“I love you.” But as the words leave my mouth, they don’t feel like they’re strong enough to describe the way I feel for Savannah, so I continue, trying to fully express the way I feel. “But more than that, I never want you to leave my sight.” […] “The way my body is constantly drawn toward you is like nothing I’ve ever felt. I crave you, desire you, need you. When you’re not with me, I want you to be. You’ve come to own so much of my heart, and while the thought of a woman holding that kind of power over me used to scare me, with you, it makes me feel stronger and more alive.”Was it a nice speech? Sure. But I wanted more, such as what it was about her specifically that made him want to have his first serious relationship. He kept emphasizing their sexual connection, which was frustrating considering their sex scenes felt tepid. To "demonstrate" their chemistry, the author kept including scenes of the couple forgetting to use contraceptives instead of, you know, actually writing sexy scenes - another pet peeve.
One minute, I was building nightclubs, partying it up and getting laid in LA, and the next, I’m trying to raise a teenager—one who’s failing out of school, almost burned my apartment down a few days ago when he was trying to smoke in his bathroom, and refuses to speak to me unless I force him to.
“You already know I have no desire to commit, and I have no doubt that the number of orgasms I could give you would have you forgetting about that asshole ex of yours.”
