The Cringle Academy

Rate this book
Ho! Ho! No!!
Step One: Infiltrate Cringle Academy (which is filled with the snobbiest witches and wizards in existence, ugh)
Step Two: Kidnap Santa
Step Three: Win back my stolen crown
Step Four: Take back Christmas

I'm the last Christmas elf and I'm freaking tired of that jolly, twinkle-eyed joke acting like he invented my holiday! I’m tired of witches and wizards turning Christmas into a corporation. And I’m absolutely over the whole elegant Christmas vibe these weirdos created. I mean pastels?! When did Christmas involve PASTELS!

I’m competing in this school’s famous Christmas Cringle Competition. A week of everything Christmas--baking, snowball fights, gingerbread houses. Oh, I’ve so got this.

There are a few things threatening to ruin my plans though:
Professor Jack Frost is winter itself. He's a powerful, ancient elf that could ruin my ruse if he gets too close and realizes who I really am.
Nick Krampus, the frightening Krampus monster who enjoys his job of punishing naughty people way too much. Yikes--is kidnapping Santa considered naughty?
Pyr Claus. Cringle Academy's little golden prince who I will in no way fall for. I don't care how good he looks or how everyone seems to buy his whole nice guy act. He's a Claus, enemy numero uno.

I'm pretty sure they know I've got Santa in my closet...

I am so dead.

Author Note: A STANDALONE holiday why choose/paranormal reverse harem with three male love interests and mm scenes.

Beatrix Hollow has done it again! I absolutely love her writing style, her quirky characters, and her love stories. I generally don’t seem to like Why Choose romances. They usually sacrifice story and character development for smut, and I’m not a huge fan of love interests that are two dimensional. But with Beatrix Hollow’s books, she creates characters that jump off the page and become so three-dimensional I feel like they could be someone I know in real life. This book is only 217 pages (according to Goodreads), yet it has a unique world, a creative plot, a lovable heroine, three love interests with fascinating backstories, and lots of twists and turns in the plot. I loved it so much! It’s not as dark as the other books by her I’ve read, but it’s still not too sickly sweet, which I find is the case with a lot of Christmas books. My one almost complaint was that the backstory for the heroine is kind of confusing at first (She’s the last “Christmas Elf”, but how old is she? Who is she? How is kidnapping Santa going to help anything?) BUT that turned out to be necessary for the plot, as it’s all explained later, so it all worked out perfectly in the end!
5 + stars!

I gotta say, I'm really getting into this whole monster smut genre. I was dipping my toe before but I'm ready to just cannonball it in.

Beatrix Hollow is a big big part of this questionable decision. She just makes it so fun. I love her imagination and how she finds interesting ways to reinvent familiar characters. She's giving you a story with your smut. And oh my, the smut! The smut is fabulous! Nick was my favourite.

This was real fun.

I went into this book having less than zero clue what to anticipate from it. I was expecting some cheesy RH Christmas read and while some parts were just that, it was all part of the books charm. I don’t know if I’ve ever used the word whimsical to describe a book but the word fits the book to a T. I had so much fun reading this book and I think the author did such a great job of throwing up Christmas in a fun and sexy way. We have a badass ballsy heroine who sets out to save and restore Christmas. As the last remaining Christmas elf, Santa is her enemy and the sole being she believes to have stolen Christmas from her people. She seeks to restore order and goes about that by kidnapping her nemesis and falsely enrolling in Cringle Academy where she can participate in the annual Christmas Challenge and win back her crown. Of course while she’s a natural at everything Christmas (trust me, she is Christmas) there’s three men who will who won’t make it easy for her. There’s Jack Frost, Nick Krampus and Pyrs Klaus-the future Santa. For such a quick read the book was filled to the brim with so much fun and excitement. From baking contests to high stakes snow ball fights and fights with a Nordic God the book was a non stop ode to Christmas and promises a jolly good time 🎄🎅🏽

Honestly one of the most terribly written things I've ever attempted to read. Like reading a horny 12 year old's fanfic that should've stayed on Wattpad.

Not sure how the author has so many fans/stans, but uh, get that bag, I guess.

SO glad this was the book I picked for the end of the season

Seriously, where has this book been?
Ok fine, it’s been buried in my out of control TBR.
This was a masterpiece with a mix of holiday magic and Hollow’s psychotic MMC vibes. Nick was obvs the best character, and if you say he’s not then you’re lying. He had all the stalker energy and pushed every other MC to face sides of themselves they preferred to ignore. But he also forced himself to reckon with his own thoughts and feelings.
This isn’t to say that Jack, Pyr, and Noelle weren’t great too, because they were! They were all pretty well rounded and had interesting backstories. But Nick is still the best.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: dubcon, stalking, kidnapping, violence, isolation

Read for fun because kidnapping Sandy Claus. I don’t even care it’s not Christmas, all the usual reading rules are out the window this year. I liked it. It was fun, sexed up and Noelle thought she was a badass but was being stalked near the entire time.

I liked the guys Jack, Nick and Pyr. Felt sorry for Pyr with the pervert stuff. Jack was cool and Nick…wow. Strong on the MM. Santa was a bit of a creep and everyone paled in comparison to Krampus. It’s always entertaining when there’s a struggle and then along comes the OP character. It was different and well rounded.

Noelle remembers very little from her past. All she knows is that Santa is to blame for why she ended up the last Christmas elf, living all alone in her castle. Why Christmas has become the pastel abomination it has. She sets out to take back Christmas, starting with kidnapping Santa, infiltrate the Cringle Academy and reclaim her Christmas crown by winning the annual Christmas Challenge.

I usually don't read holiday books cause I find them to cheesy for my dark heart. But I've been on a BH kick lately and decided to make an exception for her. Didn't not regret it. Noelle was a likeable heroine who was gutsy and capable without the dreaded annoying 'feisty' that so many authors seem to overdo. I sympathized with how wronged she was and felt her isolation and loneliness. Her adversarial relationship with Santa amused me to no end. Loved that back and forth banter and that Santa was a big ole elf-loving pervert. Loved the guys and my favorite, to no one's surprise, was Krampus. His stalkery darkness really called to me and I enjoyed his punishments for being naughty. His true form was fucked up though and the stuff of nightmares. Didn't mind the MM since Noelle was the main focus. The revelations of Noelle's past was a twist I didn't see coming but it all worked out and everyone got their HEA. BH needs to release more books since I've only got one more unread book by her then the agonizing wait for more.

⚠️ Possible Spoilers Ahead ⚠️

I have never fell in love harder or been more excited by a standalone in my life. This book was amazing and so so perfect for Christmas.

You get characters such as Jack Frost, Krampus, Pry Christmas, and the Christmas spirit herself.

It comes as no surprise how hard I feel for this book considering I’m obsessed with the authors other works but her writing and imagination that went into this was phenomenal!!!

Christmas Spice.

Christmas cuteness, romance, and high erotic heat spice up this fun little read. The Christmas Queen has a plan to take Christmas back, but ends up with more than she bargained for with elfin Winter god Jack Frost, Nick Krampus, and Pyr Claus.
There are a couple absolutely wonderful m/m scenes that I seriously want more of from this quartet. I’ll just cross my fingers this season inspires the author to do an epilogue, after some time has passed and these four have grown more comfortably into their harem ;)

This book is definitely one of the best book I read in the last 5 years.

It is super light, well written, so many Christmas references from another point of view, there is a plot twist and the scenes are super steamy.

I don't know how the author was able to do all that on one short book, I am impressed that the book did not seamed rushed ans at the same time had so much character development and world build!

Really impressive written. I will be consuming everything from this author!

MMMF bi-awakening. Celibate fmc(“very long” she says)/Non virgin mmcs(no details).

Noelle: (fmc/white haired/christmas elf) Mischievous. Revenge driven. Hyperactive.
Jack: (mmc/white haired/winter elf) Reserved.
Nick: (mmc/raven haired/krampus) Mischievous. Smart alleck.

I loved this story. Noelle is the last Christmas elf and is determined to save Christmas from the rich, magically-powerful humans even if she has to do some "naughty" things to succeed. She infiltrates the Cringle Academy and realizes that not everything is as it seemed. She runs into "Jack" Frost, Krampus, and Santa's grandson. Each of them are as attracted to her as she is to them, and they are each magical in their own way. These surprises make for a very challenging, twisted plot as Noelle plays the games required to win back Christmas.

This story engaged me from the first page since it was very different from any Christmas, Krampus, Santa, elf, or Jack Frost story I had every read. The twists and turns in the story kept it fun and light while making me wonder what would come next. Fabulous imaginative story that I read all the way through in one sitting.

This book was full of loads of things I love; paranormal, RH, swoony MMCs, romance, spice, however it still felt like there was a little something missing. I think some character backgrounds and motivations needed fleshing out a little more. Unfortunately, it also needs a good proofread as there were numerous instances of a word missing or the wrong one used. HOWEVER, I did really enjoy it and loved all the Christmas history and world building that was incorporated, so it won't put me off checking out the author's backlist.

⚠️ mild spoilers and tropes ⚠️

Bea did it again. Another monster why choose romance that was equal parts hilarious and spicy. This time though, her monsters include Noelle (the elf queen of Christmas herself), Jack Frost, Nick Krampus, and Pyr Claus (the future Santa). The book captures the cozy, feel-good spirit of the holiday with a delightful amount of Christmas cheer and classic holiday activities, such as baking, decorating, and a large snowball fight, while also simultaneously focusing on Noelle's "liberation of Christmas" and the blossoming romances between her and her men.

Jack Frost provides the foundation of the group, and the chemistry is immediate and steamy between him and Noelle. They attribute their instant attraction to their shared elven heritage, but it turns out they were married long ago, only to have circumstances cause them to forget about each other. Even after all that time apart, they still recognized each other at soul level. It was quite sweet.

Krampus brings leadership/Dominance and acceptance to the group, and since Noelle isn't trying to avoid his suspicion (Frost) and doesn't hate his family (Claus) she doesn't hold herself back from flirting and enjoying his company. Due to his ability to see into the soul of a person, and any "naughty" behavior, Krampus knew immediately what Noelle was up to and fell in love with her because of it all. The fact that he immediately accepted her and showed absolute loyalty was the icing on the Christmas cookie. His stalker and voyeuristic tendencies added a nice little spice to the story.

Pyr started as the cliché popular good guy, but after one horrified shout of "pervert!", his whole world gets rocked and he becomes much more dimensional. He's still a cinnamon roll, but Noelle's "hate" for Pyr allows him to learn about some hidden kinks, and eventually, her influence helps him break out of his shell and stand his ground more.

All in all, I loved that there was no jealousy between the males and that Krampus (the most masculine and dominating presence of the group) was leading the charge on the MM action.

This book exceeded my expectations, largely because I'm not a huge Christmas-y type of person. This book is more cutesy than dark and I wasn't sure how that would shake out since I've read most of her other dark content. I shouldn't have doubted the author, she always does a great job balancing the plot to spice ratio. If you enjoy why choose romance, if you love Christmas, if you enjoy silly banter... this is the book for you.

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t start it sooner. I absolutely loved it! It was over the top, balls to the walls hilarious insanity while still being incredibly spicy with a great plot with lots of unexpected twists. Anyone else writing this might have started to wonder if some of the Christmas puns and language were a little too much but not Beatrix. She was like it needs more! And I loved every minute of it.

Noelle is the last Christmas elf and she has had enough of Christmas becoming the commercialized and aesthetic holiday that Santa has turned it into and decides to take back Christmas! The first step in brilliant plan is to infiltrate Cringle Academy where Santa Claus and her Christmas crown are, then kidnap Santa, win her crown back, and save Christmas! Everything would have gone according to plan if it wasn’t for three super sexy guys that keep distracting her.

I love Noelle so much. There was nothing subtle about her. She thought she was so sneaky and had everyone fooled into thinking she was a witch, when literally no one who spoke directly to her believe that. Everyone knew who she was and what she had done but was waiting to see what her plan was while she thought she was a master spy. The shenanigans she got herself into had me cackling the entire book.

I was so intrigued by Jack Frost and the mysterious connection they had despite having no memory of each other. It made me so happy that Noelle found another elf, it must have been so lonely for her.

Pyr was the last person Noelle wanted to be attracted to. He was a Claus and therefore her sworn enemy. But he was such a sweet, earnest, and sexy guy that she couldn’t help but be drawn to him. This made her mad which made her mean and sometimes violent towards him. Luckily Pyr was unexpectedly turned on by her rage and her aggression towards him. Poor Pyr was put in some of the most embarrassing situations because of Noelle.

Nick Krampus has my heart and is now at the top of my list of book boyfriends. I mean who doesn’t love a sexy stalker, with a literal monster inside him, that loves and worships the ground Noelle works on and always has TWO sets of handcuffs on hand?

I am not ready to leave these characters behind. I wish there was a bonus epilogue or something where we got a snipped of what life was like for all of them once things settled down.

This is a freaking masterpiece. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it until I’m as blue in the face as Jack Frost—I love Beatrix Hollow. Her writing is so smart, humorous, and well thought out. Cringle Academy is so over the top but it was full of wit, plot twists to keep you guessing and engaged, and spicy scenes in every shape, size, and variation. I wish I had started this sooner in December but it will definitely be making its way into my reread pile next Christmas.

Noelle was fantastic. The ultimate sneaky ninja in her own mind with not a subtle bone in her body in the real world. I loved how convinced she was that everyone believed she was a witch despite her entire being SCREAMING elf and she deceived not a single soul. She was chaotic and her high jinks and inner monologue had me laughing out loud the entire book.

I know I shouldn’t but I always have a favorite MMC and Nicholas was it. Unhinged, dark, mysterious, devious, and equipped with multiple sets of handcuffs? Tie me up any day, monster boy. But truly, every single MMC had such a unique presence that pulled me right in. I loved Pyr’s secret kinky side hidden under his good boy exterior and Frost’s snow flurries and deep connection to Noelle with mysterious origins were fascinating. When they all finally came together, it was a hot mess of chaotic bliss I couldn’t get enough of.

My only complaint is that I wanted more and I’m shamelessly begging for a bonus epilogue some time in the future. 🤞🏼

Cute, Cristmassy, Kinky?🤔

This was a fun read. Noelle for me was either hilarious in a sort of "carry on" film way ,very on the nose comedy but it worked. Or she was a bit annoying in an immature way.

Frost I felt was under used in this story we didn't really get much time with him , I would have preferred his character be fleshed out more than Say Pyre.

But Nick....NICK was the star of this show for me. The sunshine Psycho stalker ,who has a knack for getting the others to face up to their hidden desires and let their kinks fly free 🥰 I loved him, favourite character hands down .

“Why would I learn your quirks?” She asked. I just smiled because I didn’t want to freak her out too soon. Admitting you're in love with a practical stranger wasn’t generally well-received. Admitting that from the first time I saw her I knew I’d never leave her alone, would probably come off a little too strong. I’d tell her soon enough though.

Did I mention how very large the stump between us felt? I mean, that couldn’t be him, right? “Do you have a flashlight or something in your pants? Like one of those big military-esque ones with the… uh,” I trailed off as his eyes shone with embarrassment. “Right, that’s indeed your dick. You’re very large,” I cleared my throat, “thick dick. Okay, I’m getting up.”🌲🌲🌲

i made it upto chapter five before i gave up trying to rationalize the story. i have to say that I'm absolutely, utterly confused. which is sad because no one should be frustrated with a book this early own. i love the ingenuity of the whole story but i'm confused and disappointed with the presentation so far. the characters behaviour, reactions, and mentality makes no sense. its probably because there is no clear back story and thought process stated even though the story is presented with multiple POVs.
the idea behind this makes sense. it truly does. but i think you fell flat with the delivery. the concept is unique and engaging so it might be worth it to re-edit some points.

"..you make me furious.."
and almost soon after
"He hummed. My nose tickled with the scent of pine and clove. A warmth filled my chest. Santa really was awesome, wasn’t he?"

I mean she switches from highly agitated to warm and accepting so fast that it's giving ME a whiplash keeping up. she supposed to be the brave and fearless heroine (if I'm not mistaken) but all I'm getting is naïve and gullible little girl.

Another win from Beatrix Hollow in the paranormal dark yet funny smut genre! She can write this trope/style like no other author I've read before. I'm enjoying her books more and more lately.

This is a Christmas novella involving Santa, Jack Frost, Krampus, and The Christmas Spirit. There are other side players, of course, but these are the stars. Noelle, the last remaining Christmas Elf, is hell-bent on taking down Santa and his prestigious school that teaches upcoming witches and warlocks. She believes she deserves the Christmas holiday and all that it encompasses. Trying to hide the fact that she's an elf, she sneaks into the school to kidnap the beloved round man himself. What she doesn't expect is exactly what she finds.

BH has such a tremendous imaginative brain that weaves together humor, smut, paranormal, dark, and even some horror aspects! I love her stuff and will continue reading her complete library.

A solid 4-star read, for sure!

What I expected heading into this story was way different from what I got but I was still happy with the end result. I did get a little confused at times with what was going on in the story but I think I figured it out by the end. I enjoyed all the twists and turns that came my way throughout the story; the plot was great and written well. The characters were each different and unique in their own way but all seemed to connect and click together in just the right ways. The female character was amusing to observe all throughout the whole story and made me chuckle at times with her antics.

I give this a four out of five stars. The plot and characters were fantastic but I did get a little confused at times. Overall a fun holiday read.

So close to greatness

It's really more 3.5 stars. The story is funny and the characters are engaging. So why not 5 stars? It feels rushed and disjointed at times with a few grammatical errors and repeated phrases. "Snowglobe eyes" is one that started distracting from the story. The characters didn't really talk out anything or show meaning/realistic growth. The battle scene was awkward, as was the resolution. Things were explained away after the happened, without build up (e.g., someone gets memories back and then another does because surprise potions wear off, what dahduque?!). A first time intimacy has no realistic preparation. And my personal peeves: living off of sugar and carbs, but being incredibly fit/skinny, and being small with long legs.
If you like superficial, funny smut, this definitely for you.

That was fun! I was expecting a little Christmas brain candy smut—and that’s exactly what I got—but the characters were so likable that I’m sure I’ll read this again. It actually had some MM scenes too, which was an unexpected surprise 😃 😍 🥵.

The world that the author has created has a very lived-in feel to it, while at the same time being deliciously over the top. Candy castles, a Christmas academy, an eggnog river, elves, witches and wizards, sexy Krampus and Jack Frost. Even the curse words are hilarious (“Oh, reindeer poop!”). Noelle toed the line between being a little naughty and also a lovable sweetheart. She couldn’t lie to save her life, but she could make a beautiful gingerbread castle! I found myself really drawn into the mystery of her memory loss and I was really rooting for her to reclaim her magic and memories. Highly recommend.

This book was everything I could have wanted for the holiday season. While it was largely Christmas based, it also included older creatures and lore from Yule. Which was absolutely fantastic to read about. This book held so much mystery, spice, humor and emotion that I had a hard time putting it down but also didn’t want it to end.

Beatrix created a fantastical and beautiful world that embodied Christmas and winter in general. While I’m not usually a person who gets super in to Christmas, this book definitely was worth the read. The character development was perfectly paced for a standalone and I loved that things weren’t always what they seemed.

This book will definitely be added to my list of holiday favorites for sure.

Naughty boys and girls

Dark humor, giddy excitement over the possible twisted demise of Santa, naughty elves doing, oh so naughty things - where has this book been; but not importantly, I'm so grateful that wickedly deviant, yet sharp-witted mind of Beatrix brought it to us.

It's all over the place with the crazy ride that Noelle takes the reader on. Passion to save Christmas from commercialism turns into an abduction of the Big Man as she hopes to set things right

It's a zany ride that is made all more steamy by the icy touch of Jack Frost that burns so good; Pyr Claus that yearns to have all his emotions ignited in her hands; and Nich Krampus who is utterly gleeful to punish the little naughty elve.

Oh what delicious night this will be!

This book was awesome! The author put a whole new spin on Christmas while including so many popular characters such as Jack Frost, Santa, Krampus, and more. This is an RH standalone novel, it does have a little MM action involved as well. This is one of my new favorite holiday-themed books! If you are looking for a sweet feel-good Christmas love story this is not that book, but if you are looking for a steamy, laugh out loud, keep you up reading all night kind of Christmas book then this is the book for you!

This was a sexy and satisfyingly cheesy holiday RH that was easy to read and shockingly silly. For all of the cheesy ridiculousness that ensues, it's pretty enjoyable and a fun holiday read. I went into this story looking for something ridiculous and strange and it definitely delivered. I loved the perspectives from Noelle, Nick Krampus, Pyr Claus, and Jack Frost--they made a nice little group there and the scenes were quite steamy as well. I did also really get a kick out of the competition--ranging from cooking events, to tree decorating, to snowball fights. Parts of this story were kinda...weird...but it just added to the charm.
