Kouhei meets a vampire girl named Hazuki at an old German castle, and she follows him home to Japan in order to look for her mother, but the two are constantly at battle over her unethical use of her vampire powers and embroiled in mysterious adventures.
I'm not wowed by this so far. The art is okay, kind of simple, the story... too soon to tell where it's going. I did like the understated humor, and I'm mildly curious about what the various mysterious adults know/have planned for the two young protagonists. I'll probably get the next volume.
It ended with the brat, I mean heroine, getting a magic cat.
Another re-read and this was great fun. It was definitely time to re-read this one. See Hazuki again and her wild antics and desperate moves to get Kouhei to be her slave (girl, he is never going to be that). I loved her ears and her determination. Kouhei was a bit too dense for me (I know that part is something else that will be revealed later) though I did love how he just kept going in a spooky castle. No fear whatsoever. It's been a while so I don't remember everything so this was definitely a fun re-read and I cannot wait to read the whole series. I did think at times it was a bit too much, with the whole Hazuki swimming in the pool. I mean, I get she is a vampire so maybe she not the age she looks, but still... I don't need to see naked boobs on a girl who looks 10-12.

I am re-reading this series. I was in the mood for some vampires/magic/romance. :)
The manga is pretty good, though I didn't like all the things (mostly to do with how Hazuki acts and how she is drawn at times, it just doesn't fit with how old/young she is).
Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase, Volume 1 is a fun vampire manga with a mix of mystery and humor. Hazuki, a vampire girl, meets Kouhei and follows him to Japan, leading to strange and magical adventures.
What I liked most was how the moon phase affects Hazuki’s powers—something that reminded me of the real-life connections we explore on https://moonphasesoulmates.com/ . If you enjoy stories tied to moon energy and fate, this one’s worth checking out!
I think I've landed on 2 stars for this manga. I picked it up from my library since they have the full run, but I'm not impressed. It's a vampire story, but seems to have very little plot and zero intrigue. I have the second volume from the library as well, so I'll give that a shot, but this was disappointing.
I enjoyed the drawings but I did not really get into it allot, the characters seemed to be dull and no real character at all, did not get much of a story on the main female character, just seemed to rush in quite a bit
I enjoy the anime more but this style from the early 2000s was very enjoyable. It’s cutesy and simplistic and I wish they had finished publications in America.
This is a beautiful illustrated manga. We follow Cameraman Kouhei Midou while he is researching a schwarz Quelle castle 🏰.where he meets Hazuki a mysterious girl who is trapped in the castle. Life becomes interesting as he continues his research this is an enjoyable book and can't wait to find out what happens in the series
While researching an old castle, photographer Kouhei stumbles across a young vampire girl named Hazuki. She's been trapped there for years and upon meeting Kouhei, decides to make him her slave with a bite.
The story gets a little freaky when Kouhei agreed to let Hazuki kiss him and when she's naked at the hot spring. Um... gross, much? (Note: while America doesn't make this distinction, some countries separate sexual nudity from non-sexual; non-sexual nudity isn't considered "dirty," but seeing kids naked in any sense is a little too much for me).
Overall, the plot wasn't very exciting; it didn't develop anything new about vampires; it sticks to stereotypes. Unfortunately, this makes it forgettable. Perhaps this will be expanded upon in future volumes; however, I didn't find the story compelling enough to read on.
All I knew about this before reading was that the little girl in it is a vampire. It read more like a comedy, though. The vampire girl is cute, but the boy who finds her is kind of an lump. Then it got a little weird(not a fan of seeing little girls naked). It wasn't quite as deep as some other mangas I've read (the characters aren't very interesting, and the artwork isn't as detailed), and it only took maybe half an hour total to read this. I got the anime to watch from the library at the same time, so I guess I'll have to see if I enjoy that more. [5/15/08: I actually did enjoy the anime more--the guy was less dorky, and I actually thought the artwork was better. The theme song ("Neko Mimi Mode" aka Kitty Ear Mode) however was a bit strange--very quirky perky Japanese, and didn't seem to fit the mood of the story].
A very cute and funny book. Have only read the first in the series but i did enjoy it. It didn't keep any hold on me when I finished it which is a shame, I read this one quite a while ago and haven't looked into buying the others, I believe there are better series out there. The art is a bit bland, so it's not really anything special to look at, the vampire thing has been done over and over again, I didn't find this one to be that original, it was just another book to read really as it did sound interesting. I think I will pick up the rest of the series eventually but after I have finished the series that are keeping my interest the most.
honestly, i was sooo disapointed when this turned out to be a vampire series. i was hoping it was going to be a neko- something, but alas, it was not. don't get me wrong, i like the vampire general idea, and own several vampire series, but i'm burnt out on the whol notion. you get one popular series, and all in the sudden vampires are everywhere, whether they were done well or not.
oh, and to add insult to injury, the artwork next to blew. it's minimal in appearance, and not in a good way. the expressions on the characters was it's only saving grace.
Didn't do much for me. Not too fond of the characters, so far there's not much plot to speak of...
So the main character, Kouhei, is immune (or just plain oblivious) to all things supernatural. This extends to vampire bites. There's also Hazuki, a somewhat incompetent vampire whose inner cat ears pops out occasionally.
They're searching for her mother, who disappeared for some reason.
There's not much to this one, really. It's a bit disappointing.
So I completely forgot I had already read this and convinced myself that the anime must follow the manga very closely, lol. This first volume didn't appeal to me much this time either. Something about Luna's attitude is a big turn off for me here and wasn't too sure about where this story was going to go after this. It felt pretty closed.
I LOVED IT. The characters were cute and adorable, and the plot was also really good. I absolutely loved the banter between the two main characters, and I absolutely loved how it had a balance of both romance and comedy and action. It would die down the action before picking back up, making the story all the more amazing. all in all, I loved the story.
Everything about this manga is average - average vampire story and average artwork. It's quite enjoyable though, and the story might get better in later volumes. But I'll probably never find out because there's many better manga to buy.
Really, I would give this a 3.50 stars, but since that is not an option, 4 stars it is, because the story drew me in and caused me to want to find out what was going to happen next. There's some cute comedy found throughout, which I enjoyed.
Moon Phase is incredible!! Hazuki is a very nice funny and creative girl who has been in a castle for several years then a guy finds her, then after the story gets interesting. It's a romantic funny kind of manga. My favorite manga by far !! =) =)
I read this series all the way to Volume 12, but then I found out that the publishing company had dropped it's plans to publish the last 4 Volumes in English. I really loved the series, especially when it got close to the end... I just really want to know what happened to Kouhei's mother!
I very happily began reading Manga once again, and began reading this Manga due to a suggestion by a friend. It iw witty, cute, and a great read for anyone wanting that true Manga style.
