Oh wow. This book really kept me up... Turning pages way past the witching hour. Eddie is a brilliant writer. This is the third book I have read by him and my favorite so far. The only problem that I found is that now I want more? Please Mr.Generous, do you name proud and be generous with your writing. Great book. Highly recommend.

Short stories always seem to be hit or miss with me. There were some good storylines in Dusk, some of which were very creepy. If you like horror short stories and are looking for something unusual to add to your October reads, check this one out.

Dusk was a pleasure to read. First of all I want to say that I appreciate that so many of these stories have an underlying message of anti-bigotry. It's obvious that Eddie Generous does not take kindly to the idea of hating someone because of their color, sexual preference, weight, religion, and in " Red Hats" I could see what side of the political fence Mr. Generous stands on. I'm right there with you buddy!
The deeper I got into this book the better it got. I found the writing to be impeccable and descriptive, the characters fully developed and just the right amount of "but I want more...." at many endings. As I read Dance or Die I kept thinking of Stephen King's The Long Walk. In "story notes" I see that King was a great inspiration to Mr. Generous. It shows, in a good way. I think that Stephen King fans would enjoy these stories. Proper Farmer made me think of "Christine" and makes so called gas-guzzlers seem like dream machines.
I actually avoid comparing writers to each other because I think each writer is unique, but in this case I think it's fair. These stories bring Stephen King to mind and Eddie Generous mentions Stephen King as a great influence. Yes, Stephen King is brilliant but these are stories written by Eddie Generous, not Stephen King, and they stand on their own merit. I see real talent in this writing and look forward to more .from Eddie Generous. Thank you netgalley for allowing me to read and review Dusk.

I believe (?) this book is a self-published collection of short horror stories. With 28 stories, this is definitely one the biggest collection of short stories I've read.

Generous writes about all the kinds of horrors - from a neglectful mother leaving her child in the woods, to a couple trying to stay alive during a zombie apocalypse. There probably is a story that appeals to everyone in this collection.

I think this would be a good collection to work through in Halloween season.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book for review.

Another excellent collection from Eddie Generous. A great array of themes and settings, some recognisable as typical horror fare, while others struck me as very original. Generous' ideas and imagination always make for entertaining stories. Although the subject matter is challenging, I appreciated the originality and the willingness to go there in the story "Run, Boy" even if I was uncomfortable the entire time I was reading it. I loved the idea behind "The Gravedigger's Girl". "Badlands Dentistry" reminded me of Stephen King's "The End of the Whole Mess" and King's influence is evident throughout much of the collection, as is noted by Generous in his story notes. I do enjoy hearing about the origins of stories in collections through these sections at the end and Generous uses some to give colourful background to his tales (like "Unearthly Symphony"). I appreciate the insight. I continue to dig Generous's voice in his short stories. His dialogue and characterisation is incredible, reminiscent of King.
