New York Times Bestseller Corinne Michaels brings a fun, sweet holiday short story.
All I want for Christmas... is to pretend the holidays do not exist. That should be my tagline for life. Another year with no one to kiss under the mistletoe. Of course, it doesn’t help that after my last epic breakup, I hopped into the sack with the one man I should’ve avoided. My arch-rival, Dean Pritchard. Despite the fact that he didn't bother calling after our night together, I can't get him out of my head. I am so on the naughty list. But when a snowstorm traps us in an elevator, I can't avoid my work crush any longer. Will Dean be the lift I’ve needed for the holidays, or will Santa skip me yet again?

Actual rating 3.5 stars. At first I really liked the beginning of this short. It was different and interesting. Then things started moving way too fast. They (Holly and Dean, the main characters) were both confessing how they've always had feelings for each other. I understand why. The original story was only 30 pages. However, if your going to expand it, expand all of it!
Anyway, there is a time jump, things slow down and become all warm and love-filled. I thought it was so sweet the way Dean had planned everything out. That he knew without a doubt exactly what Holly wanted.
What I didn't understand was why the work plot was so big. I feel like the same ending could've been accomplished without the 'snowstorm' of rearranging things. Then again, that 'snowstorm' could've been the exact reason for that decision...
Anyway, something I wasn't expecting but loved was that the 'big' thing that happens, happens on Christmas Eve! Loved that coincidence!

3.5 stars! With such a busy time of year, I’m leaning into novellas more and more, and this was the perfect quick read to lift my spirits and get me into the festive mood. It was a workplace romance that was both spicy and sweet, with insta love and forced proximity.
Continuing with the Holidays theme, I recommend this short story. You know one of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers, so I really enjoyed the evolution in Holly and Dean's relationship. Both began as rivals, one always seeking to be better than the other. But their attraction was too much. After one night, this attraction intensifies, but so does Holly's hatred of Dean. However, an elevator was the opportunity they were waiting for to express their true feelings.
"A Holiday Lift” although it’s short, it’s a very entertaining story. With a man very involved in business, a perfectionist committed to his work but when he falls in love, his priority is the woman he loves. Looking to give her the best Christmas of her life. Holly is a very competitive woman, but also sentimental and empathetic. Nothing better to end the year that reading this short story.
―Me gustas, Holly.
A Holiday Lift by Corinne Michaels ❤️ Standalone, Short Story

❤️ holiday romance 💚 office romance ❤️ one night to more 💚 stuck together in an elevator ❤️ HEA
Okay, I have to start this off by saying I really loved the narrators here. Their voices were absolutely on point 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
On to the story. This. Was. So. Cute. If there ever was a gingerbread cookie of a book… this would be it 😍
I loved our MCs even if we didn’t get much of their falling because hello short story. I was immediately laughing because the opening scene is just too good 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 girl, I feel you.
Corinne Michaels got me a little scared with that time jump but oof, we were safe. Way better than just safe. We were marvelous 🎄
Okay. Okay. I’m sold on audiobooks. Let the new era begin. 😎
Are we sure that Corinne Michaels actually wrote this?? I mean, this is adorable...Corinne doesn't write adorable. I mean she can, but then someone ends up dying to even things out.
Truthfully, this was super cute and definitely got me in the Christmas spirit.
That was…rough. The pacing was off. The chemistry wasn’t there. The same thing was said over and over. And over. Lots of skimming through the last chapter of that.
#Workplace #Holiday #Novella Originally a short story, this novella is expanded to include a true HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
I picked this up as a paperback at Indies Invade Philly. I love a quick, steamy holiday read and this fits the bill. On top of that it is super cute. Hot night in the office? Stuck in an elevator together after not taking for a week? Dean teaches Holly to love Christmas again. He is an earnest hero you can't help but love. I really appreciated how they each understand the other's work load and commitment to their job. I adored the expansion of the short. This is a wonderful quick holiday read with all the feels.
This was actually really good, love the characters, they were well-written with no big drama! This was such a wonderful, quick read that left me smiling all day!! Christmas stories are really great. Highly recommend!
“I’m going to make you love Christmas again, Holls. I’m going to show you that Santa, snow, the music, and all things are full of joy.”
This holiday novella brought the Christmas spirit into my life and put a huge smile onto my face. I am digging all these cute holiday stories, I am already watching Hallmark movies all day long, so getting to read these stories with a little more steam is just what my heart needs!
For Holly and Dean, getting stuck together in an elevator turns out to be the unexpected surprise they both need to let their feelings go from competitive co-workers to forever love. Dean brings the joy back into the holidays for Holly and I swooned over his absolute care in making it the best time of the year!
“Dean, you are my Christmas. You’re the joy and the hope that comes with it. You’re the miracle I don’t know how I was fortunate enough to receive.
