I finally came face to face with the serial killer who's been stalking me...and it didn't end well.

I'm Paige Harper and I'm now afraid to leave my own house. But a girl can only hide from reality for so long. So when my ex-husband needs my help finalizing our divorce so he can get remarried—it just feels like another bump in the pot-hole road that is my life. There’s a minor wrinkle, though. We gotta go to Fairieland and petition Oberon—the King of the Fae himself—to make our split official. As usual, Jax has everything figured out—for himself. Nico will come along as my fake boyfriend to convince the Faerieland King that I've moved on.

Sounds like hell.

But when my former boyfriend suddenly becomes an online sensation and my connection to the serial killer goes public—jetting off to Faerieland with my ex-husband and the werewolf fake boyfriend (I might have real feelings for) sounds like a vacation. What could possible go wrong?

We just gotta remember the Faerieland rules: Don't eat anything. Don't make any bargains. And just like everywhere else—sometimes it's kill or be killed.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

After the cliffhanger of the last book, I was very excited to see how it would go on. And even I was disappointed at the beginning about the quick pace, I had little time to think about it. Again, Paige is thrown into a turbulent adventure that brings her to the land of the Fae, together with Jax and Nico.
And I had a lot of fun with the three. The dynamic of the trio was really entertaining and showed a lot of new sides of them that made them grow dear to my heart. However, since it is the fifth book in the series, I find it difficult to write more without spoiling it.
I can say so much:
I really enjoyed the back and forth of the characters, the development of the characters and the conclusion of the book keep me waiting impatiently for the next part. Very good continuation of the series.

If you have randomly picked up The Remains of the Fae without having read the previous book in the Down & Dirty Supernatural Cleaning Services Series, you need to put it down. I jumped into this series with the last book and had no problem joining in. However, I don’t feel it will work here. Too much of what is going on ties with the previous book and without knowing a bit more of what has taken place, you will just be lost. With that said…

ACK! The Remains of the Fae is simply ACK! Or should I say WHOA! Paige finally comes face to face with VSK and who it is blew my mind. Paige was also blown away because now she’s afraid of leaving her house and can’t say as I blame her. Of course, I don’t know if I would have locked myself away completely. Good thing her ex-husband needs her help finalizing their divorce so Jax can get remarried. Now they have to travel to Faerieland to petition the King of the Fae. To make it even more convincing, Nico will come along and pose as Paige’s fake boyfriend. So long as they all abide by the Faerieland rules, it should be easy peasy. What could possibly go wrong? Famous. Last. Words.

Beginning of the book deals with Paige discovering the identity of the Vampire Serial Killer and the reason why. Wow…just wow. VSK - Kudos to you if you had even an inkling of an idea on who it was because I did not see that coming. That was a fairly, powerful beginning which did not start the story off in a light and fluffy way. The end results of it has such feels that, in a way, while it was perfect for the book it had me sad thinking I was going to miss out on all the LOL moments I’ve come to expect. Never fear, a trip to Faerieland is all it’s going to take. Or more like Paige’s reaction to stepping into Faerieland. Gigglesnorts! I’m telling you she is a trouble magnet and trouble is doubly potent on this little jaunt she takes with Jax and Nico. Just when I didn’t think thinks could get any worse (Read: Funnier) the author kicks it up a notch. The ending is just hit after hit and finally, when you think Paige is going to get a moment’s peace, a bombshell cliffy gets dropped. Like I said…ACK!

Can’t WAIT to find out what happens next.

The Remains of the Fae (Down & Dirty Supernatural Cleaning Services #5) by Kate Karyus Quinn, Demitria Lunetta, and Marley Lynn
Publisher: Little Fish Publishing
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Supernatural Comedy, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Mystery, and Novels
Release date: May 11, 2021

The Remains of the Fae is the fifth book in the Down & Dirty Supernatural Cleaning Services by Kate Karyus Quinn, Demitria Lunetta, and Marley Lynn. This can be read as a standalone book, but the rest of the series is so good that I recommend reading ALL the books!

I am so hooked on this series! I love the storyline and how funny these books are! There is so much sarcasm and quick wit! I almost spit out my drink a couple of times! This book is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat! (Yes, I read this in 3 hours!)

Paige is definitely one of my favorite characters of all time. She gives all of herself, puts herself in harms way for the people/supes that she cares for, and doesn't expect anything back in return. I would totally be her friend in real life. I'm totally rooting for Nico!!!

I really enjoyed this book! I definitely recommend this book and series! If you love sarcasm, supernatural mysteries, sexy werewolves, some dirty goodness, and a strong heroine, this book is for you! I can't wait for the next book in the series! I need to know what happens next!!!!

"Safety is an illusion."

After visiting a customer who was recognizing death in the mirror, I just had to have some relief. And boy, did this story deliver. First, Paige is kidnapped by VSK, and her worst nightmares are visited: she is locked in a barbie doll basement with a new brother---what is a workaholic to do? Watching her save herself through ingenuity, plus getting rescued? Fabulous! Then came the fart jokes. Normally I would turn my nose up at such childish jokes, but dang, these were funny. I let my husband turn his nose up instead.

The dog rescue will warm everyone's hearts. And the divorce playacting? I lost all thoughts of death and depression. I lost a little sleep over it but only because I wanted to review all the funny scenes. 😝

But let's get back to safety. With all the fear-mongering last year, this story subtly reminds us that we cannot live in a bubble. Living in a bubble may be safe, but it is no life. I am a big fan of kinetic learning; you won't learn how to cartwheel without falling. You won't learn how to drive without auto accidents. Deal with it.

And when you see or hear fantastical reports on social media that the enemy (whether Democrats, Asians, Blacks, Trumpists, whatever) are tearing down reality and building walls to keep them out, remember: locked doors don't keep out spiders. Stay tuned in, and laugh along the way. Laughter is good medicine.

Ok, so these books are fun, easy reads, I just had hoped that they would morph into something more. The main storyline is fun, and has a lot of potential. The individual story lines are a little cheesy, but ok. My issue is that there is no growth. Nothing changes except the new mess Paige is in and the denial she has about just about everything. Even the sexual tension and rapport she has with Nico is wearing thin. I LOVE a good smolder, even a long drawn out one, but at this point, it's just painful to watch Paige find ways to not face it. I think I'm going to have to give the series up.

Final note, these books aren't bad, they just don't have what I'm looking for. I think that anyone liking fun, playful books that have interesting twists and turns, will enjoy these. Just don't be surprised that you have to read a lot of them to get any substance.

This charming book is the fifth in a series of (currently) six books. I recommend that you start with book one and read the series in order. Why? Because characters grow (or decline) and change from book to book and our heroine, the plucky Paige Harper, keeps finding herself in more complicated and complex situations.

Here she finds that she cannot do a good deed without creating more problems for herself. After confronting and dealing with the serial killer who has been stalking her, she is immediately thrown into a trip to Faerie to arrange a divorce from her ex, who she is legally divorced from in civil court here in the USA. However Jax, her ex, is Fae, not human, so he must be divorced by order of the King of the Fae, somewhat analogous to requiring a church divorce or annulment in addition to a civil divorce in order to marry again. She takes her werewolf boyfriend, Nico, along and matters grow increasingly tangled as Paige has to go on a quest for the King and each member of their party finds themselves in different kinds of trouble.

I love this character. Paige is sassy, smart, and she talks to herself - a lot! This was one of those books when I started reading faster and faster because the main character is in trouble and must be thinking faster and faster. Paige deals with a lot of messes - most she has made herself. Her coping mechanism is to "push it down, then let it out in a healthy way!" Yah, right! And, in this book, poor Paige is kidnapped by a crazy cop who moonlights as a vicious killer. Her former lover hates her because she turned him into a vampire just so he wouldn't die. Her dalmanther is running amok around the country with a herd of dalmanthers, and they are causing chaos wherever they go. Her ex-husband, who is Fae...oh, wait, she finds out that her ex is not an ex in Faerieland. This girl just can't seem to do anything right much less get a break. I enjoyed this book and all the characters, the settings, and wondering if Paige and Nico will ever get together. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Having ended in a cliffhanger in the previous book, I was happy to find out how Paige regains her freedom. It was interesting to delve into the PTSD and the feelings she wrestles with post kidnapping.

Her ex-husband, Jax, a Fae, plans to remarry. Paige and he had a finalized divorce, but the marriage is still recognized in Fairieland. Thus, he finally gets her out of the house after her self-banishment from the world to grant him a divorce.

Feelings of inhibitions are not present in Fairieland. Thus, the feelings are amplified between Paige and Nico, the werewolf. King, Oberon, suffered the murder of his mistress, Pandora. After he learns of the team's crime-solving prowess, he strikes a deal. In this land deals are binding. Only after the murderer is determined AND prosecuted will the King grant the divorce.

Complications ensue when the three determine the murderer. Will Nico and Paige's relationship survive? Again, await another cliffhanger.

Fairieland is described in great detail. It was a fun read, and I look forward to the next in the series.

Serial killers, soon-to-be ex-husbands, and fairy kings. This is not a combination for happily even after.

This is book five of the series, but it works just fine as a standalone. All the essential bits are covered early on.

This a paranormal romance with a strong sense of humor. Frankly, the entire situation is ridiculous and that just makes it too fun to resist. The writing is excellent and the setting is well detailed with lots of unusual elements to it that add to the entire bizarre nature of the story. The characters are also well developed with unique and interesting personalities. I really love the tangled mess our heroine is in and how she navigates through it. Overall, another great story and I definitely look forward to more.

Highly recommended.

Paige is faced with the VSK, and then later jets off to Fairyland with her Ex-husband to get their marriage annulled. But nothing is ever so simple with faes. Throw in Nico and some Truth potion, and you get a wild ride.
This was certainly not my favorite of the series. Paige seemed even more inclined towards knee-jerk reactions and then was surprised when no one liked the results. Also, the plot was all over the place. The VSK was hyped up so much over the previous 4 books that this conclusion seemed a bit of a let down. It was almost like two novellas were smooshed into one book. And, Paige and Nico's "romance" has officially entered a "Glacial-pace burn", its not even slow since nothing has changed and we are at book 5 now. I hope the next book will be better, or I might abandon the series.

I really like this series and although they are stand alone reads, it makes it easier if you read them in order. It’s nice to have the background to the characters dynamics, like who Jax is and why did Paige marry him; who or what is VSK; why haven’t Nico and Paige got together; how did Paiges’ Dalmanther get its name and where can I get one!

I found the first 40% of this book a bit frustrating as it felt rushed, I think more could have been made of the relationship between Paige and Zach, and the conclusion of this part was over too quickly. However, when Paige is on her way back to normality or Faeland it perked up really well, leaving us with the taster of the next instalment.

Following having been kidnapped by the Vampire Serial Killer Paige manages to escape only to be pressured into going to Fairieland with her ex - husband Jax to finalise their divorce there. Things don't go so well and they, with the help of the one - eyed Werewolf PI Nico, have to investigate a murder.

I am enjoying each book in this series more and more, there is a blend of humour, whodunit and a touch of romance adding up to a thoroughly enjoyable read. As normal the story ends with a cliffhanger, however this just makes me anticipate the next book even more. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a Paranormal romance with a touch of humour.

I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Paige's fae ex-husband has grown up a bit and is getting remarried. And surprisingly, wants to do right by this wife. Which means actually getting a divorce from Paige. Turns out they are still married by Fae law and he just never told her. No big deal, just a quick trip to Faerie and ask Oberon to be divorced. Sounds easy right? Nothing ever is with the fae. Add a world that makes you high as a kite, everything will kill you, avoid fae bargains, except for the one Oberon puts on you to get his favor to be divorced. And don't forget the little trickier with word play that the fae love to use to actually get away with everything. Add in an undead kinda brother-in-law and whats to worse that could happen

Paige has had a rough time dealing with the memories of what happened with her kidnapping and has become basically homebound. Nothing affects her, until she hears that the dalmanther pack her dog is running with is in danger. Now all bets are off and Paige’s life is quickly back to crazy. She, Nico, and Jax go into Fairieland to get an annulment from King Oberon. As always nothing goes as planned and all three must pool their resources and use their ingenuity to survive. A few huge secrets come to light, but in the end Jax manages to get remarried. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

Starts off with where the last ended, and it never lets up. Paige has to get away from VSK and the underground bunker she's being held in, she then suffers from PTSD from the aftermath of that ordeal. It is literally one adventure after another and Jax with Nico are her supporting characters to the end. This keeps getting better and better. The characters are building with each story and the overall story arc is getting more dimensional. Thanks to the author and BookSirens for an advanced reader copy for an honest opinion.

OMG, I love this book! I love this whole series! I am always blown away by the direction these stories take; I can never see it coming! Who expected the true identity of VSK! This book is not just clever, it is hilarious and quirky with just the right amount of intrigue. I so enjoyed Jax's antics, and his innocent child like character. I love ALL of Nico's and Paige's intense, sexy interactions. I'm already excited to get my hands on the next book. The Remains of The Fae took us on a fun adventure through Fairyland. It was so much fun to see this part of Paige’s supernatural world! I really enjoyed getting to see more of Jax. Paige and Nico’s relationship keeps growing and getting more intertwined. I was worried that our trio wouldn’t be able to figure out how to get around Oberon’s wording of the bargain they struck. The clues about O.H.I.O in this story have me curious about what they are really up to. We also get a few more clues about the Ghosting. I can’t wait for the sixth book. I need more Paige and Nico in my life!

This book made me laugh out loud so hard!

The book is divided into two sections, one dealing with the direct cliffhanger from book one and then we have a timejump of 6 months. But the timejump wasn't as jarring as it could've been and we do get an explanation what has happened during that time. Poor Paige, I wanted to hug her so hard.

Fairyland was a hoot. It's definitely outrageous in the best way possible and Paige, Jax and Niko working the case there was so much fun. There were big revelations (omg, the murder!) and some great developments in the overall plot of the book.

This book was a wild ride. There were some real surprises including the identity of VSK. Paige also manages to get herself into plenty of trouble, both in the normal world and in Faerieland.
Plenty of the book involves Jax, her ex husband, who is always good for a laugh. Throw in some steamy Nico moments and you have a book you will not want to put down. I am eager to see what happens next.

Picking up right after the previous book, Paige is in dire straits. She came off the high of her first case working with Nico only to be whisked away by a kidnapper. However, this book isn't about the kidnapper or how Paige fares under the kidnapper. It focuses on her time in Fairielands and the tricky fae.

Really a 3.5.

Not as strong as the other books in the series. The author seemed to have trouble staying on task and hopped around from one subject to another like a bunny on speed. But overall this is a very satisfying series and I will move on to the next one, if only to see Paige and Nico finally give in to their mutual attraction.

Kate Quinn and the gang has done it again! This installment in the series is just as great as the 1st.
It was so funny, fast paced, back and forth and had more great character development.
Plus, the ending makes you want to read the next book immediately, which is what a great book should do.
I highly recommend!!!!!!!

This series is very silly and over the top but so much fun. When Paige has to go to Fairieland to divorce her ex everything gets a little crazy. Don't make deals in Fairieland because they have to be followed to the letter and sometimes that gets very complicated!
