A short history of slavery in the northern United States of America.

A very eye-opening account of why the north really abolish slavery. This is the same as when I found out certain states in the south didn’t agree with slavery, because They wanted no Black people in the state and people pretend like they were abolitionist when they weren’t. This is the sad blight on our history and although there’s no way to rectify it the fact that we keep hashing it over and over again tells me how deep the scar runs. This is an excellent book for those of you think you know everything about slavery as I did LOL! There were a myriad of reasons for abolishing slavery in the north so I don’t want anyone to think that they weren’t noble pursuit for the end of slavery as they were. When Alexander Hamilton brought it up in 1788 to abolish slavery he was the only vote thank God 50 years later they had many more.

2.5 stars, I rounded up for historical accuracy. This is like an extreme cliff notes version. Things were accurate, but no real detail was given. You have the event, the date, and people involved. I was reading this and felt I had to use a rushed and hurried voice in my head, like time was running out. It’s good for someone who is brushing up on their facts, or just dipping their toes into history.

I chose the rating because the writers offer an informative view of part
of US history that is not always considered part of all American. The
information is presented in a way that broadens understanding of why
racism is a problem that must be addressed by all of the U.S. and not
just sections of states .

An interesting read. Once again it is pointed out that the history we learn in school is somewhat jaded, and lacking significant detail. Why? Because it is the winner in the fight who explains the reason and the events.

As always, the CR series provides us with the unvarnished facts in a clear concise manner. You wouldn't know all there is to know about slavery but you'll come away with a broad understanding of its origins and impact on the USA.

Excellent review of the deep roots of slavery in New England. Radical hypocrisy at its best revealed. Good read for intelligent citizens.
