Psychic Visions #19

Snap, Crackle...

Rate this book
The haunting refrain torments Bethany, almost as much as the horrors of what she’s forgotten. Chased, terrified, and injured, she races away from a gunman into the woods, determined to once again escape those after her.

Hunter’s first meeting with Bethany reveals an injured, exhausted, and possibly dangerous psychic. Plus she uncooperative, barely civil, keeping everyone at arm’s length. Only she needs help, … and he is the one available. Time for the hunted to turn hunter, and that is his domain. Especially if he gets to champion the underdog, which, in this case, is a prickly and way-to beautiful woman, who he doesn’t want to let out of his sight.

Not only is she being tracked but they want her back as a captive. A captive to do their bidding. And they’ve enlisted another of their group, her ex-best friend Lizzy, to hunt down Bethany.

They want, no need, her to remember who she really is …

With Hunter at her side, Bethany fights for survival, racing toward an explosive reveal that leaves them all gasping, as their world turns upside down.

I picked this up from the library because I heard the series was very good. I was intrigued by the concept because I love psychic stories. But I didn't find it that thrilling. It was interesting and enjoyable. Average. I have a couple of this author's books so I will definitely try more books. I did enjoy this book and maybe this is her "bad" book! Lol!

Bethany arrives late at night ... battered, bruised, injured by a bullet, terrified, and hoping to find the one man who can help her. She's not quite sure who she is anymore, but she knows enough to be afraid.

Hunter’s first meeting with Bethany reveals an injured, exhausted, and possibly dangerous psychic. Not only is she being tracked by her former captors, they don't want her dead .. they want her back and they've sent her best friend, Lizzy, to hunt track her down.

BOOK BLURB: With Hunter at her side, Bethany fights for survival, racing toward an explosive reveal that leaves them all gasping, as their world turns upside down.

This is 19th in this series. As I have not read any of the previous books, I don't have anything to compare SNAP, CRACKLE with. There's lots of action, with a few twists and turns along the way. The problem I had was with the character of Beth. She seemed oddly one-layered as she repeated and repeated mostly the same things over and over. Frankly, it made my skin itch. I liked Hunter as the hunter of those that hunted innocent victims. The story line was a good one, but the characters didn't support it.

She did it again

I absolutely love this series. This one features Beth and Hunter.

Beth has been captive for most of her life beginning at age four. She was able to escape, but being on the run these last 5 years have made her memory iffy and she doesn't recall many important aspects about ehat happened to her.

We've been introduced to Hunter in past books where he is a skilled hunter and can track energy. He helps Beth and tries to keep her safe until they can figure out how to stop the people chasing her. The end was a plot twist i didn't see coming.

I was excited that Stefan showed up at the beginning of the book. I love his character and his reliability in helping all the gifted people that go yo him for help.

This is one of my favorite series. You should definitely start at book one though to know the characters journeys.

I think this is my fave series from this author, I always get so excited when one is released.
I actually suspected the twist coming but I didn't know how it was going to play out, so it was great how Ms Mayer pulled all these pieces together.
Beth had a traumatic life, locked away for experiments on her psychic powers, escaping to spend years running until she needed help or die.
I was fascinated with her journey with Hunter, didn't like each other and yet a connection was forming.
This story was like a jigsaw puzzle, just as pieces were forming the cat knocked more off the table, so you'll be left thinking what is going on.
I loved it, the story got better and better until I just couldn't put it down.

Sorry to say I was more enthused with waiting for this book to come out
As for reading it was a disappointment.a repeating after repeat and really saying nothing. There was no depth to the characters or substances to the plot.. Her earlier books were so much better.

Wow! This one will keep you guessing. Beth shows up in trouble at Stefan's. Hunter is there and immediately takes an interest. Beth is almost drained and her memory isn't working. They must work together to discover who is after her and what happened in the past. This plot is complex and Beth and her abilities are a mystery themselves. The search for the truth is full of suspense and action. There is a slow burn romance. When the truth is revealed it will drop your jaw. The epilogue sets up the next book and will leave you on the edge of your seat. This is my favorite Dale Mayer series and it's always fresh, each one a page-turner.

This was a good book, and I enjoyed it a lot, I just had a really hard time connecting with the heroine. I think it was because I really couldn’t understand what her “power” was. I think that the premise was great and it was extremely well written. I just couldn’t connect with it for some reason.

This was a weird one. I did not like Beth, found her very annoying. Alot of words in this book that didn't really say anything, just filled the pages.

Beth is constantly being hunted and on the run. She was shot and gets to Stefan and meets Hunter.

This story has trust issues, twists and turns to keep you guessing. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. Beth is searching for a way to end the noise in her head. Hunter keeps a calm and clear head to keep Beth safe. I love Hunter and Beth's story and any time Stefan is in a story, I am a happy reader!
A great story!

Just when I believe your writing ...

Cannot become more amazing, you blow me away!
Simply put, WOW!!!!!!!!
Truly, Ms. Mayer your ability to keep me enthralled with your Psychic Visions novels, this being number 19, since your first release is a complete joy, as well as, well, (ptp) amazement!
This novel kept me going from the moment I started to ,"What If", (already ordered, those epilogues of yours, Dangerous). It simply could not be out down!
Beth was certainly a multidimensional character, off the scale, one might say!
Yeah! Hunter's story, (having met him before). Hunter was absolutely perfect for her, level, the ability to see beyond he fragments, and attitude, to the woman he knew she was, would be.
I particularly loved this novel, no not saying favorite-there simply isn't one in the series, because you have clues, completely obscure, and interpolation was needed. You simply had to pay attention, after 18 previous novels, I pay attention. However, the clues led me, yet didn't tell me all, Stefan, was an amazing clue, with his reaction.
Hunter, well his goal to protect, ability to hunt, and be a grounding for Beth was so important. His stability and slight humor with Beth was so important, it helped her understand all Hunters were not bad, and while I believe he knew more than he let on, or saw more than you allowed us to see through him directly, his caring for Beth came through as the most important.
This novel was so different from all the others, the importance of the subject flows through out life, pushing continuously ...
And there is where I stop, this is best experienced by reading. This book can certainly be read alone, however, if possible I recommend you start from the first novel and work your way through. It means so much more.
There are many superlatives I can use, hmmm have I already used them all previously?
But Ms. Mayer's Psychic Visions novels are best experienced than someone's review.
My best review, since the first book years ago, I have pre ordered the next in the series knowing I would wait as long as a year, then it was in my library, and that day all else stops!

Sooooooo ...
NEXT ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Good!

A fantastic mind-bender! I love these stories of psychic abilities. What makes this one so much better is the addition of the Maine coon cat, Nocturne!

Beth’s life is intense to say the least. She is constantly being hunted and therefore, on the run, and always looking over her shoulder. Now, she has been shot! She finds her way to Stefan where she meets Hunter. Oh, boy!

A deep and engrossing story of auras, energy and emotions. There are also trust issues, twists and turns to keep you guessing and a multitude of clues to make you wonder if it can truly happen that way and then it does. You are kept on the edge of your seat while Beth frantically searches for a way to end the constant noise in her head and to stay one step away from those hunting her. I can’t help but wonder how she is managing to survive if her mind is the path of her discovery and how can she even sleep? How can she tell where “they” are? Isn’t this delicious? I love this puzzle. It takes a certain kind of crazy (meant in the most loving way) to plot all of this out!

I have to give credit to Hunter who manages to keep a calm and clear head when it comes to keeping Beth safe and in a calm mind set when she wants to run. I enjoy the journey of both of them getting to know each other despite the drama and danger they are in. Beth’s need to learn how to give trust as well as learning how to take trust from Hunter to be there with her and for her as she works through finding the truth and regaining her memories.

An anti-climatic journey for Beth, one with a satisfying resolution and a happy ending with Beth and Hunter. A great story!

Hunter's first encounter with Bethany reveals an injured, exhausted and possibly dangerous psychic on the run from a gunman in the woods who is uncooperative, barely civil and keeps everyone at arm's length. However, she badly needs help and he is available to provide that help. As a hunter, it is time for him to turn things around for her so she is no longer hunted plus he can champion the underdog in the form of a very beautiful woman who he seems unwilling to let out of his sight. Not only is she being hunted, but they seem to want her back again as a captive to do their bidding, plus they enlisted another of their group to help with that hunt - her ex-best friend Lizzy. They want, no need, her to remember who she really is … With Hunter at her side, Bethany fights for survival, racing toward an explosive reveal that leaves them all gasping, as their world turns upside down.

OMG - I have so missed this series and this dramatic book showed me exactly why. It was all about evilness, experimentation, physic skills, compassion, friendship and love. I loved the way that Hunter stuck to Bethany and helped and supported her through everything as they also slowly started in small stages to trust each other. I loved the way the story developed and the twists and turns as they navigated the situation as it were at that time. As for the series of twists at the end - I certainly did not see some of those coming up! Well written and easy to read, feel and understand.

On the run wounded and drained of energy Beth Metlomar with her trusty Maine coon cat Nocturne stumble to Stefan's door. Her arrival was preceded by an unusual event that puzzles both Stefan and his guest Hunter Brill.

Stefan doesn't recognize her at first, her energy is not one he knows, but when she awakens she is able to show him something he won't forget. She's the one he went back for and couldn't find. She wasn't there at least he thought she wasn't.

Beth is resistant to help but knows she needs to heal and recharge, she's also very afraid of Hunter since he is indeed a hunter of psychics. Her energy is very different thanks to the myriad of experiments over the years. She finally managed to escape and was trying to start a relatively normal life when they found her.

Hunter hadn't known why he needed to be at Stefan's be now he's sure it's because of Beth. He knows he has to help her, protect her.

As soon as Beth wakes she knows she has to leave her being there endangers Stefan and Celina. She tries to get away without anyone following but Hunter is good at what he does and he finds her. It takes a lot but he does convince her he has a safe place for her to rest and heal.

Of course there's a lot more going on than just what we see on the surface.

I couldn't put this book down as we learn more about Beth's fears. Especially those concerning her ex best-friend Lizzy.

The relationship between Hunter and Beth is a very interesting one and things do heat up a bit, but everything needs to resolve first.

The first chapter of this book sets the eerie atmospheric scene for this, full of mystery, story.
Bethany Metloma had escaped but her energy was leaving her, she had been shot, she had to find Stefan, but she was having trouble connecting with his energy, she had to find Stefan but she had to be careful that her enemies couldn't lock on to her diminishing aura.
Stefan had power, Stefan had escaped from the hideous place where Beth had been kept prisoner.
Beth was tormented, she didn't want to put the lives of Stefan and Celina in danger but Stefan had left her behind, could their combined powers overcome the evil power following Beth, that power had immense energy and belonged to her ex best friend Lizzie, Lizzie had turned against Beth and was being controlled by Beth's captures, they wanted her back, they needed her skills.
Stefan found Beth collapsed on his doorstep and , along with his friend Hunter, they shielded Beth against the psychic forces that followed her and nursed her back to health.
The evil forces had to be stopped, could Hunter help Beth to escape their clutches, could his and Stefan's psychic powers save Beth.
Hunter could see past Beth's damaged shell to the clever, beautiful girl beneath, could love blossom for them ?
This is a story of psychic powers, good against evil but with unexpected twists.

Psychic Visions series is my fav series from Dale Mayer, so I've been waiting for this book like forever, so I was super excited.

The creepiness was awesome, torture, kidnapping, crazy experiment to many children that got me cringe, it's just so horrible imagining that it happened to an innocent child. I also get a glimpse of Stefan's past, which is good and really disturbing at the same time.
The suspense was good, it's like you're never save, always on the run, always expecting something bad will happen.
The twist, oh wow didn't see that one coming.
The paranormal things was less than what I was expected, since the previous books show amazing psychic power, so yeah I was expecting more.
The characters, well Beth is really frustrating I get and totally understand her but still, I want to slap some senses to her most of the time. As for Hunter, well I love this man so patient and sweet and protective. The sparks between Beth and Hunter kinda cute. So yeah love this couple.

Not my fav but still a page-turner and with that twist, this one definitely a must-read for paranormal suspense romance readers.

Beth was held for years before making her escape and living free for a while. But now, they've found her again and she's being hunted before making it to one place where she might be safe long enough to heal. When Hunter first meets Beth, she's severely injured, tired, and not at all trusting of anyone but she needs help and he's the one who can do that. The people after her want her back, a psychic to do their bidding, but Beth is determined to never be a prisoner again.

I absolutely love this series and this book is no exception. It's well-written with well-rounded characters and the suspense will keep you on your toes. The romance is sweet and slow-building as trust grows between the two. Dale Mayer writes a magnificent tale and the story drew me in from the beginning keeping me hooked throughout, not wanting to put the book down. I'm really looking forward to the next book and highly recommend this one as well as the series. While this book could be read as a stand-alone, I suggest reading the series in order to get the most benefit, enjoyment, and knowledge of some of the characters.

A journey for freedom is Beth's life, but she needs help as exhaustion has her energy splitting even more than it was. This woman has lived a life of torment and torture, forced and never free. This was a twisted plot, at times almost as contradictory as the characters minds and conversations, what were rral memories and truth in comparison to lies and falsehoods.it was exciting and deeply spiritual. I empathised with Beth throughout, felt her confusion, the push pull to try to remember or stay well away. I loved that Hunter saw beyond the broken, fractured woman, trusted and felt a connection enough to step up. With help from Stephan. Not all is what it appears to be or is it? This story will certainly keep your mind focussed and enthralled. I love trying to work the mysteries through and figure out the deeper meanings and workings of the mind in these stories, this one was definitely named right,.very much a Snap, Crackle and even a Pop or two. Wonderful. Started 29/6/21 Finished 30/6/21

"He doesn't want to kill me...

...but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to hurt me"

Beth is being hunted. Hunter is a hunter. But it's not Beth he is hunting, it is those hunting her. She has no idea who, if anyone, she can trust and my heart breaks for the life she has been forced to live. A life that Stefan could also have been forced to live...can she hold that against him? Should she? Wouldn't she have escaped with him if she could?
Beth needs help, she needs safety, but for that she has to trust someone, more than one someone, and ultimately she has to decide....
Is survival enough?
Or does she finally want to live?
Hunter really hopes she allows Stefan and himself to help, because, despite the fact that he cannot begin to understand Beth's abilities and the unknown terrifies him, he knows they belong together...
But first he must keep her alive, must locate and neutralise her hunter and they urgently need to find the missing Lizzie...
A terrifying, twisted and haunting case but for Hunter it is the most important case of his life.
I listened to this on Audible.

Hunter had the push to be at Stefan’s house for some reason, and he always followed his instincts. They watched as a weird storm approached. And then, someone was at the door. And that moment sent Hunter on quite an adventure, trying to protect a young woman who didn’t want his help.
Beth Metlomar was dying. She’d been shot, and her energy had her split in so many pieces, and Lizzy was close on her energy trail. She had to get to the one person who had escaped their captivity. Somehow she knew it was the only person that could help her.
Beth had been a captive who’d been tortured most of her young life. She’d escaped five years ago and had no plans of returning to that evil place. So much torture. So much death. And her trust level was at zero. Hunter was determined to help her, no matter how many times she tried to escape from him. And, as is so often the case, things were not as they seemed to be. Another page-turning book in this series.

When Bethany is on the run and at the end of her strength, she heads to Stefan, the one person from her past that could help her. Hunter is concerned when he sees the unusual energy pattern emitting around Stefan's home and figured that it is tied to Bethany. Still recovering, Bethany wants to leave and not draw danger to Stefan. Hunter wants to help Bethany and find out who is hunting her, but she doesn't want to depend or trust anyone. I don't want to spoil the book by describing it further. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. There are plenty of twists and turns in turns in this paranormal romantic suspense. Bethany is a strong woman, who has managed to survive for years while being on the run. I like how Hunter unravels the clues while trying to keep Bethany safe. This is a good read.

I have read this series from the beginning and I keep coming back for more.
Snap, Crackle... is the 19th book in this story and it is well worth the wait. Beth was sold to someone when she was four years old and tested again and again to ascertain her psychic abilities. She was kept year after year in a laboratory. She eventually began to fall apart and parts/pieces of her energy would break off and disappear.

I despised what Beth had gone through and cried a little for her plight. She eventually escaped but for five years she was hunted and shot. She remembered Stefan who had helped her when he was a test subject. Stefan took her in and tried to heal her.

Lots of tension which gradually increases throughout the book. Great read!

I will be honest I really didn't like Beth so much when I first met her, yes I felt terrible as we find out the types of things she went through but after seeking out Stefan to help her she bucks the help he and others try to give. Fortunately Stefan and Hunter aren't giving up on Beth especially as Stefan has a connection to her and their past and are willing to fight for her whether she wants it or not as she has never had anyone fight for her. I liked trying to work out why Beth was still being hunted, the riddles Hunter is told by the guy trying to get to Beth don't help and then when I think I have it worked out we find out what really happened when she escaped wow just wow. This was definitely a page turner and the teaser to the next book has you counting down to the next book!

Wow, it's like being on the merry go round and each time you go round you gather a bit of information, a little clarity. We start as Beth, questioning choices, shot and on the run, losing pieces of her self, trying to call them back. Lizzy keeps saying REMEMBER. We see Stephen, his wife, and Hunter. And we are off. Info is provided in tid bits and it's done well enough that you see the frustration and understand it for both Beth and Hunter. This series makes you think twice about energy and psychics and helps you understand the horror being done in the name of science. There are a few twists and the ending is....true Dale Mayer. Grab the book. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

A very small memory from childhood is a gamble that Beth needs to take when she us running for her life. A childhood has shown that no body can be trusted or relied on but Beth is at the end of her rope.
Hunter is visiting his friend Stefan and he gets a glimpse of his childhood and is horrified that they survived it.
A journey starts to see if Beth can put her past behind her and tobheal enough so she can have a future which is not in hiding or on the run. Hunter has seen many things he can not explain but finds himself at a loss at what he is facing now.
A nice pace story, a story of trust and first love if Beth can with Hunter's help.

Is she, isn't she? A very tangled web either she or someone else is weaving. Does she remember? Her ex-friend Lizzy seems to think she should remember. Danger, multiple questions and people chasing her They wanted to capture her and return her to place she has escaped. Everyone including me wanted answers. Kept me on my toes with the many possible scenarios. This is a difficult book to put down for many reasons including it's many interesting characters who are not always who they seem. I was kept guessing till the end. Well done!

Beth has been on the run and in hiding for five years. But now her energy is running out and she needs help so she turns to Stefan, someone she knew from a long time ago. Hunter happens to be visiting Stefan at the time and for some reason he is drawn to help Beth, if she will let him. There is a lot of suspense as the story progresses and Beth tries to find a way to reconcile her past so she live without constantly being in fear of her life. There's also a developing romance and trust between Beth and Hunter as they spend more time together.

A brilliant psychic suspense adventure!

This AUTHOR and this series have NEVER disappointed me.once....not in all nineteen books in the series. This gem will leave your adrenaline in high gear all throughout. There are so many twists and turns, secrets, reveals, adventure galore, and at the heart of it all is one fierce but truly broken woman. Can she piece herself back together and find the answers she's been looking for?. Can she finally learn to possibly trust another human? Dive in feet first and read this epic book! I can't wait to see what's next.

Dale Mayer is on my short list of favorite authors, and her Psychic Visions series is the best! I thought I knew what was happening with Beth, but as usual, the author had a genius, unusual twist. I liked Beth’s character. She’s struggling with remembering what happened to her, and Hunter is trying to help her. I liked how Hunter truly had her well-being in mind with his every word and action. And, as usual, Stefan was there to help out. This book had some exciting twists and turns. I highly recommend reading this book.
