Writing is not just a hobby for me, but a life-long passion. Since 1999, I’ve spent countless hours writing, editing, reviewing, and re-writing other author’s books as well as several full-length novels of my own.

I’ll be honest with you; the road has been rough. I’ve almost given up writing for good a few times. But I keep coming back to it, thanks in large part to the support of my readers. In my darkest days, or after some of my biggest setbacks, a quick letter from a fan or two has changed everything. And I am so grateful for your support. Now, I am more committed to writing than ever.

One of my favorite past times is reading the manuscripts or novels by struggling or upcoming authors. There is a fantastic community of writers out there who look to build others up rather than tear them down. And if I can help you along with your journey of being a full-time author, please let me know. I think the more writers we have out there, the better off all of us will be.

I absolutely love the creative process. I get tremendous satisfaction when I create characters who seem so real that a reader expects to be able to meet them one day. Or when I manufacture a landscape so compelling that someone feels tempted to plan a visit to that location during summer vacation. But the real joy for me is constructing situations where the protagonist has hard choices to make, where internal conflicts are so intense, it makes the reader second guess exactly what they would do if they faced those same dilemmas.

Young Nickle spent most of his childhood bouncing around in foster homes...however a chance encounter and a particularly green thumb sends him on a path he never would've expected.

Nickle discovers he's a dwarf in the sense that he has dwarvian magic. And from there he begins his adventure.

School, training and eventual graduation - he's ready to go out and prove himself to the world...but then he realizes that he might not be all-dwarf. That there might just be a different type of magic within him too.

I quite liked this story!

I listened to the audiobook and it was FABULOUS. I loved the narrator's voice and the way he conveyed the tone, excitement and so much more in the book.

The concept of this story was unique - we passed through so much time (years!) with Nickle but it worked really well.

I enjoyed the adventures shown and the various characters introduced - especially the kinda-sorta-maybe love interest!

The plot was definitely a wild ride and while I never knew where it was going, I was really excited to find out.

I definitely recommend this one!!

I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review

Great read. Very likeable characters and unque creatures. Some people just gin up old stories and slap new makeup on it, but this one felt fresh and unique.

Another great book. I listened to the audible book and the narrator was awesome. This young adult novel dives deep into a world of magic and wonder. Truly epic world building in such a limited time. Really brought it alive. I recommend this novel to anyone that liked Harry Potter, Percy Jackon, Artemis Fowl...(I think you get the idea). Nickle is a shy, introvert, who is pulled into an epic world.

Nickle Brickle’Bee by Sterling Nixon is a fantasy fairy tale kind of adventure that will appeal to readers aged ten years and older.

Set in the fictitious realm of Earthworks in the centre of the world, Nickle Brickle’Bee - a self proclaimed ‘odd’ boy, finds that he is in fact a Dwarf. He discovers that beings such as Elves, Fairies and Centaurs are real and that corruption is rife in the new realm in which he finds himself.

As an orphan on the surface he soon finds that in Earthworks his father was a respected member of the Silver Army. Nickle is then determined to uncover the truth behind what actually happened to both of his parents that meant he was left to fend for himself.

This is a gripping tale of discovery, battles, magic, chariot racing and corruption that not only entertains the reader with Nickle Brickle’Bee’s daring adventure but also shows that differences in race, colour or creed can be overcome with determination, positivity and kindness and of course magic. Where working together for the greater good is much more rewarding than seeking power and glory.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although there were times when I find that it could be a little long winded. There is so much going on that it is a novel that you need to take your time with it so that you can fully immerse yourself into the story. I would recommend this adventure for anyone, young or old who enjoys fantasy with a heavy dose of magic and mayhem.

Truly this book deserves 3.5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 because it was entertaining enough and became so much better the last 1/3 of the book that I will have to read more. I really enjoyed the premise of the book though semi-typical had an interesting feel. But 5/5 Sterling Nixon is creative AF. So many cool and thoughtful new takes on old boring tropes, creatures, etc... I simply wish the writing was a little more organized, more time spent on thinking structurally and working through pacing. Because they were a mess. Characterization is a bit trope-filled and typical as well. But the creativity and ideas make the entire book worth reading and by the end of the first book, you'll want to read more. Honestly, it is a good book and Nixon is super creative here and I do like these characters and hope that devoting more time to them in the future will be a great payoff.

This sounds wildly imaginative and genuinely fun. The quirky humor mixed with high-stakes fantasy makes the world feel colorful and unpredictable, and Nickle comes across as a relatable underdog dropped into absolute chaos. I love how playful elements blend with real danger, it feels like one of those stories that keeps surprising you while still pulling you into an epic power struggle. Definitely seems like a fantasy adventure with heart, humor, and a lot of creative charm.

Fun read, excellent world building

I choose five stars because it was a YA book that was perfectly appropriate for its audience, but I thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult. The world created by the author drew me as soon as Nickle entered EarthWorks. I found it hard to put the book down. The story drew me in, was well paced, and it was a complete story with a proper ending. However, it was also a perfect setup for future entries, which I am looking forward to reading.

A fun read

I read about anything. This kept popping upon my timeline so I thought I would try it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. There are a lot of poorly written books I start but never finish. I think this was well written and look forward to a sequel.

I didn't really enj0y this book so much as I endured it. There is very little fleshing out to the story or characters. I listened to this on audio and its narrated was not very good imo. Slurred a lot of words and over enunciated others. I may have enjoyed this book a fraction more but for the author. I actually returned the purchase on Audible...a first for me.
