The phoenix sovereign of Westhold might not want Sam for anything more than their hunter skills, but that won’t stop the sabertoothed hunter from defending their unclaimed mate—and the stupid utopian city of equality that Theo insists on building.
Things heat up in the last installment of the Not Quite series…and someone might just get burned.
Author’s Note:
I love reverse harem, but I got sick of reading the same old tropes. In my books you will find atypical characters and varied sexuality. In general, you probably won’t find many alpha males or fainting females, and relationships may have a more poly feel.
The Not Quite series is a harem/reverse harem urban fantasy series of novellas (between 35,000-45,000 words) and contains the following:
*adult language, and lots of it
*moderate levels of violence/gore/action
*graphic sexual situations
*polyamory/ multiple lovers
*LBGTQ and straight themes (the main character is intersex and will have both male and female lovers, and this is a harem, so expect M/F, M/M, F/F, MMMFF etc.)
*as usual, my characters all have their own emotional scars. This means the books MAY contain mentions of abuse, unpleasant situations, etc. Please do not read if you are triggered by things like this. This book in particular includes references to past abuse or mistreatment, physical, mental, and sexual.
*occasional “cliff-hangers” or lead-ins to the next book may occur, though generally at least one major plot arc shows completion or at the very least, forward progress.
*word count does not include teaser chapters or other fluff material at the end.
Sometimes our greatest strengths come from our deepest challenges. I write magic and romance, starring a cast of creatures with feathers, fins, and teeth. My books include paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and fantasy romance--with the occasional steampunk or alien story thrown in just for kicks. My pan heart firmly believes love is love, so you'll see straight, LGBTQIA, monogamous, reverse harem, and poly relationships in my work. My favorite theme is overcoming our inner demons and the insecurities that hold us back. I also advocate for self-development and mental health and dabble in non-fiction as time allows. I love the outdoors and still hope to be abducted by fae! (I may have more in common with my characters than I care to admit.)
I love to hear from readers!

It was a refreshing change that I never thought I would get a chance to read. It was amazing to follow Sam’s journey. From accepting love from others, learning to accept that that love encompassed all of whom they were. Strong message of being true to yourself and loving all of yourself. Also a positive light on making changes for equality for everyone no matter the differences. Everyone has a right to be and do what they love/want to do.
This series was amazeballs and I really enjoyed reading about a character that was so different than the "normal" ones.
Most of the books with any kind of one "stand-out" characters tend to be fully about only that part instead of it being a part of the story, as just a normal thing.
I'd like to read other books with a character like this, if anyone knows any?
I can't believe it's over, it just snuck up on me. That ending needs another book at least if not a second series. Absolutely fabulous with all the sex's and the emotions. Going to move onto another Kaye's series. Can't wait to read more. JL
I really enjoyed this ending. Sam is a bit of a douche at times but they have a heart of gold underneath. It sure took a lot of effort for her mates to unearth their gooey center.
We got 609 pages and 6 books total in this series and it still isn't enough. I would happily read through 6 more books and it STILL might not be enough. I love this series with my whole entire heart and I love each and every one of these characters so dearly. I know I will remember them for a long time to come. I'm not ready for it all to end! I'm going to go snoop through this author's website and social media searching for crumbs at this point. Maybe I'll find a bonus scene? I don't even know. I'm absolutely wrecked. All I know is that this might be my favorite series of all time.
I like the way things ended up for Sam. It's amazing what happens once Sam gets out of their own way. Theo grew on me the last few books and continued during this one. Em, Fin, and Angel continue to be as lovable in their own way. As Em said, Sam deserves to be loved.
Not Quite Whole, really ended the series well! Sam had a huge growth, I believe, as the MC, and you could really see that by the last installment. Maybe it was all their mates, and maybe it was just them growing as a person. I hope to see more from this world from Ms. Draper, because it was super interesting!
I like how this series came together in the end. The characters have undergone a lot throughout this book and the punches weren’t pulled from emoting. The spicy scenes were extra spicy 🌶
I was thoroughly charmed by this series. An interesting premise for the hero/heroine. Cleverly written. Laugh out loud funny at times. What a wonderful world you created!
No spoilers... I could not put this book down! I loved it! Thank you soooo much for making books that are not “normal” this series gave me warm fuzzies!
You know I never imagine the three-headed giraffe before but the image is kind of scary now lol. The last book in this serious and I'm glad everyone came together. I loved the end.
6 books and we get only a quarter of one book w Sam and Theo being actual mates?? istg the only thing saving this is that the plot is actually interesting, and I like the banter
This is the final book in a 6 book series and can’t be read alone. You need to read the rest of the books to make sense of it. The first book is Not Quite Human .
Sam is finally starting to mellow. Spending time with people who love them has been good for their sense of well being. Sam will always be snarky and prone to violence but their anger is more of a simmer than a conflagration these days.
The only fly in the ointment of Sam’s love life is Theo. Theo has wriggled his way under Sam’s skin and they don’t know what to do about it. Bonding with Angel after loving him from afar for years has lead to Sam coming round to the idea that mating might not be the trap they always thought it was.
Along with not knowing what to do with Theo on a personal level, Sam is frustrated with him on a professional level. Theo wants to ‘come out’ as a fiend to thwart his cousin’s plan to expose him, but Sam thinks that could lead to bloody violence throughout the whole town.
I have really enjoyed this series. Sam is a wonderfully spiky and yet loving character. They are loyal and quarrelsome at the same time as being kind and yet still being violent. All their personality ‘quirks’ are totally understandable and I like that they are working on how they relate to their loved ones.
This book nicely rounds off the series and wraps up all the loose ends. We get a fun happy ever after, even with all the bumps along the way. Kaye Draper does write such interesting romances and this is no different. She shows that love comes in all forms as do people.
