A famous drummer with time and money to burn.
A young artist on the cusp of international stardom.
A danger lurking in the shadows.

Powerhouse rocker Zander Shaw is The Deviant’s last single man standing. With the band on hiatus, he’s been globe-trotting and spending his hard-earned money on women, extreme sports, and partying. Los Angeles is only supposed to be a pit stop—track drums for infamous metalcore outfit Bleeding Faith and move on. Until a beautiful, mysterious woman gives him a good reason to stick around.

Up-and-coming artist Drew Kadence made L.A. her home a few years ago. Almost no one knows she’s on the run from a violent past. But when handsome drummer Zander enters her life and rattles all her defenses, she can’t deny the fact that their chemistry is through the roof. Problem is, she’s not sure she’s ready to dive into a relationship. Especially since her divorce isn’t finalized yet.

The more Drew gets to know Zander, the more she’s attracted to him. But Zander’s simple gig unravels his old demons, and Drew’s demons are gaining on her. Now they both have to face their fears.

Will love give them the strength to do it together or will they each have to do it alone?

*Deliverance can be read as standalone, but for a more fulfilling experience and to better understand the world of The Deviant, it’s recommended to read Rapture first.

“Just because we’re so fucked up that we sometimes forget to fight for ourselves doesn’t mean we don’t want other people to keep fighting for us, Zander.”

Britt’s writing is stellar and improves with every book, which is hard to believe based on how fantastic her last effort was. The only thing I regret about Deliverance is that I didn’t wait to read it. I knew going in I had real-life things that would slow me down, but I started it anyway. Had that not been the case, I would have read straight through. The last couple of nights, last night especially, I devoured it.

What’s special about Britt’s brand of rock star romance is that it’s not about the fame, or the flashy celebrity life, or the girl next door who happens across her fantasy crush. Britt offers something different. Her books are raw and gritty and portray an honest, (seemingly) realistic take on the life of an LA rocker. One who may not be perfect but strives to be better. One who will do whatever it takes to get (and keep) the girl—a girl (heroine) who you can be sure is as deep and complicated and layered as he is.

Don’t think for a second I don’t love traditional rock star romances, because I do. It’s just that sometimes, I want something a little more intense. Something unconventional that might even border on uncomfortable. Something that makes me feel, and Britt always delivers.

Deliverance, Deviant Hearts book 2, begins some time after book 1, Rapture left off.  The Deviant's frontman, Justice Cross told his story there, but now it's sexy drummer Zander Shaw's turn to find his own happy ending no matter how rocky that journey might be. I was beyond excited to have a new book to read in this world!! Be sure to read Rapture if you get a chance, you won't be sorry.  Both books are worthy of any rockstar romance lovers undivided attention!!

With his band still on what seems like the worlds longest hiatus, Zander finally returns to LA ready to pick up where his life left off after a year away in a tropical paradise.  He's an adrenaline junkie, always chasing one thrill after another, but now he's been offered a recording gig, filling in with another band while their drummer is in rehab. The rush of making music will keep him busy, help keep his head in the game he loves most and out of his own troubled mind.

Zander's world is unexpectedly rocked hard when a friend of a friend, Drew Kadence, in all her edgy, vibrant and tempting glory, stops him dead in his tracks. He might never be the same again!  Drew is dedicated to making her art, keeping to herself and laying low.  There's no room for a famous drummer in her life. Her Bohemian beauty, unique style and quirky personality form the shield she uses to hide and protect herself from the outside world digging too deep and discovering her doubts, fears and scars.  She's hiding, scared and resigned to being alone for the rest of her life.  Passion for her art and a few trusted friends will have to be enough.

Zander is completely fascinated with this frustrating woman.  He knows there's more to her story and senses her pain because after all, he has his own to keep hidden. He's becoming a smitten man, but as hard as he tries to get close, Drew keeps her line in the sand drawn. The fear of letting anyone in is paralyzing every move she makes.

This slow burning, ready to explode romance has its ups, downs and sideways moments for Zander and Drew. The interesting characters surrounding them have their own exciting bits to add to all that makes Deliverance so hard to put down. Suspense, emotional intensity, darkness and light are all part of their smoldering, tumultuous story. This unlikely couple, opposites in so many ways, both have some damage in their pasts to overcome if they truly want to throw caution to the wind and just BE. Will the demons that haunt them lie down and let them have their happiness or come roaring back and try to take it away?

Each new book that N.N. Britt writes just highlights her ability to place the reader right in the middle of a world she knows so well, with all it's many facets. When I discovered and read her first book, Rapture, I was ecstatic that I'd found a talented new author that would be right up there with my favorites from that moment on and I was not wrong!!!  You know I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat to see what amazing stories N.N. Britt conjures up next!

An early copy of this book was provided to me and this is my honest review of it.

First of all I fell in love with this gorgeous cover, then I fell in love with this amazing book. Once I heard that a new story in the Deviant Hearts series was on the horizon I was so excited as Rapture is one of my all time favourite rocker romances.

Deliverance was a beyond amazing read, the love story between the playboy, and incredibly talented drummer Zander who lives his life on the edge, and the bohemian artist Drew whose paintings are about to be exposed to the world catapulting her into the stratosphere of fame. But fame is the last thing she wants, her past compels her to hide in the shadows, be alone and trust only a few friends.

Though Drew is the most exasperating woman he has ever met Zander is unable to let go of her and is willing to do what it takes to win her over an idea that is so alien to this rocker used to women falling at his feet. Their romance takes one step forward and two steps back as good intentions are misunderstood, until Drew reveals her dark secrets and Zander bares his soul and they both begin to heal and they begin their future together.

I soaked up this story like a sponge, it is brilliantly written and sympathetic to the issues that Drew and her friends from the support group are dealing with. Of course it has off the charts heat and passion and sexiness but it is also a scary thriller which had me on the edge of my seat. Ms Britt rounds it off with a total nail biter of an ending in which Drew shows her guts and determination to have a future and Zander proves that he will always be there for her.

I love reading about characters that seem so easy to follow and enjoy but the author goes way deeper into feelings and insights .
Drew is an artist and I don’t think I’ve read any female character like hers. It artistic process and hers fears and struggles were so raw and almost touchable throughout the story.
Zander is the famous playboy that seems to have no worries in the world but living his free life anyway he wants. That’s until he mets Drew and everything seems to fall in place with a reason.
Slowest of burns , chemistry at the maximum level and some very suspenseful culminant moments , Deliverance is perfect for the rock stars romance lovers that are willing to take a chance on something very different than the usual boy meets girl and he f**** up but redeem himself in the end.

OMG what an absolutely amazing read - I totally loved it, I didn't want it to end.

What a wonderful character Drew is, and the chemistry between her and Zander is hot hot hot!!! He breaks through the walls she's built up, and sets himself up in her life - she fights a bit, but then realizes that she is just as invested in their relationship - geez they make a fabulous pair.

They both have pasts they'd like to get over, Zander's friend and bandmate, Drew's past - we'd all like to forget, and help her deal with it in the present. This book is gripping, when the a piece of the past comes back for Drew; and a project with a band Zander is filling in for, brings a member back to relive the horrors of the past - he helps deal with. His persona is truly wonderful and misunderstood by his fans, a great guy.

The group of her friends are colourful, but his friends have his back - they know Drew (through Hazel) and they embrace the friendship they all have.

Deliverance is a slow burn romance with twists and turns and plenty of ups and downs that will have you on the edge of your seat. Zander and Drew's story draws you in and holds you captive within their world. Their story has a darkness that at times surrounds you with just enough light filtering in. It has angst, suspense, drama, chemistry and has an intensity that you will feel soul deep. Two people that appear to be different sides of the same coin have a connection that radiates through the authors words. Fear plays a part in their story as Drew allows her doubts and scars to hold her at arms length and Zander must do everything he can to show her that their love will be worth a chance. The chemistry and the heat that these two emit will light up the pages and have you on fire. Their story is emotional and passionate and at times heart wrenching but the journey to happiness will be worth every moment.

I loved Drew and Zander’s book, their journey took me an emotional ride that I will never forget. Their story is not finished however, and their real journey still has a away to go. They both have a lot of struggles to over come in their past, it was so easy to fall into their story and get lost in their problems. This book was a page turner for me and an addictive read. I loved it and plan to read more from N.N. Britt.

Five deliverance stars!

This story begins shortly after Rapture’s ending. So please read it first! Zander and Drew story starts somehow slow but by the end of the book it is a whirlwind of emotions and events and you can’t put the book aside even if you want to. Another great read from N.N. Britt! Can’t wait for the next Deviant Hearts book.

It’s been far too long since I last read a book by N.N. Britt and I’ve definitely missed her writing. She’s got such a gift for bringing us the world of rockstars unlike any other author I’ve read.

This is one you’re going to want to drop everything to read because she’s done it again with Zander and Drew’s intense, heartfelt, heartbreaking and gripping story...full of passion, emotion, chemistry, and suspense!

Zander is the only single one left from his old band, The Deviant, and when it appears that his bandmates lives have moved past their rockstar glory years to wives and kids, he finds himself seeking something new and meaningful in his life. When another band approaches him to sign in as their interim drummer, he’s intrigued, but he also ends up becoming intrigued with a certain beautiful artist he recently bought a painting from.

Drew is getting ready for her art showing, keeping busy while hiding from certain aspects of her life. As the events of her past start to be revealed, so did my fear for what was to come.

Both flawed and broken, they find what they didn’t even know they were looking for. Two creative souls who understand each other and can’t help but fall in love despite the looming threat.

Wow, it was impossible to put this book down...incredibly sweet, steamy, angsty, and at times gut wrenching and breath stealing. I’m in awe and will not be forgetting this story anytime soon!

Zander Shaw is the last single man standing after her bandmates all found their person. They're on a very long hiatus, so when another band wants to use him while their drummer dries out, he decides it would be fun to do. Drew is a girl with some serious past demons that keep her closed off towards people in general so her happy place is her artwork, and no one knows anything past that. I'm not saying that Zander doesn't have his own demons, but the moment he spies Drew, he wants to make her his, however she's not having any of it. Of course her past may or may not stay in the past so we get suspense alongside this very emotional rock star romance as Zander is putting cracks in Drew's walls slowly but surely. I hope y'all understand that Deliverance is a slow burn since Drew isn't one of those heroines who meets the right man & all of a sudden things are great. This book is a work of art, and no one needs to miss out so you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This deserves MORE than the 5 stars listed! N. N. Britt writes a wonderfully beautiful story with characters that leap off the pages at you and make you delve into their lives so fluidly that you are engrained within the story. Zander is just trying to figure it out form one day to the next and from moment to moment. He stumbled on Drew who is in the same boat as he is just trying to figure out what life has in store for her and making it through day. This story grabbed me from the first chapter and did not let me go. It is engaging and makes me want for the best for these characters. It shows that this author actually cares very deeply about these characters and she is brilliant in her delivery to bring them to life with so much energy and love. I love this series and am so looking forward to more from her. You will be sorry if you do not have this on your shelf. This is one series NOT TO BE MISSED! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series and this book!

What a highly emotional read this book is! I've been looking forward to Zander's story, ever since reading Rapture. N.N Britt has an addictive way of writing, which I love. You just start reading and find yourself being absorbed into the story, you suffer and are happy along with the characters. Buckle up for Drew and Zander, their past struggles made them into the who they are today you, but together they could become more, but that's a long journey they have to take.

Enticing Rock Romance

Wow!! This book was a slow burn with drama, suspense, chemistry and emotional. Zander, the drummer for The Deviant, is back in town and ready to fill in for another bands drummer for the time being. Then he meets Drew who is the epitome of an artist. Drew is living with both physical and emotional scars brought on by her soon to be ex and Zander is ready to wait her out until she is ready. I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a book that is very well written and leaves you wanting for more.

Deliverance was my first book by N.N. Britt and her writing style was really interesting. It's different from the usual rockstar romance. She goes really deep into the characters and brings out so many emotions!

Ex drummer of rock band The Deviant, Zander met artist Drew Cadence in a gallery showing of his ex bandmate's wife. And he is instantly drawn to her unique personality. Drew doesn't want a relationship because the demons of her past are haunting her emotionally and they can catch up to her any time now. Zander is also going through a difficult transition in his personal life and career. This will be a tough journey for both of them.

I loved reading about these really refreshing characters in this story. Zander isn't what you think a typical rockstar would be. Or you can say that he has passed over that rock and roll phase. After living through all the horrors of celebrity life and losing a vital part, he now looks at life differently. And Drew is different. She is such a creative and curious and compassionate soul. And it's heartbreaking to see how she has become this wounded soul. And it's amazing how she pushes herself to be stronger and fearless. Their chemistry comes from their creative hearts and also from understanding each other in deeper level. What I had difficulty with was the slow pace of the story. Slow burn is good but I felt the story is taking forever to move..to the point that I wanted to skip chapters and the monologues and just go ahead. That's why I struggled and it took me a long time to finish it and it took out the overall emotional effect.

I could not put down this book. Zander and Drew both have pasts that have impacted them as a person. The minute you start reading you will be hooked, learning pieces about each of them as their journey continues throughout the book. Zander is at a crossroads and needs something more than his break his been on, but with all his buddies settled down or in the process, it has him reevaluating his life. Drew has a way of life she has created that she strictly follows, until Zander walks into her life. These two are drawn together and have a connection that can't be ignored. The push and pull these two have will drive you insane, but so worth the emotional rollercoaster of a journey. Zander and Drew captured my heart and left a mark. Their story is one you don't want to miss out on! Read and find out what happens between Zander and Drew!

Deliverance by N. N. Britt

This sweet, sexy, slow burn is not to be missed.
Deliverance is Zanders story. The nice guy in the band. The one that realizes he’s one of the luck ones, his childhood filled with love and lacking for nothing.
Then there’s Drew. An artist, trying to start her new life, away from her abusive husband.
They meet and Zander is struck from the start. He’s not used to pursuing a woman, they usually throw themselves at him. But Drew is not being coy, she’s trying to be open while still recovering.
This is a beautiful love story about redemption and perseverance and real life stuff.
I love the writing and the content.
For me, it started a little slow only because this is part of a series and there was some world building. I don’t say this as a criticism, only to forewarn so that you know it gets incredible super quick. I really loved both characters. I really loved this whole story❤️

I’ve always wanted to play the drums. I love the feelings it invokes in me to hear the drumbeat coming from the heart of a drummer. Zander invoked his own heart, soul feelings and yes, his own demons into the beat of his drums.

I absolutely loved the way N.N. Britt rendered her knowledge and understanding of the music world and delivered a realistic and heartfelt story. She is a truly talented author that has become one of my favorites.

The backstories to Drew and Zander’s lives and all they were dealing with was heart rendering. The slow burn, new friends to lovers aspect to their relationship was intriguing and poignant. I couldn’t stop reading it for its intensity and emotional depth. The different characters appearing throughout the story added so much to the plot and character development.

I thoroughly enjoyed this deeply moving story.

Be ready to have your emotions in check. I was taken on a ride from beginning to end. Since Rapture, I have been intrigued by Zander and his storyline, so I was anxious to get my hands on this book. I loved Drew. She was broken, flawed, and had a past that she was hiding from. Despite this, she and her rocker were on a path to perfection. Perfection being that this broken and flawed past melded them together in a relationship that was meant to be.

NN Britt is not scared and shies away from tough topics, she incorporates them into her perfected Rockstar world. A world that only someone from the inside would experience. Catch up on the last remaining single rocker and the emotional upheaval that he and his artist girl bring to the pages.

Another fantastic rockstar romance from this talented author. With her experience in the music industry, the nuanced details of this exciting world of The Deviant have a ring of authenticity that's different from other rockstar romances out there. Real, gritty and spectacular! I loved the previous stories and likewise drummer Zander's story is exciting and emotional and painful. The sexy drummer is on his second life as a drummer as a fill in with another band for recording a new album. He gets a second chance at saving a troubled musician after the fail with Chance years ago. Z Man is still suffering from his band mate's OD. Speaking of troubled...Zander meets a beautiful artist with a troubled past that's won't go away. Such a sensitive subject matter is domestic abuse. Drew is a fabulous heroine and so perfect for Zander. She brings out a new side of him. Softer, protective and so sexy. I couldn't believe the deviant bad boy drummer turned into a gentle, patient, loving man with Drew. So in-tune to her needs and feelings even when he didn't know what was behind some of her bazaar behavior. It's a slooow build to the sexy times between the two but delicious when it finally happened. I loved that this rocker manwhore was nervous about sex. The drama with Drew was fairly predictable but still heart stopping as her ex haunts her. I was surprised by Zander's reveal of his "monster". Didn't see that coming. One of the best parts is when all the band mates and their families get together. I feel like I missed Cruz's story but maybe it's in the making. And what about the elusive Tyler? Looks like Dom, Justice's manager and Tina, Drew's gallery owner are up next. Lots of other great characters in the story. Two of the best are Drew's bestie, Santiago and Drew's assistant, Patience. Not a quick read but so satisfying with wonderful characters, heartbreaking subjects of domestic and drug abuse, and a swoon worthy romance. Simply outstanding!

Drew a artist that is going through a divorce and he ex is a bit of mystery for awhile. My heart broke when she reminds herself "because I'm alive" she is a strong and brave heroine and I was cheering her on all the way through this book. Her bestie Santiago who fantastic, I wish he was mine❤

I love her and Santiago friendship especially when she super nervous about Zander. Scared of history repeating itself and all Santiago has to do is hold her. Calm her down with words of kindness and reminder everything is okay especially Zander. Basically I love all the friendships in this story and you get a family vibe from them with the loyalty and support.

Zander is the drummer to The Diviant band. I love his flash back memories of him playing drums as kid and his parents worked hard to get him them drums. He is fantastic with kids and he a brilliant hero.

Now the love story is just magical to me they are made for each other. My favourite part is the portrait scene its was adorable and I just smiled. Right no more spoilers !

There is one scene that had my heart in my throat and we just start the story that why it stands out the most. It's a nightmare and it was brilliantly written that my heart did stop. Start away I knew N.N Britt knows how to play the heart strings.

What an amazing read! I loved Rapture, but Deliverance hooked me in and did not let go. Some time has passed since the end of Rapture, and Zander has returned to Southern California after some world travel. His first stop is a gallery showing of his bandmate’s wife's work. His world is rocked by a piece of art and its creator, or is it the jet lag? Drew is everything Zander is not, but this is their journey.

Zander and Drew have a slow burn, chemistry-filled, complicated relationship. Both have emotional and physical scars, haunting them. The secondary characters in both their lives add a lot to the story keeping the pace quick. Emotionally charged writing provides, intense at times, suspense, darkness, and the struggles they create. It is how two broken people come together and make each other stronger. Will the past return to ruin all the happiness?

I would recommend reading Rapture before Deliverance, but it can stand alone.

Drew and Zander were such easy characters to read and fall in love with. Book 2 in the series, can be a stand alone this book continues to follow the Deviant band. Both Drew and Zander find themselves attracted to each falling in love but each has a past to threaten their pending relationship. A great read that couldn’t put down.

As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately drawn to the premise of this story and its premise of overcoming the past to make a future. From the first page to the last it's a story that pulled at my heartstrings while enjoying the slow-burn of their relationship as these two emotionally bruised people work through their issues to find something more with each other.

Zander Shaw's the last single man in rockband, The Deviant, and has been fully embracing the single lifestyle for the last year through womanizing and extreme sports. He's started feeling frustrated though with his band being on hiatus which has him happy to get a gig playing drums for another band while theirs is away at rehab. It's a chance to get back to doing what he does best, but it also introduces him to a quirky artist with a painful past she's been running from. Zander's a real player when readers first meet him, but the moment he meets Drew he's smitten. He's fascinated by her and wants to discover all the secrets she tries to keep hidden, drawn to the pain she keeps hidden behind a facade of cool. He too is hiding behind his rockstar facade, hiding from a past that's speeding ever closer to him. Through all the ups and downs I found Zander a delicious hero who undertook a slow burn romance with a woman who's his kindred spirit.

Drew Kadence is a woman happy to keep on the sidelines, an artistic woman who just wants to hone her craft, but unwilling to be in the spotlight for fear her scars and secrets will come to light. The moment she meets Zander is the moment everything changes for her as he works very hard to claim her heart, digs deep to discover the truth about what's holding her back from letting him claim her heart. Her attempts to stay hidden have kept her with only a few friends, but it soon becomes apparent that she can't ignore him forever. He's too charming and too persuasive in his flirtations. Drew's a likable heroine, one who's clearly been hurt by her past. She deserved some happiness after all she'd been through which is why I was rooting for her every step of the way.

This was an immensely satisfying romance of two people from very different lives whose mutual pain has them forming a connection. Some of the facets of the story were familiar but I still found myself drawn to the characters and their acceptance of their pasts in a hard-fought journey to happiness. After reading this I look forward to reading the previous book in this series as I thoroughly enjoyed this author's style and look forward to more of their romances set in the rockstar world.
