Boys of the Bayou #6

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour

Rate this book
She’s been proposed to five times.
Five.
She even said yes to one of them.
And then broke his heart when she called it off. Not to mention her mother’s heart. And her grandmother’s. And his mother’s. And…you get the picture.

Paige Asher has now officially sworn off all dating. Diamonds give her hives.

All she wants is to be a yoga-doing, cat-collecting, vegetarian in peace. Away from her marriage-crazy family and all their expectations.

So when her weekend fling turns into a real friend and offers her a place to escape, she finds herself on his doorstep in Louisiana. And right in the middle of not just one family wedding, but three. Of course.

Charming, sexy bayou boy Mitch Landry gets stuff done. Whatever anyone needs. From alligator-sitting to getting a buddy drunk to showing a woman a good time to fixing a swamp boat, he’s the man. No problem. No drama.

But he wants a hell of a lot more from Paige than a temporary friends-with-benefits arrangement. He wants to take care of her. And her five cats. He also really wants other men to stop asking her to marry them.

But if a roommate and a few orgasms are all she wants, that’s what he’ll deliver.

He can just be her friend and not commit the greatest sin of all…asking her for forever.

Probably.

from Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour

“I can’t believe Mitch thought he was goin’ to keep you bein’ here a secret,” Kennedy said.

“Oh. Um.” Paige lifted her glass for a sip.

She tasted the sweet, peach-flavored tea and… sighed. But this time with pleasure. Damn, that was good. She took a bigger drink before setting the glass down again. “He doesn’t know I’m here. I wasn’t supposed to show up for another three weeks.”

Kennedy’s brow lifted. “Is that right?”

“Yeah. I… was coming for Josh and Tori’s wedding, but… I decided to come early.”

“I see.” Kennedy lifted her glass again.

“It’s not like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like what you’re thinking,” Paige said, taking another drink and wishing for some peach schnapps to add to her glass.

“What do you think I’m thinking?” Kennedy asked.

“I think you think that I’m either a crazy stalker or I’m madly in love with Mitch.”

Kennedy nodded. “If the spectrum is crazy stalker to madly in love, which end are you closer to?”

Paige set her glass down and regarded Kennedy. She didn’t know this woman. If she wasmadly in love with Mitch and was planning a future with him, she might think that she should try to make Kennedy like her.

But…

“I’m just here for the hot sex, the otters, and the wedding cake. Someone else’s wedding cake.”

Kennedy’s grin was quick and bright. “That is—”

She was cut off by the sound of heavy footsteps thudding across the back porch.

Paige’s heart thudded just like those footsteps.

The door opened, and then there was a pause.

“This is going to be sooo good,” Kennedy said, lifting her tea glass again.

It was SO GOOD to be back in the Bayou! Mitch and Paige bring all the fun, sexy times and family to their story. There is just the right combo of Mitch and Paige's story and the wedding planning of the other couples. And bonus, you get a sneak peek in to what is coming in Erin Nicholas' new series Gone Wild. This book serves as a great transition between the Hot Cakes series and the Boys of the Bayou meets Gone Wild. It's just so great! You don't want to miss this book.

Are you ready to swoon?

Mitch Landry might be Erin Nicholas's swooniest hero! Paige Asher, who's no stranger to guys falling at her feet, meets her match with a guy who knows not to pop the question on their first date, or even to call it dating...

Between Mitch, their crazy hot chemistry, and the inescapable Landry charm, it's relatively clear that neither Paige nor us readers stand a chance... Nor do we want to! Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour is an incredible read. It's the perfect visit to Autre, with a wink to Appleby and route 55. Paige and Mitch find the space and time to discover what they each need, and learn to navigate something more than one night ;) Erin Nicholas brings it home with this trip to finding their hearts' desires!

The sixth in Erin Nicholas's Boys of the Bayou series, Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour also intersects with her incredible Hot Cakes series (coming after the fifth and sixth books, Oh, Fudge and Gimme S'more).

Paige Asher is SO over proposals.  She's been on the receiving end of as many as she can count on one hand, and that is five too many!  The problem is that she's only twenty-two, and while she'd like to enjoy dating, she can't seem to successfully do that in her little hometown of Appleby, under the watchful eye of her loving family, with guys she's grown up with, without immediately triggering the now-comes-marriage expectations.  So Paige is out.  No more dating, no more expectations, no more unmet promises...  She needs to get away, so when Mitch Landry, the hottest one-night stand she's ever had, offers her a place to be away, she packs up five of her cats and starts driving south.

Mitch loves his life.  He spends his days fixing and building and taking care of the people he loves the most, and is really content with that.  Until he takes a road trip with his cousin and meets a woman who he can't seem to forget.  He can't help texting her, and wonder of wonders?  She's seemingly into texting him back.

SO... buckle up, readers! It's time to head to Autre! And maybe we won't want to leave either...

My Title Says It All. My Updates did too! PEOPLE...if you love romance, you need to read Erin Nicholas. Erin Nicholas is a Genius in writing romance experiences you want to have for your own. She is able to key into what is truly important in life, relationships, our own insecurities that happen as we become who we are...and then has this ability to weave the teaching lessons into an amazingly funny, sexy, heartwarming tale.

She creates characters we want to come to life and spend time with. She sees what is important in parental relationships and will show their offsprings how to either cope or how to look at things another way.

I love the way she has taken a tricky concept, something that could have gone easily so off the rails and made it endearing, fun, and just enough. She gave us love wisdom from the older generation and the new love with the younger. She fought writing cliches and took on the appropriate ones and to quote American Idol OG Randy Jackson, Made Them Her Own.

This book is all about Mitch Landry and Paige Asher.
They first meet in Erin Nicholas' Hot Cakes series entry, Oh, Fudge (Hot Cakes #5). They connected, had serious chemistry, and had been texting since that first meeting.

Paige is tired of the pressure to marry. Not only does she feel it from her family, but it seems she is a proposal magnet, having just turned down her 5th...and she is only twenty-two years old. Now in her part of Iowa, it is in keeping to marry young, create your life and live. Yet, for Paige, she never felt like that was her path...The only thing she has been sure about was her love of cats and yoga once she discovered it.

So when one of her dearest friends is getting married down in the Bayou where her new "friend" Mitch is...Paige decides to go down early to get away from everyone. She has a plan and with Mitch, she can have her sexy cake and be promised no proposals.

Now when Paige surprises Mitch at his house, he couldn't be happier. He is Cray Cray about this girl. She is sexy as hell, smart as a whip, and Mitch just feels better when around her. He also knows he has to hold back any feelings he has for her. If he even hints at wanting something more than "friends with benefits" she will run.

So that is Mitch's task, make Paige feel comfortable, have her stay as long as he can, and not have his family overwhelm her. A Huge Ask. But Mitch is going to do whatever he can for Paige, that is who he is.

O.M.G.

This Man, I Have No Words...well, I do but I won't bore you or share too much so it ruins the story. This man is loving, caring, and in my next life...I want him there. Paige is a good match as she is someone who is finding herself. She learns much from this Landry Family. Her time with them opened her heart, showed her what talents she had, and allowed her to be loved without catches.

This series is addictive like the other series concerning the Bayou and Hot Cakes. What is even more exciting...we are going to get more Bayou! The next series is Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild and the first entry is Otterly Irresistible (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #1). Guess who it is with...Tee Hee...
Yup, Griffin and Charlie!
I. Can't. Wait.

Oh my goodness, I laughed so much during this book. The words that come out of Paige's mouth had me snorting. Mitch is a fun, loving, sweet guy. He is a hard worker, selfless, and never asks for anything in return. Paige is a commitment-phobe. She is only twenty-two years old, and she has been proposed to five times! I understand Paige's hesitation on marriage after so many non-heart felt proposes, but I felt like she took advantage of Mitch. Mitch bent over backward for Paige. He walked on egg-shells to keep her from running away. All the demands she had, or thought that she wanted, ended up not being what she needed. I was glad to see that Paige realized how extra special Mitch was and found her purpose in life near the end of the book. The steamy scenes were spicy, and the company was entertaining—a great read and addition to the Bayou series.

What a fabulous story for Paige and Mitch. This book picks up right after Oh, Fudge (but not necessary to read to enjoy this one but why would you not want to read it?!?) and Paige has left Appleby to escape the pressure she feels from her family. Paige shows up on Mitch’s doorstep with her 5 cats in tow....3 weeks before he is expecting her. Mitch is in heaven when he sees her in his kitchen. And can I just say that these two are so freaking cute and sooo hot at the same time. These two do not ever hide their attraction to each other from the other person but they do keep their feelings from each other. Mitch is afraid any show of emotion towards Paige will send her running back to Iowa when what he wants is to keep her in Autre with him.
I was wonderful seeing everyone from Autre and seeing Paige find her way in this big, loud, crazy family especially when what she thought she wanted is the opposite of what she is in the middle of.
It was great to meet Mitch’s roommate, Griffin, who we get more of in a spin-off series- yay! And I will admit I am quite intrigued by Griffin and his grumpy gruffness. I am so happy to be back in the bayou with all of the Landry’s. This book was fabulous and I will admit I wasn’t ready for it to end, I loved Mitch and Paige.

Mitch Landry gave me a book hangover AND made me late for work. BUT he was so worth it! I adore Paige Asher for her innocence about love and all that it can entail. Being proposed to 5 times by the age of 22 can be off putting. Especially when it some of them arent even from a long term relationship. I can get why she feels pressured to settle down and have all the babies but is it what she really wants? She doesnt know what she wants to do other than yoga and to take care of the cats she cant help but rescue and protect. Mitch changes something in her she didnt even know she had.
Mitch is a do gooder for no gain. He helps every one in any way he can just to do it. He expects nothing in return since he was raised to be helpful and useful. His ability to help Paige comes in a different form. She needs the time away from her family and her home town and he can do that for her. Her town of Appleby, Iowa has everyone shes ever known and her story is combined with them all. Autre, Louisiana can be a new chapter in her life. Mitch's story is all in Autre and new.
I love the revelations they both have. Erin Nicholas has such an ablitiy to have us fall in love with her characters and want so much more for them that i yearn for their HEA. These two though? I cried for theirs. I really connected to this couple and what they do for everyone else to the point of not getting what they need. I loved them in Oh Fudge ( you dont have to read this but it is the start of them and is a quick read) and adored how Mitch interacted in Appleby. Both books together show their personalities and how generous they are and how well they fit together.

This is book 6 in the Boys of the Bayou series but it’s also a series cross over with the Hot Cakes series. Mitch is from Autre, Louisiana, a tiny town on the bayou where he does general repair and anything else his family needs for the Boys of the Bayou swamp boat tour company owned by his cousins (Boys of the Bayou series). Mitch likes being behind the scenes taking care of things and being whatever people need. He does not ask for things or call attention to himself. His father always told him “Be helpful, be grateful, make yourself useful, make them glad to have you around” and that’s his life motto. Paige owns a yoga studio/cat adoption center cafe in small town Appleby, Iowa (Sweet Cakes series). Paige is not interested in forever despite her interfering family and being proposed to five times. Paige does not do commitments or promises to avoid her guilt and other’s disappointment. Six months ago Mitch and Paige had a one night stand while he was in Iowa with his cousin and his cousin’s fiancée and they had another one night stand when Mitch came back into town to visit Paige. Paige has agreed to visit Mitch in Autre to be his date for his cousin wedding to Tori. This is where our story starts - Paige just got proposed to again at her sister’s wedding and she decides she is going to run away to Autre three weeks early - without telling Mitch - with 5 of her cats in order to get away from all the Appleby folks who want her married off and the Appleby men who keep proposing to her. In order to get to their HEA, Mitch and Paige each have to do some growing individually and learning to deal with stuff about commitment, asking for what they need, and deciding who they want to be. The story has plenty of hilarity, steamy scenes, sweet moments, and small town goodness and, like all of the stories in this series, it is filled with loud, larger than life characters and situations, simmering and overwhelming feelings, and so many cute animals, all wrapped up in so much heart squeezing love. It is so much fun to get immersed in the insanity that is Autre and its inhabitants, that it is really sad to finish the book and have to leave that fun world behind. Erin Nicholas excels at creating beautiful, rich, loving and fun small towns populated by secondary characters who enhance the main love story rather than crowding or detracting from it and Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour is further proof of her absolute mastery. I cannot wait to see what is next for the rest of the Landry family in the new series - Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild.

We are getting the Paige and Mitch story we wanted. We get to see a whole bunch of people we have grown to love in the bayou. That Landry family grabs your heart and doesn't let go. Paige learns this and a whole lot more when she takes a trip to Louisiana to spend "quite time" with Mitch.

Paige is young and needs to learn a little more about love and life. She doesn't think she will ever marry and she doesn't want anymore proposals. when she meets the Landry girls and starts accidently plaining their weddings things seem to change for her.

"History doesn't make you love someone. Loving someone makes you want to make history with them" quote by Ellie

I think when Ellie says this right here it finally starts to change for Paige. She starts looking at the stuff differently. She starts to see she is making history with people that she loves. She never put it into perspective. She just felt lost in a town full of people. This place she has found to call home.

I loved everything about this story. I had butterflies the whole time waiting on Paige and Mitch to connect on a deeper level. I love how everyone came together in the end. It was a great ending to a prefect beginning.

It feels go to be back in the Bayou. Mitch Landry, a laid back jack of all trades, always there to help some out and likes to stay in the background. 6 months ago Mitch went with his cousin and soon to be cousin in law to Appleby Iowa, where he met commitment phobe Paige. At 22 Paige has been proposed to 5 times from 4 different men, one of which she actually said yes to. After breaking that off and breaking his heart, as well as her mothers, Paige sworn off commitment and only wants cats for company . In walks Mitch Landry. Hot as hell, best sex of her life and bonus from Louisiana not chance of commitment. Paige must have missed the memo that the Landry charm is inescapable.
6 months after their hook up they are still texting and neither of them have been with anyone else. When Mitch shows up in Iowa again things heat up fast and furious. But Mitch does not want to let Paige go, so before he leaves he offers her a place to get away from everything.
At her sisters wedding proposal numero 5 happens and Paige is done, she needs out of Iowa and stat. So she packs up 5 of her cats and drives to Louisiana.

After 14 hours she shows up on Mitch’s door without telling him. I loved being back the the Bayou the Landry’s just suck you in and don’t let you go. This was everything I wanted and more. Once I finished reading I literally sighed. I want a Landry maybe one of the new Landry men we meet in this book can be mine, hint hint Erin 😉. So excited to continue on this journey with this amazing family. Can wait for the next book.

You will fall in love with Paige Asher and Mitch Landry as they fall in love with each other.

Paige Asher was on the run... with her five cats. She had left Appleby, Iowa in her rear view mirror and was headed to Autre, Louisiana. Paige had, once again, been proposed to at her sister's wedding. That was proposal #5! She was so not going there. She was only twenty-two and definitely not ready to get married. Her one-night-stand, hot hook-up, Mitch Landry, had made a second appearance in Appleby recently and had assured Paige that she was welcome to visit him in Autre any time. So here she was... surprise Mitch! Paige plans to stay in Autre for a while. Or might this be a permanent move?

Mitch Landry is the family fix-it guy. His mother left him with his father when he was a baby. His father was thankful that the Landry family was more than willing to help him raise Mitch. Mitch loves his Landry family and his place in it, but when he accompanied his cousin Owen to Appleby, Iowa and met Paige Asher he was done for. It was love at first sight. Too bad Paige is a major commitment-phobe. When Paige arrived in Autre to take Mitch up on his invite to stay with him for as long as she wanted Mitch was quite surprised. Getting his family to stay cool and not push Paige was important. Mitch didn't want to scare Paige away.

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour by Erin Nicholas is the sixth book in her Boys of the Bayou series. This author always writes very likable characters and sprinkles lots of humor throughout her stories. I liked both Paige and Mitch. Paige managed to find herself once she ran away from Appleby and learned who she really was without family expectations. Mitch needed to respect himself and his place in the Landry family. Thus Mitch needed to get past where his father placed him in the family with his admonishments that Mitch should - Be helpful, make himself useful , be grateful and be sure to make people happy that you're around." I loved seeing how these characters grew and found their best selves with each other. The stories of the Landry family and Autre in the bayou are lots of fun to read.

Oh my!! Paige and Mitch are too cute for words. I’m now sure how Paige ever thought the Landry family couldn’t get under her skin. This is a fabulous story about accepting not only who you are but those around you! May we all find our safe landing!

We're headed back to the Bayou and I could not be more excited!!

I love Erin Nicholas 's Boys of the Bayou and Hot Cakes series so I was thrilled when Bayou Hottie, Mitch Landry fell for Hot Cakes's cat-loving, yoga instructor Paige. Their story started in Oh Fudge!  but they where still many, many miles apart, literally and figuratively.

In Four Weddings, they are reunited and the sparks fly! As the weeks go by these former commitment-phobes must decide if what they have is worth risking their hearts.

This story made my heart happy. So much fun banter, so many steamy moments,  so many otters, so many weddings, it all just added up to a very fun, sexy, fantastic book that I wished didn't have to end. I would give ten stars if I could!!

This is probably one of my favorite books by Erin Nicholas. Paige and Mitch are such a good fit and a wonderful couple. I really like the development of Paige's character. Mitch does what he can to make Paige happy even when it means hurting himself. Paige arrives early in Autre after fleeing Appleby after yet another proposal. Mitch is happy to see Paige, even though she is 3 weeks early and has 5 cats in tow. Paige learns a lot about herself in her time in Autre and even gets close to the Landrys. Definitely ending on a high note!

This is sixth in a series and the other couples are scattered around like fluff after a pillow fight in a teen flick. If it were me, I'd want to have read the others first. Also, it was fun to see so many of those couples get married in this book. Fun times.

Okay, this book is all about Mitch. I mean, my engagement with it is. He's so very much my jam. I love the competent guy who cares about and for those around him and Mitch is that in spades. He's thoughtful and supportive. And he gets things done. That's like, the ultimate in book boyfriend material right there. Add a Southern accent and I'm a goner.

It really is too bad that Paige sucked so much. And I don't really mean as a character. Not really. I mean, she's great for Mitch and I loved seeing them together. And I liked her personality and willingness to throw herself into new places and people. She won my heart entirely when she bonded with Clara over herbal remedies, for example.

But the author chose to give Paige an irrational, and huge, negative motivation* to make this a book rather than a pamphlet. Like, if negative motivation were a movie monster, this one would terrorize Tokyo in the 50s. So the story dragged like an adult-sized plushie behind a toddler.

I'm giving it a very generous three stars because Mitch. Seriously, that guy...

A note about Narrators: Most of this takes place in the bayou, so there's more than a little of that accent present. Alan Carlson knocked it out of the park and that's no small reason I stuck this out. Even better that he kept the accent for the narration as he was voicing Mitch. He's not great at voicing women, but I did. not. care. Lili Valente was adequate, but not nearly as strong on the regional bits. She was very strong on every other aspect, though. So a bit of a contrast there.

A note about Steamy: There are a couple of explicit sex scenes, but they're front-loaded in the story so I wondered if this were going to be a romp. It's not and comes in at the middle of my steam tolerance. They're a bit over the top, but they kind of needed to be because the story leans heavily into their physical compatibility to overshadow the actual intimacy. Which is actually well-done now I think about it and that part mostly worked. Maybe not as weak a three stars as I thought? Nah, still weak. Really weak.

* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back (or, if that link doesn't work, here's a cache of the original) and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

5 Star Review of Four Weddings and A Swamp Boat Tour (Boys Of The Bayou #6) by Erin Nicholas
It was great to be back in the bayou. As I have come to expect from an Erin Nicholas’s book Four Weddings and A Swamp Boat Tour (I just love the name) was an entertaining read that ticked all the boxes for me.
This is Paige Asher and Mitch Landry’s story and what a fun story it was. The banter was witty, the characters easy to relate too and I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions. I fell hard and fast for Mitch, he is totally swoon worthy, whilst Paige is a woman I could see as a friend.
When they embark on a friends with benefits relationship, you just know that the crazy Cajun families are going to do what they do best and interfere. Ironically it is Mitch who wants a real relationship but Paige has sworn off relationships, happy to focus on her cats.
At the heart of this story is love and family, they are there for one another no matter what and I love this.
Can Mitch convince Paige to take a chance on him and forever? One click and find out.

I have enjoyed all of the books in the Boys of the Bayou series and in the Hot Cakes series. Author Erin Nicholas has a way of building community and family in every book. I didn’t think any other story in either series could top Piper and Ollie, but this one does for me. Mitch is so used to trying to not be a burden, and Paige is so used to trying not to be manipulated, that they miss how much love they have every day. They don’t trust it. Watching Mitch and Paige come into their own with all of the big personalities in the Landry area of the bayou was fun. They might just teach you a thing or two about the unselfishness of real love!

Bringing a hot cakes character and a boys of the bayou character together might sound odd and impossible. But Erin Nicholas pulls it off with her great witty dialogue, great character development and the loud, loving Landry family. It was such a great read. Full of the usual sass and wittiness but also a lot of heart felt moments. And great to get back to the Landry family and see how things have been developing. Lots of weddings! A perfect bow to tie both series. Can’t wait for the new one.

This book made me want to go back and visit New Orleans again as soon as I can! Especially during a time of the year when it’s not so hot you’re dripping sweat just by stepping outside, which I understand isn’t very many months of the year. It also made me want to see if there really are night time swamp boat tours! And as soon as I googled about that, I started seeing ads for it on Facebook.

The story was sweet and just perfect. I liked that like in another book I read recently the heroine was able to be someone just into having fun and wasn’t looked down on for not wanting to be serious. However I loved his family! I would love to be a part of the Landry family in this story. The steamy bits were steamy and perfect for this as well. I got a little mad at him for letting her go so easily at one point. But it all worked out so that both of them could grow.

My only dislike from this is that it was 3rd person. It was done in a way that was good, but I do prefer to read 1st person for my romance. Other than that I loved the story and look forward to reading more in the series at some point!

Well, well, well, it seems a trip to Autre, LA, and the loud, crazy, loving Landry clan is just what Paige Asher needs to gain a new perspective on life. She loves her family and home in Appleby, IA, but she's tired of feeling like she has to live up to everyone else’s expectations. And she's really tired of being proposed to every time she turns around. But she's in danger of turning into a yoga-teaching, vegetarian, cat lady, so heading to the bayou a few weeks early for her best friend's wedding sounds like a great plan.

Plus she'll get to see Mitch. And kiss Mitch. And do all kinds of other delicious things with Mitch. And he should be safe, because he knows the last thing she's looking for is a relationship. Not that she's opposed to the benefits, of course.

Mitch is just a little concerned that his family might be overwhelming to a girl who's trying to escape people and expectations. But they can definitely use Paige's help with the swamp boat tours and the new petting zoo, and the Landrys welcome her with open arms.

The thing I love about Mitch and Paige’s story is seeing them learn new things about themselves. Mitch is a guy with a heart of gold who will do anything for anybody, and spends most of his life doing so. But it seems the Landrys have a thing or two to teach Mitch about being a part of this clan. As for Paige, well, these Landrys are like nothing she's ever seen, but observing them as an outsider teaches her a few things about her own family dynamics.

This is one of my all-time favorite book worlds to visit! The Landry family is big and messy but so full of love, even when they're butting in to each other’s lives, and I adore every last one of them. This is the first book in a spin-off series so you’ll get to meet or revisit many of the characters from the other books. If you’ve met them before it's a great chance to catch up on their lives, and if you haven’t met them previously it will definitely whet your appetite for more.

What they say about potato chips is true for these bayou romances and you won’t be able to stop at just one. So settle in for a phenomenal romcom full of fun, feels and four-legged cuties that will steal your heart and leave you smiling!

This story is so very good. I mean the road trip with the cats started off this great book and of course the Landry family themselves, I have missed them and Autre and it was like coming home again when we got to see everyone. For Paige this was going to be something she wasn’t used to - - the big family, the loud opinions, different food and what if she had made a mistake by showing up unexpectedly. Loved this story so much and seeing how things progressed between Paige, Mitch, and the family. We saw lots of old friends and met some new ones and I want to say so much more, but don’t want to ruin the surprises for those who haven’t had the opportunity to read this book yet. Suffice it to say, if you are an Erin Nicholas fan, like I am, this story is everything and if you are new to Erin Nicholas, you will definitely become a fan after reading it. My only disappointment was I wanted more with everyone, especially Paige and Mitch. Superb story.

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour has everything that I have come to expect from Erin Nicholas! Great characters, fun banter, swoon worthy moments and the best of all, family! I love getting to spend time with this crazy cajun family. They are so much fun! They care deeply for one another and they give everyone a sense of belonging which explains why everyone who comes to Autre seems to want to stay and be a part of this family. Will The Landry clan and more importantly Mitch, give Paige a reason to stay too?

I LOVED THIS ONE!
TOP READ OF 2021!

In My Own Words:

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour by Erin Nicholas is the sixth book in the Boys of the Bayou series. This swoony romance can be read as a complete standalone. Believe me when I say, if you do intend on reading this as a standalone, you're going to have to fight the urge to binge the whole damn series in the end! Holy hell, I really want to marathon the first five books!

Paige Asher hasn't had a good track record where marriage proposals are concerned, and having been proposed to six times can very well leave a woman jaded and skeptical. That's why Paige has sworn off marriage and no one in this world will change her mind.

Mitch Landry's roots are planted in Autre, Louisiana and there is nowhere in this world he'd rather plant them. He's a bayou boy through and through and he doesn't see that changing anytime soon. Or so he thought.

One trip to Iowa with his friend has him wanting and craving to plant roots elsewhere. Ever since he met Paige something feels like it's missing in his life, and being back in Louisiana he comes to the realization it's not a something, it's a someone. So when Paige lands on his doorstep, he sees it only as a sign from fate. However, Paige Asher is a flight risk and he'll do whatever it takes for her to find the comfort she unknowingly needs and craves within him. Even if it means holding back all of his feelings for her. He'll do whatever it takes to be the person she needs.

My Thoughts:

I can count on one hand how many books I've read by Erin Nicholas, and after reading Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour, I'm finding that fact incredibly sad. I have this sudden craving to binge all of Erin's words! If the rest of her novels are anything like Mitch and Paige's story, I wouldn't classify that fact as a hardship at all!! I love how detailed this novel is, at times I felt I was standing on the sidelines watching Mitch and Paige's relationship plant roots and grow. There's no doubt about it, I loved every moment of Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour!

Now let's get to what I loved about this novel!
First off, let's talk about the AMAZING chemistry between all the characters! I love novels that incorporate strong family values and connections. The Landry family is as close as close can be. There the type of people who are willing to drop everything and show up when you need them the most. I loved their wild antics and their ability to open up and let outsiders into their group with open arms. This family is simply amazing, and I feel the more I read this series, the more I'm going to fall for these individuals.

Second, let's talk about the chemistry between Paige and Mitch! These two are so flirtatious, the smile on my face was never-ending! I loved these two for everything they stood for and for everything they fought for. After years of feeling like a disappointment in her families eyes, Paige finds herself fleeing her small town of Appleby, Iowa and heading down south where the climate is....hotter. I loved getting an front row view into Paige's thoughts and the way she processed situations. It's no wonder this woman is so afraid of settling down with all the pressure and guilt she felt on a daily basis. My heart hurt for this woman on so many different levels. I wanted her to be happy, and the more time she spent with Mitch and his family, the happier she became and my smile only grew from there!

Mitch is a special class of male. This man isn't a manwhore and he isn't a playboy. This man is the *boy next door*, he's sweet and understanding. He's polite and willing to help out anyone in need. This man has so many layers and I loved peeling back each layer and getting an insight of who this man truly is. There is no denying Mitch Landry is one of my favorite characters of 2021. It's hard not to love and adore his laid back style and his charm.

Overall, I loved the way this novel came together! Erin Nicholas definitely has a way with telling a story. I felt the heart and I felt the heat! There is no doubt about it, I will be coming back to read the first five books in the Boys of the Bayou series. I am dying to see the relationships unfold. I'm greedy, I want more!

This is a continuation of the romance between Paige and Mitch that was introduced in the novella which preceded this story. In the novella Mitch travels to Iowa to hang out with Paige. In this story Paige travels to Louisiana where she is thrown head first into that Bayou culture that forms the framework of this series of romances. Paige's main issue in her relationship has always been her hesitancy to form permanent attachments because ... someday she might break up with the guy and break his heart? I guess? She's been proposed to A LOT. Most of the proposals seem stupid, but one in particular seemed like it would have made sense in most cases. But Paige breaks things off, breaking her boyfriend's heart in the process, so she's done with the whole marriage thing, at least for now. Getting away from Iowa and what she perceives to be meddling family members lands her on Mitch's doorstep. Mitch is pretty much the perfect guy ... someone who lives to help the world around him and is patient enough to wait for Paige to get her crap together, not pushing her into a relationship unless she is ready for one. In my opinion he was a little too patient with her, but it all worked out in the end.

My thoughts:

This book was WAY better than the novella. While the novella heavily emphasized the physical chemistry between these two, this book allows us to get to know them on a deeper level. It makes for a much more interesting story. I normally get VERY irritated with girls (it's usually the girls in these stories) who are unwilling to commit because maybe someday something bad might happen. Despite all the amazing things going on in their relationship they refuse to call it a relationship. Luckily, in this one I didn't feel the irritation. I think it is because it is so obvious from the very beginning that Mitch and Paige are in love. They both know that it is love. And the only thing holding them back is that Mitch believes that Paige is still relationship shy, and so he doesn't push the matter. It ends up working for me.

This is another standalone book, but there are a gazillion characters (some from two different series) and so there is A LOT of explanation of who everyone is and how their relationships have evolved. It probably wouldn't have been too horrible if I had read this as they were published with time in between, but because I was binge listening to the audio books, I got a little impatient about all the exposition. Still, I am giving this one four stars. The narration of the audio book was lovely, and I ended up really liking the (mostly) end of this series. I wouldn't mind checking out these people again some day. The bayou culture and the way this family loves love was lovely.

Oh wow! This was the perfect blend of sweet, fun, sexy and funny! And let’s not forget the otters!! Oh and the weddings! I love that Erin Nicholas did a little series blending for this special couple. Mitch and Paige’s story began in Appleby, Iowa in the Hot Cakes novella Oh Fudge and continues here in this wonderful full length story in Autre,Louisiana in the Boys of the Bayou series.
This turns out to be such an amazing love story for two of the sweetest people. It is also chock full of all the wonderful, fun and charming characters that we’ve come to know and love throughout this series.
Paige’s trip to the bayou for Tori’s wedding and to spend some quality time with Mitch (wink wink) happens earlier than she was planning after one too many proposals. She originally plans to stay for a while before continuing on her journey to have some alone time to find herself. But much to her surprise she ends up finding everything she was looking for right there on the bayou with Mitch and the rest of his loud but loving and accepting family. Mitch is such an amazing man who will do anything for anyone at anytime, no matter what. He is quite smitten with Paige but he knows from the beginning that he has to tread very lightly or he will spook her for sure. Luckily he is a patient man. Their chemistry is through the roof which makes for some hot and spicy times for sure when his family isn’t running interference that is.
I absolutely adore every little thing about their journey to a HEA that is just perfect for them.

Mitch ❤️

That could honestly be my whole review, but I should probably add a bit more. I’ve loved this series from the start. There hasn’t been a character I didn’t love, who didn’t make me laugh, cry a tear or two or make me swoon just a bit. Every Landry has felt like an old friend in just a few pages.
Mitch is different. He is that guy you want to spend your life with. He’s just that good guy...the one who puts yours, and everyone else’s, interests first. Not because he’s a pushover or a wimp. Mitch is thankful for everyone in his life and he wants to show them how much they mean to him by making their lives easier. Always and in every way he can. He’s a keeper.
Paige isn’t looking for a keeper. She and Mitch connected first in Oh, Fudge, and it was great. They were fun and sexy, not serious but seriously having fun. Adorable but seemingly opposite in too many ways to make it work, even if they wanted to.
But maybe they’re not that different. And as we all know, opposites attract. And honestly, who can resist any of the Landry clan. Certainly not Paige, try as she might. She not only grew to love the family, she learned to love herself, which was such a great metamorphosis to watch...from kooky, funny, free spirit to Mitch’s equal in every way.
So while I’m sad that this branch of the family has had their last story written, I know it’s not goodbye for the Landrys of Autry. I’m sure we’ll see many cameos coming up in the next series. But Mitch will hold a very special place in my heart.

Final book in the Boys of the Bayou series. There’s a LOT of references & appearances by folks from earlier books in the series - so this one doesn’t really stand on its own that well. I’d definitely recommend reading the other books first.

This serves not only as Mitch & Paige’s story, but also the wrap up of the series and an intro/launch to a spin-off series. I liked the way Nicholas combined all these without sacrificing Mitch & Paige’s romance.

Paige is only 22 and tired of everyone trying to marry her off. Mitch is the perfect compliment to her AND he’s respectful of her desire not to be tied down. His gentle and laid back approach allows her to feel safe. He’s just perfect.

The Landrys haven’t met a stranger and Paige is no exception. Lots of fun banter, sexy times, and planning 3 Landry weddings. She becomes a member of the family without being tied to Mitch… but realizes she wants exactly that. It’s a great conclusion to the series and for Mitch & Paige.
