Nice seasonal adventure with the unicorn school gang, sure to be a hit with fans of the series. Available in audio book format on BorrowBox, suitable for children aged 5+ as a read aloud, great short chapter book for emerging independent readers aged 7+

My 4 year old loves this series and would listen to a whole book in one go if I had the stamina to read it to her. Her giggles when Dave does a sparkly poo are priceless!

"Kuten moni teistä tietääkin", rehtori sanoi, "yksisarviset rakastavat kaikkea kummituksiin ja mörköihin liittyvää. Sen vuoksi Yksisarviskoulussa vietetään halloweenia kokonaisen viikon ajan!" (s. 27)
Halloween-teemainen yksisarviskirja oli vielä onnistuneempi kuin sarjan ensimmäinen osa, jonka luin pari vuotta sitten. Ei tuntunut paljon lukukokemusta haittaavan, ettei välissä ilmestyneitä kirjoja ole lukenut. Miran PYY eli paras yksisarvisystävä Teppo on ihastuttavan erilainen yksisarvinen: se röyhtäilee, piereskelee ja kakkii kaikkialla, toisin kuin kaikki muut yksisarviset. Kakkahuumori tosin väljähtyy aika nopeasti.
"Teppo ei ollut kuten muut Yksisarviskoulun PYY:t. Useimmat yksisarviset olivat taianomaisen kimaltelevia, sipsuttelivat tyylikkäästi ympäriinsä ja käyttäytyivät hyvin. Teppo puolestaan oli useimmiten pahalla tuulella. Se ahmi herkkuja ja keskeytti oppitunteja kakkaamalla tai kuorsaamalla kovaäänisesti." (s.12-13)
Yksisarviskoulun opettajia katoaa ja Miran luokka saa sijaisen. He epäilevät uutta opettajaa milloin vampyyriksi, milloin ihmissudeksi. Minne kummaan opettajat ovat joutuneet? Samaan aikaan pitäisi suunnitella halloweenyllätys ilahduttamaan muita oppilaita.
Tämä sopii hyvin ekaluokkalaisista ylöspäin. Tekstiä on sivulla aika vähän ja se on muutamaa sanavalintaa (mm. tiskijukka, macarena, muuvit) lukuun ottamatta melko helppoa.

Loved this latest one in the series! Dave is hilarious as usual and Violet loved the spooky adventure in this one.

This is a delightful book. Very entertaining, children will love Dave the unicorn with his smelly farts and enormous poos.
It's a short read 147 pages, ten chapters and on topic for this time of year. At the end your child can find out their level of spookiness with a short fun quiz.
