The book "The Great Snail Race" is a classic. One of the funniest books I have ever read! I would recommend this to young children or to anyone who loves SpongeBob. It starts off when Squidward spends seventeen hundred dollars on a snail and rubs it in SpongeBob’s face. Squidward goes on to tell him that he is going to enter his snail in the race Sunday. SpongeBob has an idea and is going to enter his snail, Gary, in the snail race Sunday as well. It goes on and tells you how SpongeBob pushed Gary to his limit the day before the race. Patrick also enters the race with his pet rock that he believes is a snail. At the race Gary is so tired that when the race starts Gary does not move at all. SpongeBob starts to yell at Gary to get moving but Gary does not. Finally Gary moves and his eye explodes, and he goes out of control and crashes. The leader of the race was Squidward's snail, which turns around to help out Gary and it is true love at first sight. The winner of the race ends up being Patrick’s rock. This was a great book that I read with my sister and I can't wait to read it again!

Once again, nothing exceptional about this Spongebob except that it's my son's new favorite. At least a level 2 reading book that encourages him to read by himself, it's typical silly Spongebob. A great addition to any Spongebob lover's collection.

Honestly this is a blatant retelling of the SpongeBob episode the great snail race and offers no new or imaginative storytelling and this isn’t even one of the better episodes in the show so it’s just average although the jokes on squidwards name both present in this book and the show never fail to make me laugh! Though I will say it was disturbing to read this line and see the image it accompanied “suddenly Gary’s bloodshot eye popped like a tire.” So parents beware that’s in the book.

A pretty solid picture book version of the episode. It loses something though I can't imagine what. Still enjoyable.

This book is almost word for word of the episode titled the same from season 3. My special needs son was saying the story before I was reading it to his brother and he couldn't see the book or know what was on the page. Still an okay SpongeBob book... SpongeBob learns he pushes his pet Gary too hard, beyond what Gary can do. And Patrick enters a rock and everyone says he doesn't have a chance... but who wins in the end? the reader will be surprised (if you haven't seen the episode anyhow)

Picture Book

SpongeBob wants to enter his snail into a race after Squidward states he's entering his new snail into a race. SpongeBob trains his snail and ends up pushing him too hard so he can't race at all, and Patrick's rock ends up winning the race.

This is a kinda rushed version of the episode of the same name.
Spongebob rushes his pet snail Gary to beat Squidward's snail in a snail race, but it's too much pressure for Gary.
It's a bit rushed, but not bad. I've seen the episode, and this version is rushed, but it's buyable.

I like Gary but I didn't like it when Sponge Bob made him work too hard.

Trigger warning for light animal (snail) abuse. Not as bad as some SpongeBob books.
