Escape to the Gulf Coast of Florida with Georgia Carpenter as she gets a second chance at life, love, and happiness.
With a hurricane barreling toward Blackbird Beach, Georgia Carpenter is faced with new problems and the need to work faster than ever. The last thing she needs is more damage to the inn, but she can’t control nature.
What she can control is how the people around her weather that storm. In a bid to protect those she loves, she pulls them all close, opening her new home as a place of shelter.
Everything’s going fine, too, until the man she’s falling for, Travis Taylor, reveals he has a storm of his own going on. Will the changes in his life mean changes in Georgia’s too?
Life continues at Blackbird Beach, Florida as Georgia, her family, and friends work toward getting the inn up and running. A big glitch happens when a hurricane barrels their way. But thankfully, they have a whole house generator to get them and more folks through it. It seems that romance is in the air as not only Georgia and Travis get closer. Her son, Griffin, and daughter, Mia, each have eyes on someone special. Other surprises are in the jam-packed addition. I am looking forward to the next story.
Georgia Carpenter and her family are in the middle of restoring the Seaglass Inn which she inherited from her aunt, when a hurricane is forecasted to hit the area in the next couple of days. Restoration work stops as windows are boarded up and supplies are laid in. As the storm draws closer, the family cat has disappeared. Georgia fears that the cat may be lost in the storm. Meanwhile, Travis Taylor receives a phone call from his estranged daughter. She and his nine-year-old grandson were on their way when their car broke down. Travis must face the storm as he drives out to rescue his family.
This chapter of the on-going story sounded like it would be exciting; but after the first hour everything seemed to be resolved. The rest of the story had neighbors sheltering at the inn during the storm, good news for Aunt Lily, and planning a party to introduce Travis as a candidate for town council. The story got a little boring with all of the party details. I'm hoping the next book moves the story along. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
Gulf Coast Sunsets Boo 8 is by Maggie Miller. This is the 8th book in the series. Georgia was left the Sea Glass Inn by her Aunt Norma. She had been getting it ready to reopen with the help of her kids and Travis, the handyman. Now a hurricane was headed for them. She has her kids, her granddaughter, her sister who just found out she had cancer, Miss Agatha and Miss Mary Lou were all gathered in the inn to ride out the storm. Travis has headed out to drive two hours to pick up his daughter and grandson who are stranded on their way to see him. He hasn’t seen his daughter for nine years and his grandson, never. Will they make it through the storm without any major damage to each other or to the house?

My thoughts: 📱There were some per peeves. 3-month-old controlling what movies you watch, 9-year-old talking like a toddler, but I loved almost everything else. I am disappointed to discover that I can't get more books by this author unless I renew Kindle Unlimited. I mean, I should at least be able to buy them; this is extortion. This series seems to be limited to Audible, so after book 8, I'll be without. I wonder who her publisher is. It makes me mad enough to take a break and read my other books.
You would think that with more characters being added into the mix, it would be a little more difficult to keep track of everyone, but it just continues to make the book more interesting. So far I'm still liking this series.
another fantastic listen, again felt like i was there with the characters from start to finish. i feel what they feel, this whole series is such a great escape into a beautiful reality
As the adventures continue, we are still getting the Sea Glass Inn ready to open. There is a hurricane headed straight for Blackbird Beach. Are we ready? Friends start to gather for safety at the inn, to ride out the remainder of the storm. We get another new face on the island and further the campaign to get Travis elected to Town Council. I am ready for the next book in the series.
A good continuation. Again, I loved the addition of new characters. I'm ready for more romance for Georgia's kids and excited to see what happens with Lily. One thing that bothered me was that Sam's son is supposed to be 9 but really acts more like a 6 year old. If a grown man tried to carry my 9 year old boy while he was sleeping, they would have a pretty hard time. He's almost as tall as me! Therefore, lifting him over the baby gate was a bit dumb.

If you have a difficult relative. Turns out you just need to invite them to this city and they will reform and think gentle loving thoughts from then on. Well all bar the Gillian who we never actually meet.
Nice continuation of the story but I do have an issue with the voice of a 9-year-old sounding like a 5-year-old. This must have slipped by the director of the audiobook. It's not enough to make me stop listening to the series, just enough to make it off-putting.
From driving around during a hurricane, taking the dog out, a cat easily accepting a newcomer into his domain, a sudden reprieve for a dying woman, and a witchy curse, there's just so much to disbelieve in this one. Still fun and relaxing, but a little silly.
The narrator for Griffin says “contenue” instead of continue and it bugs me every time. Very cheesy but there are 4 more books and I will be listening to the rest because I’m not a quitter.
The story has been progressing well through the series and I really enjoy it. the only thing I dislike is the fact that religion is being introduced. I don't mind a mention of doing something religious here and there but there are multiple times in the book where it seems to be just randomly thrown in. The funniest thing to me was that they ended the book by having a witch do a curse....😂. Being that anyone who doesn't understand what it actually means to be a witch will just go along with the story, I'm sure I'm the only one who feels like it is unnecessary and rude to portray a different religion in such a bad light. All in all the books is still good, just not as good as the ones before. I hope the story line that was introduced doesn't continue the misinformation about the practice of witchcraft and can be respectfuly changed to not reflect poorly on a religion that just happens to be a bit different than the "mainstream".

This is the fourth book in the series. I would definitely suggest starting at the beginning of the series. Each book starts where the previous one ended. In this one, a hurricane could potentially hit their area, so they spend a good portion of the book boarded up in the inn. This was a good book about rebuilding relationships. As was the case with the previous three books, this does end on a bit of a cliffhanger.
Like the previous books, this is a clean book. There are a few uses of the phrase "all h--- break loose" or a similar phrase, which some may consider swearing. Georgia and Travis continue to build their relationship. This does bother me a bit. I really do like them together, but she keeps making a big deal about how they can' pursue things until her divorce is final. They are definitely pursuing things beyond just friendship.
Enjoyed this book enough that I immediately jumped into listening to all 8 books in series. These are fun short Audiobooks that I got from Audible Plus catalog.
The plots developed characters and story lines with the ending of one book leading directly to the next book.
In book 1 Georgia inherits a Gulf coast cottage, just as she was needing a fresh start in middle of divorce from her cheating husband, nd we meet Travis the handyman. Then we meet her daughter Mia, who is also looking for a new start after her fiancé is caught cheating with her future brides maid.
In this book we are introduced to new characters and secrets.
In this book a hurricane approaches and Georgia bring family and town members we have met into the inn to keep them safe.
I'm not sure how I'm going to separate the reviews or if I will.
"Gulf Coast Sunsets" was such a delightful listen! I absolutely loved escaping to Blackbird Beach with Georgia Carpenter again. This book really delivered on all fronts. With a hurricane bearing down, Georgia's determination to protect everyone by opening her inn as a shelter was so heartwarming. You truly feel her spirit and commitment to those she cares about. Just when you think they're weathering the physical storm, Travis Taylor reveals his own personal upheaval, adding a fantastic layer of emotional depth. It kept me completely hooked, wondering how these changes would impact Georgia and their blossoming relationship. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the characters and the setting to life. If you're looking for a cozy listen with a touch of drama and a lot of heart, this is definitely it!
With a hurricane heading straight towards Blackbird Beach, the town is readying itself for landfall. It's all hands on deck at the Inn making sure they are as prepared as possible. As the storm rages and the town loses power, the Inn becomes a refuge for new friends. As scary as the storm is, Georgia is happy since she's surrounded by family and friends. It's a preview of the Inn's future, full of happy, well-cared-for guests.
This series is the perfect audiobook listen. It's lighthearted and doesn't require deep thinking or heavy concentration. It's a simple pleasure with delightful characters, light tension, and no drama. There's very little nastiness and problems are resolved quickly. These stories lighten my mood and make me happy I found them.
The interconnected narrative of these books reveals a complex story where a devastating storm becomes a canvas of beautiful descriptions, highlighting the resilience of characters facing tragic circumstances. During Travis's campaign rally, a dramatic moment unfolds when Lavinina encourages her granddaughter to publicly denounce Travis as worthless, claiming she had paid Sam to do so. However, when Sam refuses to comply, Lavinina's anger escalates to the point of allegedly enlisting a local "witch" to cast a curse on either the Inn, Georgia, or Travis. Just as the Inn nears completion, inexplicable events begin to transpire, adding an element of supernatural tension to the already charged narrative.
Gulf Coast Sunsets (Blackbird Beach Series Book 4)
Gulf Coast Sunsets (Blackbird Beach Series Book 4) ~ I absolutely loved this one — the sunsets, the heartache, the healing… it all felt so real. Georgia continues to face life head-on, and this book captures that mix of bittersweet memories and newfound hope so beautifully. Maggie Miller’s writing just flows, and the emotions in this book really stay with you. It’s the kind of story that makes you appreciate how endings can also be beginnings. I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.
This story just keeps on getting better! All the characters are really starting to grow on me. And as each character gets introduced the story is more interesting and intriguing. The mama and her two new born kittens spiced up the story for the adults and children in this book. I can’t wait to see what happens next and you will be as eager as I am as you get yourself more involved in the story line. Let’s get ready to ready the next book. The title is about one of the cottages.
Just finished book 4 Gulf Coast Sunsets. A other amazing book. I loved how Georgia opened up her inn to friends during the hurricane and they all became so close. Travis finally has made contact with his daughter and grandson, and Samantha now knows the truth about her mother and grandmother. This book really shows strong friendships and family ties. Will Travis win the councilman seat? Will the inn open without any problems? Will things work out for Georgia and her family and Travis and his family? It is onto book 5 to find out more answers. Absolutely LOVED this book.
I wonder if this author has ever ridden out a hurricane because she had her characters driving around town during what she described as a major storm. As someone who lives on the coastal plains of the Gulf and has ridden out hurricanes, you either shelter in place or evacuate. You certainly don't drive around going from one place to another during the height of the storm!
It felt like the book stoped abruptly. I know it’s a series…It just didn’t feel like a proper place to stop. Each of these books are waves of emotions, twists and turns of fate, and I was surprised over and over. This was on the verge of being too much. Narration again was great. I only noticed 1 mistake. It was barely noticeable. (We are all human.) Can’t wait to get started on the next one!
Weathering a huge hurricane, rescuing Travis's daughter and grandson, helping the older church ladies and taking on the town bully Laveena, while continuing to prepare the Sea Glass Inn for re-opening. Lilly gets good news concerning her health, baby kittens are born, and a large purple dinosaur from a couple towns away wash up on the beach. And soon Georgia's divorce will be final so she can begin dating Travis.
Well these are quick reads…listens? on Audible. I finished this one in a day. Really can’t believe I’m still reading this series but I must admit I got sucked in not only by the characters stories themselves, but by everyone’s [unrealistic] goodness. Not my usual murder and mayhem fare and a nice change of pace. Definitely a short and fluffy beach read. They’re also included on Audible, and free is a wonderful thing, saving my credits for more serious reading.
I have read all the prior Gilukf Coast books. I am enjoying the less rushed pace of a standard novel. I feel like I am getting more because there is not a rush to finish the full story line, each book has a natural end but it is just a transition like other stories. Now we look forward to many different story lines. I cannot wait to read the next book. Keep writing!
And the fun continues with this wonderful group of real, warm characters. A sweet, clean tale with a bit of everyday life drama, loving, supporting friends and family. So glad I waited for a bunch to written, the cliff hangers would've been awful if waiting for the next book!
