In a city of flying mountains and magic palaces, a man must hunt for his lost friends and face the legacy they left behind.Theo's family is safe, but the Ten Thousand Worlds are still rife with both danger and opportunity. His old friends are missing, but now Theo's finally caught their trail. For the first time since coming to this strange world of elves and cultivation, Theo must leave the Hearthwood Forest and see the world beyond the trees.
Outside, enemies lurk in wait, eager to tear apart everything Theo has built. But Theo's no longer a wide-eyed and wondrous human. Now, he's got teeth of his own.
Gamelit, cultivation, and unconventional relationships.
The story continues to keep me entertained as the characters are fun to read about and the MC makes smart decisions that are logical.Overall I think it was a good book.
Wonderful continuation; needs another editing pass
I've really fallen in love with the world of Theo and the Heartwood. All the different styles and varieties of magic really make for an interesting read. I enjoy the cultivation and seeing what the next location is going to be like.
The story continues as Theo finds more allies and stumbles into new trouble outside of his forest. After finally visiting the capital he gets to see what the world is like outside of his backwoods home. I enjoy that each of the matriarchs has their own thing to do and we get insights into what each of them are doing. I also enjoy how Theo managed to solve the problems each matriarch encountered and even managed to convince a few problems to handle each other. I still want to know what's happening with Melise, though. I'm guessing that will happen in the next entry.
Sadly, I found quite a few typos. I reported them to Kindle, but they still threw off the flow enough that I had to dock a star.
The last book, while overall good, suffered from the problem of having too many characters doing too many things. This book has the same issue, with characters spending so much time doing their own things, that I was left to question where their loyalties actually were. Beyond this you have a MC who seems determined to level up (a major aspect of the story) in a very ineffective manner, all while telling himself "gotta hurry up and level". At one point in the story he even says "i should stay and level more... but... someone wanted to talk to me" (paraphrasing to avoid spoilers). If you can look beyond these frustrating issues, you will find an interesting world, with overall decent characters, expressed through good (if sometimes long-winded) writing. While this book is not as strong as its predecessors, I will pick up the next one in the hopes that this entry was a lull as opposed to a new direction.
I like this author and the writing style they have. The first book was a fun ride but as the world and caste grew I felt myself growing less and less interested. So when the cringey sections showing off Deans egotistical endeavors began I found myself wanting to read something else, knowing that this will be something that will pop up again in later books and eventually the cast will likely interact with Dean in the future was the final nail on this one. I look forward to other works by this author but this will be my "bus stop" for this story.
I have enjoyed this series so far. This book is a welcome edition. Theo is progressing in both his cultivation and his influence. He must enter the capital where he start to dig into political intrigue. Most of the elves are a bit simple minded but Then still bamboozled them all and twarts their plans. Selected rising to the next level of cultivation proves to be easier said than some but Then is all about the effort. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more especially the Princess.....
I absolutely binged this series. The storyline is EPIC. The only thing that let it down are the lacklustre s€x scenes, and the authors obsession with having an impossibily huge di€k spraying copious amounts of c¥m.... if you can overlook the sub-par s€x scenes, the rest of the series is really, really good. if I were the author, I'd collaborate with a female author who REALLY knows how to write s€x scenes, and he'd increase his reader base to include so many ladies.... who knows - the men may learn a thing or two as well......it would be a win/win, and a service to unsatisfied women everywhere 🫶
Many things happen in this arc completion. Characters get stronger, and new friends and enemies appear. Action abounds in many ways and fight scenes, where working smarter rather than harder is a key to success that our MC understands. I can’t wait to see where we go from here! Definitely recommended (16+).
The pace is picking up quite a bit. I really am enjoying how the main character handles situations. I'm really enjoying what we're finding out and I'm interested to see where we end up going in the next book. Things are definitely picking up and can't wait to read the next book. Wish it was out already
Another great book by Marvin Whiteknight. He writes likable MC's which is not as easy as you'd think, and he crafted a pretty entertaining story her with several small plotlines which all converged in the end in a quite entertaining manner. The book wasn't perfect but it's close enough that i'd give it 5 stars.
Also really starting to like the new supporting cast of MC's dozen daughters.
Theo may be in the capital but he works to strengthen the Hearthwood Clan. The way he was able to get his enemies to fight each other was great. But new problems will be coming
Damn good book and a excellent series well worth the read. Had a very hard time putting it down and now I need the next book ,I so can't wait till the next book is here
for anyone wondering if this book is worth the time to read, let me be the 1st to let you know That The story is Addicting. Not only that, but it's well written, with excellent character depth.I can't wait for the next volume
Good editing, didn't notice many errors Nice use of guile and trickery Smut was ...interesting? Wasn't drawn out to get in the way of everything else either. Overall a solid story. Can't wait to read the next book
I really !liked this book. However i.mean the Princes should just come out and say she wants him for sexual relations and he should then try helping her politically. Anyway impressive read.
The first quarter of the book was really good! But soon enough he’s milking it out. Which fragment is just right? Got to travel about annoying people for a while. No time to advance! God almighty.
I would recommend this series to anyone. I feel it has been well thought out with each installment and am looking forward to reading the next one about Theo and his girls
I had higher hopes for this series after the second book but the problems I had in the previous books are the same in this one. This is a story where a human has more vitality than anyone else in this world. This means that the elves who are 95% female would do anything to be with one so they can have strong children and progress in their power. This is a harem fantasy that really isn't. Sometimes in these type of books the sex scenes detract from the actual story. This one has the opposite problem. With this setup, the lack of sexual activity detracts a little from the story. There were only really 2 scenes in this book and they weren't well written.
The previous books in the series involved the groups village being attacked over and over again and having to fight for survival. This book was a little different. The majority of the story took place in the capital. While they did have enemies and battles, it was the huge battles that were seen in previous books. There is a .... conflict/problem I have with the setup. I am not sure what exact word I can use to explain it. This story is sort of like cultivation novels where the goal is to get stronger. The MC is getting stronger at an insane pace. He is told many times that it might take years or decades to get to a higher level, and yet he does it in months. The problem I have is that despite his meteoric rise in power in a short period of time, it still seems pretty slow. I say that because the whole story is about him gaining power and for most of it, he doesn't. He only really gains power in the end. I also have another problem Overall this is a decent series that I was hoping would have been great.
