A thorough, illustrated biography discussing the childhood, career, family, and dual terms of Grover Cleveland, both the twenty-second and twenty-fourth president of the United States.
Grover Cleveland was our only U.S. President to serve two non-consecutive terms in office, making him both the 22nd and 24th president. Cleveland was known for his honesty and strong work ethic. However, his unpopular insistence on lowering tariffs cost him the 1889 election to Benjamin Harrison. Harrison’s much weaker administration changed voter’s minds, and Cleveland was re-elected in 1893.
Each book in this series has: nice photographs, political drawings, chronological small chapters describing the life of each president, a glossary, lucid timelines, and interesting facts listed in the margins (my favorite part). A must have collection for any elementary and junior high classroom or libraries.
