The Little Mouse in My House

Rate this book
"How can I get this little mouse out of my house?"
This is the fun, rhyming kids' book about the little mouse who would not leave the cat's house. What can the cat do to get the little mouse out of his house? Can he scare him with his jaws or pointy claws? Can he entice him with a scone to get off the telephone?
No need to have anywhere else to look, as this is sure to be your child's favorite bedtime reading book! Read the story out loud and its sure to make any child proud. This book is sure to be a classic, like those creatures that used to roam around during the Jurassic. So buy this book if you love to rhyme as there is nothing better out there to pass the time!
Rhyming is a great way to build reading and literacy skills for your young child. When children hear and say rhymes, they are beginning to hear sounds within words and identify when those sounds are the same which helps build phonological awareness. By doing this children can develop their oral skills as they say rhymes. The Mouse in My House is a fantastic rhyming book that helps children begin to build their language skills by letting them predict the word will end the sentence.

Adorable

Sweet story about a mouse that seemingly has taken over a house, at least from the resident cat's point of view. Beautifully illustrated.

I loved this updated version of Goldilocks! Who is sitting in the cat's chair? The mouse!

This would be a great bedtime story for the little ones. I love the drawings of the unhappy cat and the contented mouse.

A cat hollered out there is a little mouse in my house.
When he got back from fishing the mouse was still in the house.
The cat was getting very annoyed upset because the mouse would not leave.

Will the mouse ever leave?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great white or colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) mouse adventure storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s mouse adventure movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

I can't stand when it's obvious that rhymes are being forced and repeated over and over Storyline didn't offer much either

Really attractive, colorful artwork🎨

Loved the pictures and the poor displaced cat's expressions as he fumes over a mouse taking over his house. The story is told in rhyme, some less successful than the majority with odd choice of words. Using the word derriere to fit the rhyming scheme, for example, just seemed forced.

The artwork is this story's big strength; great bedtime or story time book.

The title says it all: there's a mouse in the house, and the cat wants it out! The mouse doesn't seem to have noticed that the cat has lost his key, and he overstays his welcome. How rude!

In some ways, this book is in the spirit of Green Eggs and Ham. It's silly and uncomplicated, making it a great choice for readers who are just building confidence. The rhythm is all wonky at times, making the poetic structure questionable, but it made me smile.

Adorable

Love the illustrations. Made such an angry cat look so sweet pouting over the mouse in his house.

Story was cute as well. Follow a cat who gets locked out after a day of fishing, only to find a mouse moved in. Uses rhyming and the mood of the cat to push the story forward.

Recommend mainly to early readers. To anyone who loves cats. My 10 yr old even enjoyed the grumpy expressions on the silly cat.

Penny and Parker are penguins. They wake up excited. It is the day of the penguin Olympics. When they get down to the Olympic playing field they see their friends. Their friends are sad. There is a big ice block in the middle of the field. They try to move it on their own. When they can’t move it they have to think of another way. This is a great book about friendship and teamwork. It leaves a message of never giving up.

We were split

I have three kids and when we read a nighttime story, we pick how many stars it should get. We were torn between 1 star and 3 stars. It was ok, just nothing special. The rhymes were consistent but the story was not exciting. My 8 yr old thought it was a decent book. My almost 7 year old thought there were too many holes in the plot.

A Mouse In a Cat's House?

This poor cat had all the sympathies of my grandson and I as he contends with being left out of the wet and cold. The mouse was pretty funny though, as he just ignores the cat entirely and thoroughly enjoys the cat's house. The suspense grew for us both until the delightful ending. It's very well-written and the illustrations are adorable.

Cute

This is a cute book with cute illustrations, especially the little mouse. I think kids would enjoy the rhyming and the illustrations of the frustrated cat. They may have their own ideas of how to remove the mouse from the house.

Cute illustrations

I loved the illustrations and rhymes. I didn’t really understand why the mouse finally left though. It wasn’t super clear for me, but cute and colorful otherwise!

Lovely story

This was such a cute little kids story. I liked the play in words and how the roles got reversed with the cat and mouse. My son liked the story as well and the drawings were beautiful.

Loved this rhyming story

My children loved this book which had a great rhyming rhythm. There were able to guess the ending of each sentence based on the similar rhyming word. Mouse and house were great words to focus on in the story as a more remembered set of words. A bust read.

Cute rhyming story

This is cute and fun to read with young children. There are quite a few words that will likely be new for them so they’ll probably need to be explained. The rhyming is great for teaching youngsters too.

Cute

A cute story with gorgeous illustrations. It’s a fun story of a cat who gets locked out of his house by a cheeky little mouse. I think that kids will enjoy this, some of the words for rhyming may need to be explained to younger ones, but overall a lovely book.

Fun

When a cat leaves his house to get fish to eat, a mouse takes over. I liked the rhymes and the beautiful artwork, but it didn't really have a moral. It did have a happy ending, though.
