Now in an extensively revised third edition with 65% new material, this is the authoritative reference on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Contributors examine the breadth of current knowledge on the mechanisms by which stressful events can alter psychological processes, brain function, and individual behavior. Risk and protective factors across development and in specific populations are explored. With a flooded PTSD market, this remains my personal go-to reference. This is a must-read if interested in developing a ground level understanding of the breadth and depth of this illness. Take your time with it, and read and digest it over time. This handbook would make a wonderful addition to any behavioral health library!
