know Allie's furry friends and her grandmother, as well as Mrs. Bing, Mrs. White, and Mrs. Cale are happy, as well! And a murder was even solved, as it always is. I can hardly wait for the next book, but, alas, I must! Thank you, Cindy Bell.
I'm happy that Ally and Luke got their happily ever after, but I don't feel sorry that Vinnie died. Who I really feel sorry for is Gloria. She went overboard with trying to kill Charlotte and Ally. Becca deserves not to get her happy ending. Considering what Vinnie did and how many women he conned and stole their savings, Becca is a horrible person for ever considering running off with Vinnie. Vinnie got his just desserts. Glad this is fiction.

Yay we are finally to the point where Luke and Ally are going to get married. Of course the problem is murder. Will there still be a wedding? A great story line with great characters. I love Ally and her grandmother, Mrs. Bing, Mrs. White, and Mrs. Cale and of course Luke. Who can forget Peaches the cat and Arnold the pot bellied pig. I loved this book.
Mee Maw and Ally solve another one with lots of suspects! A bonus is the mocha cake recipe! A great mystery series when you need very likable characters.
I love this series by Cindy Bell and have from book one. I love Ally,Luke,Charlotte a x all the wonderful characters in this series and you will too. I can't wait for the next one.
