How can you use adversity in your life to propel you to success? It’s impossible to make it through life unscathed from trauma or adversity. Not facing these experiences directly often creates dysfunctional coping mechanisms which can lead to burnout or roadblocks for even the most successful people.
Filled with stories of modern women who made changes to live more in sync with their purpose and passions, The Resiliency Effect will teach you
Drawing on the fields of life coaching, financial planning and psychology, Cady’s book offers a way to develop excitement and energy around your purpose. The Resiliency Effect includes actionable advice and exercises, as well as chapters dedicated to realizing common dreams such as how to change careers, take a sabbatical, or start a business.
Cady North always knew she wanted to help others find financial resilience. After spending more than a decade in corporate roles, in 2015 Cady took the leap into entrepreneurship to found North Financial Advisors. There she helps women from all over the country act on their biggest dreams and build resilience for the future.
As an investment advisor, public speaker and author, her work has been featured in Bustle, Business Insider, The Washington Post, and Forbes. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Registered Life Planner®, has an MBA from Georgetown University and BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
A powerful read reminding you that you can't achieve your dreams with your hands in your pockets. You have to make the effort to transform your life if you want to see change occur.
I rarely write reviews, but this book really resonated with me as Cady has so much insight about human behavior and the concrete steps we can take to improve our wellbeing.
One example that comes to mind is that I always hated the phrase, “pick your brain,” but I couldn’t put my finger on why. Cady helped me understand that when people ask that, they tend to want to take shortcuts and gain another’s hard earned wisdom. People are much more likely to share their knowledge of the seeker is coming to the conversation with genuine curiosity after doing his/her homework!
I read this book during a time of transition with work. I was so burned out from work and decided to make a change. This book really validated my feelings and made me feel confident in my decision. I listed to the audiobook but I plan to buy a hard copy so I can easily refer to the questions at the end of each chapter. I would highly recommend this to many other women.
Taking a sabbatical, changing careers, starting a business and retiring early are fantasies for everyone. But, only one person can turn your fantasy into reality and that is you. Starting from your childhood experiences and continuing to your present situation, Cady offers practices, techniques, reflections and inspiring stories that will help you take the hardest step of all - the first one on your journey. Well-written, well-researched and highly recommended!
This book hit home for me -- as someone with big dreams who often puts them aside and says "maybe one day," it really felt like Cady was speaking directly to me. This is the motivator we all need, but it goes beyond simply inspiring. It also dives in how to set yourself up for success and make sure everything in your life aligns. A must-read.
As a young adult woman just starting my own career, I found this book inspiring and so incredibly helpful. The lessons Cady outlines are not only relatable to me now, but will continue to be relatable to me as I progress in my career and in my life in general. Her writing struck me on a personal level... I would recommend this book to anyone!
This is a great book for overcoming challenges, and how to pursue your passion through resiliency. There are so many industries, professionals, and companies that employees experience hurdles, and this book really delves into how to push past those, realign with your purpose, and keep moving. A must read for anyone looking to re-connect and find their purpose!
Cady marvelously draws readers in, bringing to light the adversities we have each overcome and can overcome in our futures. We have so much to learn about success, happiness and adversity, and this book does an outstanding job of making us lean into those stories which we tell ourselves, and creating new ones from our old paths.
Once I started this book I simply could not set it down. Cady is raw and authentic when she shares her story. The way she explores trauma and how it affects both our personal and professional lives is eye-opening. As an ambitious college student and young professional, I was able to gain a lot of insight from this book. I recommend anyone no matter where you are in your career to check it out!
I expected this book to be more focused on the financial aspects when it comes to achieving your dreams. Instead, the book mainly focuses on healing from your trauma (which isn't bad, just unexpected). I thought the questions at the end of each chapter was cool, and helped retain the ideas presented in the book.
This book is the spark of positivity and light that we need in the world right now! The motivational component of the book is highlighted by North's ability to explain complex ideas in a graspable way while she ensills hope and optimism in her audience with this work.
The Resiliency Effect is perfect for anyone who needs the perfect dose of motivation and inspiration. Cady does an excellent job that anything is possible if you just reach high enough and utilize the challenges you face as advantages along your journey to success.
