Working in mental health, I'm always looking for self-help books that are accessible for clients. This is by far, one of the best guides to taking responsibility for your own life with plenty of tips and exercises to focus the mind on helpful ways of thinking, feeling and behaving to get yourself back in the driving seat of your own life.
Written in a friendly and down to earth way, I have no doubt it will help many, many people, myself included.
With enough theory on how our brains work, without ever getting bogged down with jargon or too much science, I really enjoyed the writing style and it certainly gave me a deeper insight into the ways our brains keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour and defeatist thoughts. They are only trying to keep us safe after all. But we have the power to soothe our anxious brains one step at a time. Which can lead to feeling better, and living better.
I can't recommend this enough to anyone feeling stuck, anxious, stressed and defeated. It will change your life if you follow the advice.
