We started working with Marty at the start of 2020 after listening to his podcast and I can honestly say, the amount we have learnt from him, has been life changing both personally, and for our business.
Me and my partner are young leaders (in our 30’s) and we own a medium sized business with under 10 staff. We had already gained so much from Marty before reading the book, I wasn’t sure how much more we could learn, but I was extremely (pleasantly) surprised!

The No Bullsh!t Leadership audiobook is honestly one of the best books I have listened to. It has given me the motivation and inspired me to be a better leader. A lot of what’s in the book is transferable to both business and your personal life, so if you are in two minds about whether this book is suitable for you, I would say you will learn so much from it, whatever level you are at. I have studied, read and listened to multiple other books on business and leadership, and always found it difficult to put ideas into practice. This book gives you practical, achievable tips and tricks to reach excellence. I have bought 20 hard copies of the book to give to clients who I think will benefit from the information in the book as I really believe every leader should have this knowledge!

I give this book 5 stars and I encourage every leader (or aspiring leader) at any level to read it. I promise, you won’t regret it!

I wanted to read this book not just for the sake of learning something about leadership but more about knowing what to watch out for and above all, as a facilitator working with rural communities, to know how to get the most out of people because collaboration/teamwork is key in my kind of work.
I loved this book, from the very beginning, the author states what he is talking about and why- no promises of success or of getting it right the first time, but what he said that made me relate to this book is that leadership at the core is about people and that in itself is ever changing and not easy. I appreciated that kind of honesty.
He also goes through the seven areas of leadership in detail.
I feel like this book is more suited to anyone who not only wants to engage people in doing a task, but also changemakers, advocates and those in structured/hierarchical institutions. It's a detailed book on people, actions, and leadership.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC.

Working with Martin over the past couple of years, I've come to respect him as someone who says exactly what he means and does what he says. So when he writes a book with this title, you can believe it is exactly that -- and an invaluable guide to leadership for people who want to know how to do it well, shorn of all the optics, politics, and bs. Moore argues that a leader's job is to create value, however the organization he/she is leading defines that, and then proceeds to explain very simply and clearly how you add value. This is the one book all leaders who are serious about leading need.

Being a regular, frequent and repeat listener of the "No Bullsh!t Leadership" podcast, I must admit I was skeptical as to what new content Martin Moore could possibly offer through the book. Boy was I wrong....Marty just smashes this out of the park! The way he brings in a relatable real-life experience as part of the narrative to drive home his key messages is just fantastic. This book is almost a mini-MBA course (or maybe even better). A must-read & a must-own book for any leader who wants to improve.

Leadership is hard, but if you are looking looking for practical framework with implementable tools you can use the next day this is the book for you. Whether you are a new leader or an experienced leader who still wishes to learn more this is the book for you. As a leader your no 1 job really is to deliver results and value!. It provides a no fluff no bullshit approach. It will be the best no regrets move you will make by investing in this book.

I started following Martin G More 2 years ago on his No Bullshit Leadership Podcast which reignited my passion in leadership and where I can continue to improve and hone my skills as a leader.

I love the way each chapter starts with the "Bullshit We Believe". For me the 2 chapters I think leaders will get a lot of value out of this and the term "Respect before Popularity". Makes you think!

Chapter 4 was the pie in the face moment for me "Working at the Right Level". Certainly I am and have been guilty of this, and when you move into a new leadership role its really important to work on this and not be a micromanager. If you do, you will not only stagnate your growth, but most importantly your peoples growth, development and empowerment>

Another pie in the face moment was "Trusting people too Much" and has made me reflect on an area I still not there yet on and have to work on as a leader is "Trust but verify". Highly recommend this book for any leader and its a great resource you can pull off the shelf when down in the trenches the next day. Never forget Leaders are learners!! Its not often I will read a book in day but in lock down in Sydney what a great way to spend the day!!!

An incredibly fresh and comprehensive view on impactful leadership!

So often leadership texts are full of platitudes and ideals, but Martin Moore's writing lives up the name of the book, with no BS used whatsoever as he tackles real-life leadership head on. The value of the author having trodden the path himself is clear, and the frequency with which you hear "for example" is testament to the value his career as a successful executive brings to the reader.

In terms of writing style, the books reads incredibly easily. Don't expect a comfortable experience overall though - this book will challenge you deeply to reflect on your own leadership effectiveness and that discomfort will certainly prompt positive change for you.

Highly recommended for leaders of any level, and future leaders looking for enlightenment ahead of time.

I've read lots of books on leadership through study and personal interest and this one takes the cake. Congratulations Martin for giving us the bible "No Bullshit Leadership". We have to find our own way to become a good leader and Martin shares credible insights that go beyond the textbook and into our workplace. As Martin states, most advice is true but not useful. Great leaders are ones others want to follow, value excellence (momentum) over perfection (inertia) and surround themselves with the best people. My biggest takeaway; ask the right questions of yourself and others and a calm confidence in your leadership emerges, especially under pressure. It's contagious! And the little exercises at the end of each chapter keep us honest. So get a copy and read it!

The best thing about this book is that it's just so relatable. Even though Marty was a CEO of a multi billion dollar energy company, and I run a small team of food marketers, every page had something I resonated with, could implement or challenged my way of thinking.

I first discovered No BS Leadership via the podcast, so if you're a fan of that, then you'll love this book. It's the framework your leadership career has always needed but in a very enjoyable, very articulate read, along with a few home truths.

I’ve been a long time Podcast listener and have even taken Martin’s course so am a huge fan of everything he has done. Having the book on hand should be mandatory for any leader at every level. Martin’s way of voicing these concepts provides an ease and tone to help you build a foundation that you can build your leadership style on top of. Even his smallest tips are useful in the every day, but with the broad concept son hand now you’ll have the tools to lead and influence in the best way you can.

This is a MUST read for anyone in a Leadership role, aspiring to be in Leadership or responsible for Leadership Development. The genius is in the simplicity with which Martin explains, with a rare practicality and clarity, the "How To" of Leadership. I really liked that Martin pinpointed what leaders actually do to create the Holy Grail of business - a sustainable culture of excellence where people become more than they ever dreamed they could become while delivering results and value add. Five stars from me.

Good advice for those in leadership positions. I've made most of the mistakes in the book. I do not know if reading about those before making them is helpful, because leadership comes through experience. However, it helped me acknowledge the mistakes I made, which is already a win. E.g. if you are a leader and trying to work harder than everyone else, then you are not doing your job. Delegation is a powerful tool, but only works in the hands of a good and trusting leader. Will read it again in 5 years time.

I love Marty’s approach to leadership. His way of talking about it is very tangible and easy to understand. He really cuts all the crap and gets to the point. This world would be so much nicer if every leader followed at least half of what’s in this book.

This book is great not only for leaders on every level but actually also for everyone else so that you know what to request from your leaders. One risk though, as this book might make you realize how bad leadership in your organization is.

It delivers real and insightful guidance and practical tools to help with leadership mastery. This book contains some nice, practical lessons on leadership that can be implemented immediately. In my opinion, it complements the more academic literature on leadership quite nicely. I found myself drawing parallels between some of what Moore writes in his book and what I've read in leadership articles from HBR and other sources. In my view, this book is well worth the investment in time and money for anyone who's serious about improving their leadership skills.

Essential read for new leaders!

Martin's book was recommended to me following a promotion where I moved to a team lead role. No BS Leadership has opened my eyes and pushed me to change my mindset on how to approach leadership and the role and responsibilities of myself and the people I lead.

The framework provides a clear structure which is easy to recall and refer back to while the practical examples littered through out help to reinforce the messages being delivered.

This book is a great guide to help improve leadership skills and direct you to what’s most important about being a leader. As a leader, we all are capable to change, grow, and improve. Martin Moore gives us the guidelines on how to actually do that and where to focus.

By far, the very best leadership book I've ever read. Confirmed some things I sensed, opened my eyes to some things I wasn't aware of. This is staying on my desk.

Best 3 books for your career, in my opinion, not in order:
1. This one - Best leadership book
2. Your Road Map for Success by John Maxwell - Best book for career prep early on
3. Book of Proverbs (Bible), Message translation - Best book on human psyche and business ethics

An overall solid assessment of the key behaviours and skills required to be a performant leader of leaders. Nothing complicated and focused on what truly matters, to the point where if you feel uncomfortable with some these behaviours, you have to question yourself if this kind of role is for you. The author also lists some specific and actionable tips to help bring the concepts to life. One of the best book on leadership I have read.

I’ve read many leadership books but this one may as well be the best one. It elaborates on the 7 core competencies that are a must for an exceptional leader. These are: delivering value, working at the right levels, clearly defining accountabilities, resilience under stress, embracing conflict, mastering ambiguity and quick decision making.

I recommend it to everyone in any leadership position!
