The Dates of Our Lives #5

Matched To His Unicorn

Rate this book
Everyone loves unicorns...doesn’t mean they want one for their mate.

Alpha unicorn Sterling lives in the in-between. He’s not fully human, nor is he fully shifter. He’s just him, and he’s tired of being lonely. When he overhears a happy couple talking about how they met on Love and Hate, the dating app, he figures it’s worth a try. It’s not like his dating life could get worse...his last date was...you know... never.

Omega lion shifter Morgan has been on enough bad dates to be done with the entire scene. Who needs the constant roller coaster that is finding your perfect match when you have good friends, a thriving business, and a goldfish to keep you company? Morgan is just going to delete his dating app and call it good.

As Morgan’s finger hovers over the delete button a match appears. It would be rude not to at least open it...right? Just one more date and then he’s done...for real.

Matched to his Unicorn is the fifth book in the sweet with knotty heat Dates of Our Lives series, an M/M mpreg shifter dating app romance brought to you by the popular co-writing duo of Lorelei M Hart and Colbie Dunbar. It features an innocent unicorn who doesn’t quite fit in anywhere, a lion who doesn’t give up, a shifter who isn’t, fated mates, true love, and a guaranteed happy ever after. If you like your shifters mythical, your omegas hawt, your mpreg with heart, and your HEAs complete with true mates and a bundle of joy, one-click today.

Each new book in this series just keeps getting better and better!!!

Just loving this series so very much! Really loved Sterling in this one a lot. And having the MCs be a lion and a unicorn is pure genius! This one made me laugh and also cry happy tears!

This was book 5 in "The Dates of Our Lives" series. Alpha unicorn Sterling lives in the in-between. He’s not fully human, nor is he fully shifter. He works with a great group of people who have become family to him but he is lonely. When his friends sign him up on a dating app he gets a match. Omega lion shifter Morgan has been on enough bad dates to be done with the entire scene. His friends convince him to try a dating app he gets a match. Morgan is a workaholic he owns his own produce company. When these two go out Morgan knows that Sterling is the one for him but Sterling gets scared and runs off but Morgan doesn't give up. I wanted to learn more about these two especially about Sterling who we learns is a virgin why he felt less he was a unicorn shifter who was afraid to show Morgan who he was. When they start having sex Morgan was very sweet and patient with Sterling. When Sterling gets sick Morgan who drives like he is driving Ms. Daisy rushes to him and gets pulled over the cop who knew him can't believe he was speeding calls and tells him that he maybe pregnant and that unicorns take some of the symptoms for their omegas. This was a really good addiction to this series. This book did have an error in it. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

We moved from the original city to the coastal town where Ajax (from matched to his dragon) is from. I liked that we have an assertive, take charge omega in Morgan and a shy, insecure alpha in Sterling. It's a nice change.

Matched to His Unicorn

Sterling & Morgan
Rating: 3.3 ⭐

- Unicorn/Lion Shifter
- Dating App

We're back to the coastal town from the prior book that had Ajax in it. I liked this take on the Unicorn not being a "shifter", yes he can shift but he doesn't have a beast inside like other shifters. He cannot talk to his unicorn or visa versa because they are one being, so Sterling has always felt like he didn't quite belong with shifters or humans. The couple was adorable, as usual, and they actually dated for a bit before they mated each other since Sterling didn't have a beast within to tell him that he found his mate. Morgan is a lion, which gave him an assertive and take charge attitude for being an omega. It was a nice change to see the typical personalities of their designations flipped in this book.

These two are utterly adorable.

Sterling is an alpha unicorn he has always known he will be alone because he’s not a full human nor is it your phone shifter so he knows it will be difficult to date. But when he’s reminded to go onto the love and hate dating app by his friends who are in a wonderful relationship The caves and have a he has a look.
Morgan is a lion Omega shifter And he has his own business and work some insane hours getting up most days at 4 am. But he’s limping and he would like to find somebody games the dating app love and hate and that is where he finds sterling.
The attraction between them is instant and they have a great night together. They can’t keep their hands off each other. And even end up singing karaoke together. Sterling can’t believe he gets up there but he feels like he can do anything with Morgan by side. As they leave for the night their kisses become heavy. Morgan suggest they go for a run Sterling panics tries to tell him but ends up running away. Sterling thinks nothing good can come of this so he ends up deleting the app and hopes that he can put Morgan behind him.
Morgan is shocked when he runs off and hope something comes back but he doesn’t. He’s lying is going absolutely crazy telling him to go after him but Morgan knows if He does He will lose sterling for ever.
When Morgan has to do deliveries as Max is on holiday, he runs into Sterling again and this time Sterling tells him everything. Will Morgan except what Sterling telling him or or will his lion fight it.
This whole story is just adorable it is amazing how perfect Morgan is for sterling. They just make this one unit that is so strong. HonestlyJust adorable it left me smiling I could not get over this one feeling I had in my heart I really liked their friends as well their banter and sassy ways had me grinning from ear to ear. A brilliant read.

Maybe I shouldn't have just jumped into the 5th book of this series, but everything just felt a bit lukewarm and I didn't really "get" the characters? It felt very inconsistent with the actions and reactions to things. I feel like I read a different book than everyone else lol

Sterling and Morgan

These two were so sweet. Sterling took a little bit to accept that Morgan, a lion shifter, would accept/be okay that he was a Unicorn. This is a great fated mates series.

So we have Morgan a lion shifter omega and Sterling a alpha unicorn. Sterling feels less then because he doesn't have a beast in side of him & all other shifters have their "human" side & their "shifter" side. Both of our MC's friends pressure our boys into trying to find love through the "love & hate" app. They find out they are mates. Sterling is afraid to let Morgan see him. But once they have a run together, things progress pretty quickly from there. I loved the Mpreg portion & haven't read that little twist before.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

I was somewhat excited about this book. I've only ever read other 2 stories with unicorn shifters and they were both... meh? So, while I didn't have high hopes for this one I was a bit excited cause previous entries have been at least entertaining. And although it didn't end up as good as it could've been (I'm sure) it was a good read.

To begin with, I'm not sure I was sold on the whole lion shifter being an omega. Lions, like Morgan says, are often portrayed as alpha creatures, in control, domineering and demanding, so at times it felt as if Morgan was playing an out-of-character bit, it felt off, specially when the mpregnancy part came into play. Sterling as the alpha was ok, cause unicorn for me have always been very neutral, but because of certain attitudes, at times he felt more omega... and I'm not being "mysoginistic" here, it's just that playing stereotypes in books is common for omega-alpha romances and in this book felt confusing, sometimes doing the stereotype and sometimes coloring outsides the lines with another color.

I did like their stories, how they meet and the drama surrounding their getting together. The part other shifters, their friends play, cause neither is part of a family per-se like in previous entries were there was a claw, a den, a pack... so it shows a bit of a found-family story which I can relate to and love. It makes sense and it's quite richer when it comes to LGBT+ books cause it's relevant in today's real life, without it being too realistic to break the magic of the story cause there's a racoon shifter in the story...

There were a few bits outside their relationship plot-line, like Sterlin's job at the dinner and letting go of his personal fears about being different to other shifters and Morgan's total control and overwork at his company but they weren't talked about as much, while this was the case for Matched to his Dragon, I felt it would've given both characteres a better background here, and perhaps a bit more development for their omega-alpha sides to make sense.

This is the first 3 stars I give. It was good, but I've read better in this same saga. I do recommend reading it, cause it's still good and introduces new characters for the following entries. Otherwise... it was ok.

Sterling and Morgan have become my favorite mated couple from the "Dates of Our Lives" series.

Sterling - a unicorn alpha who lives in the in-between. His animal and human side are not exactly two separate entities. Somehow cohabitants of the same form. He lives in a perpetual alertness because of what he is. Not able to have real relationships. Friendships are limited. Intimacy in next to non-existent. Aside from his well built friendships, he is very lonely and (was convinced by said friends) tried the dating app.

Morgan is a lion omega who owns and runs his own business. His dominating shifter animal is naturally aggressive. Definitely in love with his mane. Has a goldfish named, Gilbert. Not part of a pride and also very limited in friendships. Although he made it a point to swear off dating, his inner circle manage to convince him to give it one more try. Morgan tries the dating app and receives a match.
OMG, Morgan's dialogue when he tried to dress for his date, was beyond hilarious.

Morgan and Sterling are matched on the dating app. After agreeing to meet, they hit it off...a little to well. Sterling becomes fearful of letting Morgan see him for who he really is. Thinking he's not worthy of the love that Morgan is trying to show him. The omega has such wonderful patience with his unicorn alpha mate. More than willing to wait until Sterling was ready to move forward.

A run together in animal form, broke down the last walls left and things progressed rather quickly after that.
So many fascinating details with this unusual pairing. These weren't the typical mating bites exchanged between them, although theirs was incredibly unique and adorable. The pregnancy story was even more entertaining and oh so sweet. Shared milestones are an understatement.

Trust, compassion, friendship, love, romance, patience and a loving support system of friends, made all the difference for Sterling and Morgan.

**I received this ARC for my honest feedback.**

Alpha unicorn Sterling is tired of being lonely. In desperation, he tries a dating app. Omega lion shifter Morgan has had a ton of dates and is sick and tired of the whole dating thing. He is a work-a-holic and he’s rather put his time in there than trying to find a perfect match. He decides to just delete the app and forget about it, but just as he moves toward it, he gets a match! Should he go for it? At least open it?

When they finally meet for a date, Morgan immediately knows Sterling is his. But Sterling has very little experience and he panics and runs. He doesn’t know how to act and is embarrassed. Will Sterling come back and give their relationship a chance? Will Morgan convince him they are right for each other?

This book is different and fun. I liked having shifter types we usually don’t get to see, such as the lion and unicorn. We will also find a unique characteristic of the unicorn shifter that will become important. They take on the symptoms of their pregnant mate, so even though Sterling is an Alpha, the reader will want to watch him for signs of morning sickness and labor pains, all the joys of pregnancy and delivery. This alone will make it a fascinating read as Morgan won’t know he’s pregnant until he sees the signs in Sterling… if the inexperienced Sterling even knows about these things! Yes, this book is different and will take you on a journey you most likely haven’t made before. And it will definitely be a period of adjustment for these two!

Commento:

Alpha unicorns can do what?!

I just love The Dates of Our Lives series! The Love/Hate dating app... priceless. Welcome back to the world of the Yummy Diner, Greg & Finn of "Shifter World", and a host of quirky shifters. I am so comfortable here, feeling right at home. This story has a new twist on pregnancy. Sterling is an alpha unicorn who thinks there is no mate for him. Morgan is an omega lion who never expects to find a mate. But matched by the app, they find each other and start a journey of discovery. Like, how did Sterling not know unicorns take on the burden of their pregnant mate's symptoms? Morning sickness, labor pains. And the sexy times are smoking. Look for great, nosy friends, good food, snuggles, moonlight runs, and picnics. Ooh, and an adorable baby. You are gonna love this book. It is everything I have come to expect from Lorelei & Colbie, & more. I can't wait for the next book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Sterling and Morgan story was so sweet and interesting. I really loved the unicorn and lion pairing, how well they blended together, and some interesting and intriguing facts that will make you endear to the unicorns.
I loved their mating ritual, how they fought to be together, get over their insecurities and forging a happy and complete life together. The baby is an adorable bundle of joy that brings them happiness.
I also loved the characters dynamic and development, how they integrate in their circle of friends and how they support each other in the times of need.
You would be pleasantly surprised by some events and be grateful for all the love, acceptance, understanding and support the characters find from their chosen family.
It was an amazing read and can't wait to read what happens next.

I know I have said in the past reviews that I'm loving this series. The Love and Hate app is matching all kinds of shifters and it is oh so entertaining and sweet. When I heard about a unicorn match I was excited...a first for me and Sterling was all that I would have imagine a lovely unicorn to be. He's an alpha but not the typical cocky but the silent strong type who just need a little love in his life. When he is matched up with with the very self confident omega, who happens to be a fabulous lion, Morgan, the fun and awesomeness begins. I absolutely loved this match. I couldn't help imagining both with their "mane" and just thought how beautiful they are...beautiful animals...beautiful romance. Nice!

I always love reading stories by these two authors. Once again they have written a beautiful story about an alpha unicorn who has a low self esteem and lack of self worth and paired him to an omega lion who knows he is strong and everything his mate will need. The way these two get together and fall in love is beautiful and exciting. Sterling is a beautiful mystical being but so out of touch with himself that he has yet to experience love of both the physical and emotional kind. Morgan is confident in himself but wants to find his mate that won’t sneeze while making love to him. His lion takes notice of Stirling after their one date. They have a lot to go through but they do have their happily ever after.

You were meant for me (sung to the song tune, of course)! Sterling is an alpha unicorn, but doesn't consider himself a shifter. Morgan is an omega lion. Their friends encouraged each of them to use the dating app. When they saw each other, they were in instant lust and bravely faced the challenge of playign putt putt on their first date. They could not really sense each other's animal, which was a bit of a challenge. Sterling was afraid to expose his other self because of his perceived roadblocks. Morgan, wanted to be patient. Will Sterling accept himself and loosen up? Can Morgan make his way around Sterling's blocks? How much will friends help? Good story. I spent a lot of time shaking my head at Sterling. He is not very traditionally alpha like. Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not A Good Read!

After reading the previous four books in the series, my expectations were high. Unfortunately, this novel sadly lacks the pace and cadence of the previous books. It seems that the authors were trying to hard to bring in characters (that are going to be focused on in future books) than that of the two protagonists.
I found the two protagonists both had appalling personalities, yet we are meant to be rooting for them and wanting them to have a "HEA"!
I do feel that the story was dragged out, uneventful, and jarring. It was very difficult to get into.
It's becoming increasingly common in Lorelei M. Hart's Omegaverse books that she likes to have the characters go against types (Alpha's who act more like Omegas and vice versa).
In my opinion, the one word that sums this book is forgettable.

Matched to His Unicorn is Book 5 in The Dates of Our Lives series. This wonderful addition to the series is about Sterling, an alpha unicorn shifter, and Morgan, an omega lion shifter. With the help of the Love and Hate dating app, Sterling and Morgan are matched up. Though they are both strong characters I loved how Sterling was the inexperienced one, the alpha who was tired of being alone but had never gone on a date. I also loved Sterling's special abilities when it came to his mate. I loved Sterling and Morgan together. They were perfectly matched and a joy to watch as they journeyed to their happy ending together. This is such an enjoyable sweet story and I can't wait for more in this series. Definitely recommend.

Sterling is a very unhappy unicorn alpha, as he is neither completely human, nor is he a shifter, as he does not share his body with an animal. He is the unicorn. When he is finally persuaded to put his profile on a shifter/human dating app he is very apprehensive, but still goes to the date to meet Morgan.
Morgan is a lion shifter omega and soon he and his lion are sure that Sterling is their mate - but how to get Sterling to believe he is enough for this unusually strong omega?
An interesting twist is that there is a kind of role reversal, with the omega being the predator animal and the alpha the grazer....which also shows strongly in their characters. Engagingly written and entertaining..

This is a quick and entertaining story with intriguing characters and a sweet ending. Sterling and Morgan are both sweethearts and I like how their relationship evolves. They are exactly what the other needs and I enjoyed their journey to their HEA. My favorite part of this story are the wonderful and supportive secondary characters as they add so much to this book. I do wish that there was more background information about Sterling and Morgan as well as more world building but as I jumped into this series at Book #5 this may have been dealt with in the previous stories.

AS UNIQUE AS A UNICORN

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Morgan is an omega lion who is tired of being lonely. Sterling is an alpha unicorn that has problems with being what he is. He feels he is not a normal shifter as he does not have a separate entity to his unicorn. This story is unique in the way the two shifters’ problems take a different turn as they are different and involves magic. The interactive problems and answers help them find their HEA.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Both Morgan and Sterling had joined a dating app and didn't have much luck although Morgan's previous date was funny. When they meet, they hit it off right away but Sterling runs away. Happenstance brings them together again and Sterling's fears about his unicorn are laid to rest. I believe from what they experienced before mating that they were meant for each other. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this unicorn and lion mating and their pregnancy. Of course Mani and Gilbert are adorable.

Love-Hate App!

Sterling, a unicorn, and Morgan, a lion, meet on a dating app. The app has you listing something you love and something you hate and the app matches you. Sterling is convinced that he will never find his perfect omega. And Morgan wants to find his alpha to love. From the first moment they spend together, both are drawn to each other.

Mpreg is one of my favorite tropes to read about and Lorelei M Hart and Colbie Dunbar are at the top of the list of favorite authors.

Sweet easy read
Enjoyable read Morgan and Stirling 's story is a good addition to the series. Stirling is an alpha, unicorn shifter, who feels alone as he is the only one around. Morgan is an omega, lion shifter, who spends all his time building up his business.
They meet on the dating app, after Stirling running away from their first date Morgan finds him by chance. Their relationship is unique.

Sooo good

What a great adventure. This is a super intriguing story. Loved the way the storyline plays out. You get adventure and romance with great exciting characters. Sterling is a unicorn and I enjoyed his character so much. Morgan is a omega lion matched to a unicorn and it was a interesting plot. They are great together and they get a HEA. Matched to his Unicorn by Lorelei M. Hart and Colbie Dunbar is the fifth book in the  Dates of Our Lives series. So very sweet with sexy knotty heat... this mm shifter mpreg story made me smile.  I loved the lion and unicorn mating and the way the mpreg played out...that way fun and interesting twist.  I absolutely adored these characters and highly recommend this for my fellow mpreg lovers.

Great story

This was another wonderful story about the Love and Hate app. Each story can be read as a stand-alone but you might find a mention or two of other characters from the series. This story contains a unicorn and a lion. Can two very different animals work out or are they too different? I really enjoyed this story.
