The Barrali family has seen its share of scandals. But what of those who work for the famous royals? This collection of three romantic holiday tales takes you to the Barrali winery, an elegant royal yacht, and through the palace’s secret garden to experience the passions of those who serve.
A Special Time of Year

Christmas on the Royal Yacht – When April Dietrich left New York to renovate Sarcaccia’s royal palace, she also left her lover. But when Rock Fournier is hired as head chef on the royal yacht, will it cook up trouble for both their careers?
Christmas With a Palace Thief – Palace security chief Umberto Niro defends the royal family from all threats, internal and external. When he finds his ex-girlfriend, a confessed thief, in the queen’s closet, can he choose between duty and passion?
Nicole Burnham is the RITA award-winning author of over twenty novels, including the popular Royal Scandals series. For new release announcements, audio/ebook samples, and to receive a free copy of A ROYAL SCANDALS WEDDING, visit https://nicoleburnham.com/new-events/ --- NOTE FROM NICOLE: My Goodreads library is by no means comprehensive. I have thousands of books on my real (as opposed to my Goodreads) bookshelves. However, my Goodreads library only contains those books I'd give four or five stars and would recommend to friends without hesitation (and I haven't gotten around to listing all those yet.)
Get ready to escape to the royal winery, royal yacht, and through the palace’s secret garden with three couples who serve the royals. I loved this collection because it featured those who serve the royals. The romance is superb and I loved the exotic locations. If you're looking for a modern romance with a royal flair, pick up A Royal Scandals Christmas. Highly recommend!
Nicole Burnham is one of my favorite Authors. Any book that she writes I read and am never disappointed. During quarantine time, I've decided to reread several of her books in the Royal Scandals series. The first was the Royal Scandals Christmas. Since reading this book several years ago, I have read all the books in the series. This helped connected the personalities and events in this book, making the second read more interesting and fun. Enjoyed this book more the second time. Love all the books.
For some reason I don't read read many Royal Romances, even though I do enjoy real Royal Weddings, Babies, and the historical aspect of royalty. I selected this Trio as it was a Free book deal, and thought it might be fun for a change. Well, I am to report it was fun, and I enjoyed reading these three Holiday Semi-Royal Novellas-- Semi, as the main characters were the staff of the Royal Family, not members of Royalty. Over-all 3.75 Stars.
Three love stories involving employees of the royal Barrali: the sister of the head of Familia Barrali's winery dining operations; the royal yacht's chef, a palace carpenter; and the former head of Princess Sophia's security and the overall head of palace security are in this book. Each tale is about rekindling an old romance that never really died though the parties were no longer together.
Fun trio of novellas about the royal Barrali family's employees. All three stories have employees who left behind relationships to give their loyalty to the family and at Christmas time are reunited and given a 2nd chance. Not squeaky clean, but fun stories to supplement the main series about the family.
This is just not my cup of tea. It's a little bit too cliche. Positive: good transition, writing and characters. Unrealistic plot. I got it because it was before Christmas and I wanted to read something according to the holidays and that felt really good. It felt like my fantasy world and the reality were synced.
Three wonderful novellas each a complete love story about three different couples who are employees of the palace. Each couple with their own backgrounds and difficulties but each who love each other unconditionally.
These three short novellas tie in each of some of the beloved staff of the Barelli family series while still adding to each story of the family. Well written for novellas, fulfilling and fun.
Three wonderful Christmas Happily Ever After stories in the Mediterranean kingdom of Sarcaccia. All indirectly involve members of the Royal Family, but are centered around the royal staff and their families. Highly entertaining
This book contains three mildly romantic tales featuring friends and employees associated with the royal family of Cateri. The characters are relatable. The narrator did an excellent job portraying each. I was not distracted with the dialog.
Still a very good series. I have read most of the books. Quality stay high. Some I like more some less. Good to read about some of the support people. Thanks for the good read.
Sorry to admit -I found the "Royal Scandals" title misleading . No Royals as main characters - stories about staff working for Royals doesn't feed the fantasy of romance with a Prince. These novellas are well written. Just not as expected.
When the bride handed her friend a glass of the Italian winery's award winning Cabernet, I started to get worried. Couldn't the author google an Italian grape for heaven's sake?
DNF'd early on. It was too cliched, too slick and superficial.
This book is a collection of three holiday short stories. It is all based around a Royal family, and they are all super cute, sweet, easy Christmas reads.
I read about 1/3 of this book. Many times I tried to go back to it but kind of felt it was a bit lame. So this now is marked as complete but I did not finish it.
A Royal Scandals Christmas is a collection of three novellas involving some of the people who work for the Barrali family. It is a glimpse at the lives of some of the people who are employed by the Barrali family. All three of these novellas are close to being second chance at love stories. All three are well written. The stories mesh well together, while not necessarily being written about the same Christmas.
Christmas with a Prince. Holly Elliott is at the Barrali family winery to celebrate her brother’s wedding. She is anticipating a wonderful celebration with her brother and his fiancé. What she is not anticipating is her brother’s best friend (and her secret love) being able to get out of a commitment and being at the nuptials.
Christmas on the Royal Yacht. April Dietrich left New York to take a job with the royal family. In doing so, she left behind her lover Rock Fournier. Five years have passed since she left and Rock is now working as a Chef on the royal yacht. Can the holiday season soften both their hearts and mend old hurts?
Christmas with a Palace Thief. Umberto Niro, head of palace security, catches his former lover (and disgraced security agent) in the queen’s closet. Can he set aside years of mistrust to find the truth behind her actions today and in the past or will he be destined to live alone.
While all three novellas were well written, Christmas with a Palace Thief was my favorite. All three novellas were quick reads and would definitely put a person in the holiday spirit. I enjoy reading Nichole Burnham’s books. The characters and plot have a nice pace and don’t seem rushed or stilted.
These were 3 very good novellas set in a fictional European country. I loved the heroes in each of these stories. Very sweet, smart, and committed. I would really like to read the rest of the series at some point. The only sticking point for me is that they are not on KU. I am very selective with the books I buy outside of that membership so I may need to wait for a deal to read the rest.
