Arabella and Damaris look like identical twins, but their lives couldn't be more different. One is an heiress from Germany who is about to inherit a multi-million-dollar bakery, and one is an Amish baker from Maine.
What happens when they secretly switch places?
In order to get away from the pressure of inheriting her family's company, Arabella Blackwood escapes to the Amish community of Unity, Maine, hoping for some peace and quiet before beginning her new life. Her parents want her to marry the awkward son of their biggest competitor, Stefan Castle, which would save their business and pay off their debts.
In Unity, Arabella meets Damaris Kauffman, a baker who looks exactly like her. Damaris longs to travel to Europe, but her Amish community bans flying on airplanes.
Arabella and Damaris decide to secretly switch places temporarily, thinking that no one will get hurt. Damaris gets to travel to Germany on the paid vacation of a lifetime. All she has to do is pretend to be Arabella and spend time with Stefan Castle before the wedding. Arabella stays in Unity and pretends to be Damaris, taking on all of her chores without electricity, even though she grew up with maids and chefs catering to her. And she’s never gone more than a day without her cell phone or internet.
Arabella, an heiress living in Germany, is expected to take over management of her family's bakery chain within the year. Arabella loves baking and experimenting with new recipes, but abhors management. She dreams of living in a quiet corner of the world. Next, her parents tell her that their bakery chain is in debt and they suggest she marry Stefan Castle, son of the Castle Cakes conglomerate, who will pay off the debts of their family's bakery chain if they marry. Arabella sees a news story on TV and one of the ladies in the story looks identical to herself, an Amish girl named Damaris.. Arabella goes to Unity, Maine to meet Damaris. They concoct a scheme to switch places. Yes, what could possibly go wrong? This is an interesting story and kept me reading to the end to see what happened.
I did not realize this was book 3 - definitely have to look fo the first two books.
In this story a girl from Germany (her parents arranged a marriage to the son of their competitive bakery company to save their company) and she does not want to get married. So she leaves and goes to the United States to get away from her life in Germany.
There is a girl in an Amish Community whose father passed away and she is helping her mother with her siblings and working to help with the expenses.
The girl from Gernany ends up in the Amish Community. It is must read to see how each of the girls found their life's passion and love.
This is a fictional story of an Englisher and an Amish girl switching places and countries. It is well written and very enjoyable. To find out more about their adventure grab your copy today. I like this series and although this book is very very unrealistic it was still a good read. The premise follows the story of the Prince & the Pauper, which I guess is also an unrealistic tale, I find Ashley Emma's books go very fast, sometimes the plot seems very rushed. I guess maybe some people fall in love at first sight BUT this is not most people's experience and I often find it hard to believe that in a week someone falls in love enough to give up everything and become Amish. It is also highly unlikely an Englisher could integrate with the Amish so effortlessly with a few days of 'lessons' I know I couldn't. So my constructive criticism is this: read a few Beverly Lewis novels, she integrates love stories over time that are realistic so they don't seem so 'fake'. There are ups and downs and ebbs and flows just like in a real relationship. I want to get to know these characters at a deeper level. Some of them you do because they are in other books, but some like the bakery heiress in this book we don't know very well and it seems so wild she would change so much in just a few days- In the end I enjoyed this book and passed it on to my mother another Fan. I just want more depth to the story lines and longer plot lines that are more realistic. Despite these criticisms I still recommend this author, I think she will grow over time and just keep getting better and better. She certainly has a God given talent.

Reading how the Amish go about their day to day and how some dream of something more, leads us to this story of two girls and how their lives changed forever.
Damaris dreamed to do something more than her Amish ways. Arabella has so much riding on her shoulders, and all she wants is to bake and live simply. Little do they know how their dreams may come true. This story shows how two people from different worlds/countries come together and find true happiness, not just for themselves but for everyone around them. The adventures to get to their happiness is full of twists and turns, laughter, excitement, and so much more.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Princess and the Amish Pauper is book three in The Amish Fairytale Series. This story focuses on two you ladies that look alike from different worlds. Damaris is Amish living in Maine and has always wanted to go to Germany. Arabella is the daughter of a bakery giant in Germany and is being forced to marry a man she doesn’t want to. She sees Damaris online doing a news article and travels to meet Damaris and talks her into trading places.
This is a fun story to read. I was waiting through most of the story to see how it would turn out without someone getting hurt. This is a well written, fun, sweet story to read. It had enough mystery written into the story to keep me wanting to read it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. An amazingly different story that I couldn’t put down, as has been the case for all of her books I have read - which from looking at various lists are all but one of her books - it’s called “Nichole’s Voice “A Christian Romantic Suspense Novel” but the only list I found it on it’s called “Finding Forgiveness”. I plan on reading it next. I first read a story from Ashley Emma last year in the Amish Christmas Miracles Collection.
I'm not sure why this is so highly reviewed on GoodReads. It felt as if it was written by a very young person. I also found it very hard to believe that one of the characters came from Germany; her character sounded very American to me. Also, this book was touted as a standalone even though it was in a series, so I found it pretty frustrating that they had several (pretty involved) references to things that had happened in previous book(s). I'm sorry if this review is a bit harsh; I'm just feeling pretty disappointed.
Princess and the Amish Pauper Ashley Emma. Is a modern fairy tale with an Amish setting. It is a well written book based on Christian principles. I've read the book twice now and I still think it's a great story. The book has great characters that you get to know very well. A heartwarming story that lets you take a look at Amish life. A story about love and forgiveness and happy ever after. I enjoyed the book very much.
Damaris is an Amish woman who helps her widowed mother bake to help the family but her dream is to visit Germany and to run a bakery. Arabella is the only daughter and heir to the owners of Blackwood Bakery. When her parents insist she marry the son of their business rival to save the company...she runs. What follows will lead both women to God's best for them if they are willing to take it. Loved this book!
This was a story of an amish woman whose greatest love was to visit Germany and learn other things as she had not joined the church she could do more things. A young German woman has a longing to do something different in her life. She finds a young woman who looks like her so she invites her to trade places with her and the mystery goes from there. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Best Amish story ever!! I have been reading a lot of Amish stories lately. I really enjoy the different authors style and the stories they come up with. This one far exceeded my expectations. It kept me thinking about the story when I wasn't reading and it brought tears to my eyes when I was reading. This story could easily happen in real life. I would high recommend this author. She knows how to write a great story.
The Princess and the Amish Pauper by Ashley Emma is a sweet, feel-good romance that blends fairy, tale charm with Amish fiction. When a wealthy European heiress and a humble Amish baker, who look exactly alike, cross paths, they make a bold decision to switch lives. Each woman steps into a world completely opposite from her own, discovering love, faith, and purpose along the way. As cultures clash and hearts soften, both must decide what truly matters before their secret is revealed.
A story about two girls. One is Amish and the other one lives in Germany. They could pass as twins. The one decides they should switch places. So they do and ends up falling in love. So the truth comes out about what they have done.
You should get this book if you like reading about the Amish. I really enjoyed reading it. I love reading about the way they live.
I like that a US author sets her story in Germany - so many of the German authors have their books play in the US to make it more "interesting", it was interesting to see it the other way round for a change. And the story was so cute and heartwarming through and through, I especially liked what a big role their faith played, how important forgiveness and family was. That spoke to my heart!
I am enjoying this series of books but this third book was amazing! Needless to say, I had a day to get housework and chores done and didn’t get started until late evening. I was so engrossed in the storyline and could not take a break until about chapter 25.
Lovely story, rather like a fairy tale, of two women looking for something different in their lives and having the courage to go for it. Yes, mistakes were made, but they gained so much more than they had imagined. Fascinating.
This was a very slow starting read, but by the time I was halfway through it I started to really enjoy it. It's pretty far fetched really, but fun to imagine.
I did like the way the 'Beast' author was incorporated into the story though.
Two woman who are not satisfied with their lives meet. How will it change their lives? That makes a very interesting story that I enjoyed reading. I have read other books in the series and liked them . This one had a very different twist in it.
Mirror Images! One a young American Amish woman and one from a rich, German baking dynasty. They couldn't be more different, though neither are satisfied with their lives. Enter the magical fairytale! Well written with good characters and wit. (Reminded me of the Party Duke Show.)
Cute story but predictable. The title could have been reversed: T he Princess and the Amish Pauper. " The theme showed how family and true love are most important.
The fairy tale was a great pick for this book! I loved how the characters loosely followed the beloved story yet with its own plot and twists to keep the reader engaged and excited!
This is an absolute winner in my book. Twins that don't know they are a twin until one of them discovers the other one, they change places and lead totally different lives. I knew what was coming but not how it would work out.
This is a great romance between two couples from different worlds. i love this author and can not wait for more. this has some drama and some romance and is set in amish community.
