This book has the most amazing drinks! My husband loves whiskey and he poured over the section in whiskey and the recipes. He made a few different recipes for me and they were fantastic!

I will say there are some ingredients we have no idea where to get. We stuck with the more common ingredients.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A fun look at Irish whiskies and how to use them. I know very little about cocktails and their ingredients but I love bar culture. Everyone knows my favorite tv show, and I welcome any opportunity to learn more about how the culture of bars as community gathering places developed. I’m not a regular drinker, often going weeks without even a single beer. I’ve had some great drunk nights out, but I’m happy to spend an afternoon nursing one or two and calling it a day these days. Nevertheless, I’ll never pass up a trip to a classic watering hole with my friends. Not everyone has had their Cheers at one time or another, but I have and I’ll paraphrase Rebecca’s last line on the show without irony: “They were the best days of my life.” I hope to make at least one drink from this book sometime.

To say the 3 authors are obsessed with Irish Whisky would be an understatement. You can absolutely tell they love what they do and they love talking about it. This isn’t your typical drinks guide book. Yes there’s wonderfully complex Irish Whisky cocktails but there’s so so much more. They discuss the history behind the Irish pubs and explain all the ingredients.

This isn’t one of those recipe books where they tell you you can make substitutions & it will be okay. No, the authors tell you exactly what you need and how much (or how to make what you need) to make the perfect drinks.

Very interesting even if you aren’t an Irish Whiskey drinker (yet).

I have always wanted to learn more about Whiskey and I am really glad I got to read this book. My favorite bar I go to here where I live is both a whiskey and craft beer bar. Now I can go in there and know what they are talking about. Another thing I loved about this book is that they had other recipes in there other than the cocktails. They had the recipes for the syrup and others that they used in the cocktails.

Thank you Netgalley and Mariner Books for letting me read and review this book.

I enjoyed the review of whiskey-making and comparison of different Irish varieties. I'd say that as a recipe book, it's geared towards bartenders; case in point: unique homemade additions like tonka bean syrup, pistachio orgeat, and za'atar tincture, yielding 1L with a shelf life of one week! But I got the gist of these creations, taking notes on best pairings, sticking with concepts like sweet vermouth, cream sherry, fruit juice, nut liqueur, brandy, absinthe, and bitters. That I can dig, and I will.
