Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

Tair is a man with a strong sense of responsibility and family. When he sees his happily married cousin Tariq is paying too much attention to one young Englishwoman that he calls Miss Molly Mouse, he feels he must step in and stop him from making a mistake. He can see that they share more than just a casual relationship.
Therefore, he decides to takes her as a captive to the desert thus effectively removing temptation from his cousin.
Also, to help rid himself of his growing obsessive desire for her as well. He will of course be seducing her.
Molly could not possibly be as innocent as she appears to be, she is obviously Delilah in plain clothing. This has to be the reason why he is so attracted to her, right?
Now poor Molly (aka Miss Mouse) did not stand a chance here against the very older experienced sexy devil with soul searching blue eyes.
Of course she falls for his seduction and honestly guys here, who could blame her!
The desert, the sexy hot guys saying all the right things with all the right moves...YOU WOULD FALL FOR IT TOO!
Now to find out what happens when the truth comes out you MUST READ THIS BOOK.

I loved this book, it had drama, redemption, passion, love and family.

Worth a read and a reread for me.
Safe with some OM/OW drama (that was mostly in their heads here).

I just did not feel the love. A little too insta-love and paint by the numbers.

The premise was great. Tair, sheikh 1, is suspicious of his cousin's, sheikh 2, wife's new friend. Sheikh 2 and friend keep making googley eyes at each other. It's not really a spoiler to tell you that the new friend, Molly, is sheikh 2's half-sister from the mother that abandoned said sheikh 2. The H ends up kidnapping Molly in order to save his cousin's marriage.

I could probably put this at a 3 star, but the hero was such a big, stupid idge as well as the heroine. All she had to say, ALL, was call sheikh 2, and he will confirm that I am his half-sister. Neither even considers that as an option. It's not until the defiant virgin manifests as a devirginized-virgin to the hero after a tussle with the magic p that the H has a ruh-roh moment.

I have despoiled you, pearl of the desert. My cousin, my family, my tribe and my honor require that I marry you in the next five minutes, or I will be parted from my magical man parts.
I paraphrase. Slightly.

Desert prince, defiant virgin? More like "dumb prince, desperate virgin".

Tair believes his married cousin and fellow sheihk is having an adulterous affair with Molly, so he decides to play hero and kidnaps Molly to save Tariq from her mousy, yet seductive clutches. He is obviously a believer in the adage, "out of sight, out of mind". The plan backfires, of course, and would have been prevented if Tair had just confronted Tariq. No, he'd rather risk being charged with kidnapping than risk a personal and political conflict with his cuz. Umm, like kidnapping his cousin's supposed lover wouldn't cause more conflict!? Stupid is as stupid does.

I believe the author meant to portray Molly as fiery but she acted more like a hormonal teen at times—even though she was 24 and the head of her employer's science department. A person has a complete right to act differently in their personal life than from their professional one, but making Molly gush over perfect idiot Tair after he'd given her nothing but cold stares and mean comebacks made her look desperate.

As if a stupid hero and a desperate heroine weren't enough of a turn-off, I also didn't feel the love or passion. Maybe they were hidden within the annoyingly silly and superficial banter, but I didn't have any patience left to dig deep.

Read this a long time ago, somewhere in 2011 and I remember loving the story!
Re-reading this brought back good old memories!

Molly James is a botany teacher of an all-girls school in England, and has come to a strange land to get to know her half brothers: Khalid and Tariq.
These two brothers are the sons of her mother's first marriage to the sheikh of Zarhat, King Hakim.
Her mother has since passed but her marriage to the King whom she divorced, left behind her two sons.
Now Molly is a guest of the king's party but she and her brothers have decided not to mention the fact that they are related - not wanting to hurt their father, because of his wife's second marraige, she comes in as Beatrice's best friend!

Sheikh Tair Al Sharif, heir to the throne of Zabrania, is Tariq's and Khalid's first cousin,
Unlike his father, his uncle, King Hakim is a ruler of his own kingdom who put the welfare of his people before his own while his father King Malik who cared less of the people and lived a lifestyle he was comfy in.
During the banquet, Tair notices the closeness between Tariq and the Englishwoman whom he refers to as Miss Mouse.
Thinking that this woman is trying to seduce Tariq, he gets furious and disgusted and more so because he seems to be the only one who notices the blatant closeness of the the two.
Because he cares deeply for Tariq and his wife Beatrice, he is determined not to let the little mouse who wears spectacles and dresses in potato sack, undermine their marriage so he kidnaps Molly and takes her to the desert.
He fights his attraction for Molly, but in the end he has no control and he makes love to her, he realises that he is her first and that she was really innocent but it's too late now, all this sets off a chain of reactions from her brothers and the king.

Molly considers herself plain in comparison to her step sisters and her friend Beatrice.
She has always lived in the shadows and now she is faced with the challenge of surviving in the desert with an incredibly handsome man.
What she doesn't realize is how attracted Tair is to her, and that he doesn't find her a "little mouse".
He desires her, and her vulnerability touches him in a way that no other woman has touched him.
She attracted to Tair from the moment he laid his eyes on her.
When he kidnaps her, she tries telling him that she is the half sister to Tariq and Khalid, of course he has no idea as to who she really is, and though she kept warning him about the danger (not directly, but in a sense, because her brothers become her protectors), Tair did not believe her and accused her of lying.
When his grandfather arrived at the camp, followed by Tariq and Khalid, the cousins had a row and Tariq demanded Tair to marry his sister but... Molly refuses.
As all HP sheikhs, Tair feels honour-bound because he has taken Molly's virginity and is duty-bound to marry her.

She wants true love and she found the arrangement barbaric and insane.
Well, she returns back to England and continues her life, but it is not normal any more, she is pregnant and love-sick!
Tair's love for Molly is amazing, he drops everything to see her again in Bea's birthday party held in London.
At the party, Tair confesses that he missed her and that he loves her very much indeed.
The end of the story was amazing:
King Hakim's announces Molly's true identity to all the people in the party while her brothers, Tariq and Khalid escort her to the front.
The King welcomes her warmly and wholeheartedly - this is then followed by Tair's public marriage proposal.

Loved both the characters here:
Molly is witty and funny, while Tair is alpha-sheikh, proud and determined!
Since I've read this one before, I had no problem with getting confused with the characters or places - it tends to be, if you are reading it for the first time.

Chantal: Thanks for the recommendation, I remember searching for the digital format of the books I had in paperback, and I just could not get this one because I forgot the storyline!

This started out so well. Hero thought the mousey heroine was having an affair with his married cousin. Nope. Hero’s cousin is the heroine’s long-lost half brother. She was raised in England and her brother stayed behind with his father the king.

Hero kidnaps the heroine in his plane and takes her to an oasis to ??? That’s all a little vague since hero is not acquainted with logic. It’s okay though – he’s great in the sack and the virgin, dowdy, brainy heroine actually feels beautiful for the first time in her life.

Alas, the story took a tedious turn when the king decreed they should marry. The heroine got shrewish. The hero turned beta. The heroine’s half-brothers become over-protective.

After the heroine’s time-out in England (where she discovers she’s pregnant) the hero realizes he needs to say the magical words and all will be well.

I wish the author had found a less-cliched way to end this story, but she didn’t. I think newcomers to the genre would probably enjoy this more than I did.

I loved it but there were moments when Molly confused me. Also, I got lost at the beginning with so many names and titles, especially because I haven't read the book prior to this one so Tariq and his wife just added to my tangle.
The initial angst was exquisite.

Thanks for the rec Emona, I really enjoyed it.

A good sheikh book with the typical sexy dominant Alpha male and I liked the heroine too. Although she was the typical innocent virgin she also had a bit of gumption to her and stood her ground. She wasn't seduced and them jumping into bed wasn't an accident it was something that she wanted too and wasn't afraid to admit it.

Recommend to all those who read Harlequins and especially to love that love reading about those sexy desert men ☺

This book had some cute moments and I liked it but the love in this story happened rather fast. Molly James is the hidden English half sister of Tariq (the future king) and Khalil who dresses like a dowdy, baggy "mouse." while at a dinner party, Tair witnesses some in his mind questionable looks between Molly and Tariq and somehow decides she's Tariq's mistress.

I didn't understand for a future king how Tair was really stupid and didn't catch on to the truth until it was much too late. Tariq has to be really bold to flaunt his mistress under his pregnant wife's nose and in front of his father, not to mention other family members. I liked Molly telling Tair off about getting married, but it seemed a stretch to going from being outraged that he kidnaps her to in the space of a few hours falling in love with him.

"Desert prince, defiant virgin" is the story of Molly and Tair.
When Tair, the prince suspects his close friend Tariq is cheating on his pregnant wife Beatrice with her mousy friend Molly, he decides to interfere and kidnap Molly.
What he doesn't know is the truth behind Molly and Tariq's relationship..
I was honestly a bit annoyed by the h and Hs banter. Things happened too fast, and the heroine was doormat through half of the book, seduced by her passions through the rest half.
Tair was impulsive but sweet/ stupid beta hero.
Average read, nothing special.

3 stars -- I am in epic book hangover mode, so I needed something I didn't need to invest in. I vaguely remember this one, but it's been a long time.

I enjoyed Molly's sass, and the way Tair seemed to bring it out of her like no one else. I even eventually enjoyed their strange bickering and stuff.

But wow, I was not a fan of how drawn out the writing felt. There would be these huge sections of either vague flashbacks or internal thought between dialogue, and I would completely forget that they were having a conversation. That didn't work for me AT ALL.

Molly James is an Botany teacher of the all-girls school in England, went to visit the kingdom of Zarhat where his two half-brothers live, Tariq and Khalid, The two brothers are the sons of her mother's first marriage to the sheikh of Zarhat King Hakim. She visited there to mend fences with his two brothers through her pregnant best friend Bea who happens to be married to Tariq. There was awkwardness but to Molly surprise his two brother warm-up immediately including the King she thinks the King would despise her because she is the daughter of his ex-wife second marriage but no the king welcome her with kindness.

Crown Prince Tair Al Shamal heir to the throne of Zabrania is Tariq and Khalid first cousin, his and his cousin's father are siblings, but unlike his father, his uncle is a ruler of his own kingdom who put the welfare of his people before his own while his father King Malik has milking their kingdom with his high standard lifestyle. During the banquet which was held by his uncle King Hakim's kingdom, Tair notices the closeness between Tariq and the Englishwoman who he refer as a Ms Mouse. He got angry with their closeness. So he thinks the English girl is trying to seduce Tariq, he got furious and disgusted that he is the only one who notices the blatant closeness of the the two, he does not want to witness his cousin's marriage to be ruin by a nobody like shy mouse-like lady who wears spectacles and dresses in potato sack. He is so convince that she want's to seduce Tariq so he decided to teach her a lesson.

He kidnaps Molly to the desert he was surprise to find Molly stubbornness, strong willed nature. She became feisty beautiful irresistible woman in his eyes. At first he fight his attraction to Molly and Molly did the same. She hates Tair for kidnapping her, although she is trying to tell him the she is Tariq and Khalid secret half-sister. (Ofcourse he has no idea on Molly's true identity, nobody knows except King Hakim, her brothers and Bea.) but still Tair did not believe her and accuse her of lying and desperate which later on he found out that Molly is indeed telling him the truth. Later on he could no longer kept his attraction to Molly so he seduce her to bed. When his Grandfather arrived in the camp, followed by Tariq and Khalid, the cousins had a row and Tariq demanded Tair to marry his sister which Molly refuses. She does not want to get married to Tair out of honorable duty, she found the arrangement barbaric and insane. So she refused and returns back to England and continue her life. Later on she found out she was pregnant.

The love story of of Tair and Molly is wonderful and fun to read although I admit I have difficulty connecting on the first part of the story but as it progress it gets interesting. Tair's love to Molly is amazing he drops everything to see her again in Bea's birthday party held in London. Tair confesses that he missed Molly and that he loves her very much and when Molly told him she is pregnant he is all over the moon. What I like best and I think he highlight of the story is when King Hakim's announces Molly's true identity to all the people in the party while his two half-brother escorted her to the front she was very happy that she no longer hides her true relationship to his half-brothers and that the King welcomes her warmly and wholehearted, then followed by Tair's one bended-knee public marriage proposal. Amazing :)

Desert Prince, Defiant Virgin kicks off with an exciting and intriguing first few chapters that set the bar for sexual tension very high, but unfortunately the story does not live up to the expectations that are raised in those first few exchanges.

Both Molly and Prince Tair are compelling characters and there seemed to be a fair amount of heat building between them. It's regrettable that their coming together seems completely unrealistic – even in the world of romance books! I expected more resistance on Molly's part than to give in so quickly to a man who would think the horrible things Tair does of her character. Not to mention the fact that even though he thinks of her as a liar and whore, he still wants to possess her.

Miss Lawrence's writing style is very fresh and her characters, including the intriging family of siblings I hope get their own stories, are well described and come to life for the reader. That makes the missing connection between the two lead characters so disappointing.

The story is a good one with some new and interesting twists, and the writing is quick paced and engaging, but I wish the story would have been further along before Molly and Tair did the deed – time for him to see the real side of her and question his assumptions of her.

I recommend Desert Prince, Defiant Virgin as a entertaining read, especially if you are a fan of Sheikh/Virgin storyline.

A fun little read, wonderful characters both of them. I especially loved Molly, I even laughed out loud during the part when the H is accusing her of being a wanton, scheming seductress and she's sitting there with stars in eyes, secretly thrilled at the idea that anyone could mistake her (mundane brown mouse with no excitement in her life what-so-ever) of being so dangerous and interesting. Not quite the response the H was hoping for lol.

The downside for me though, and I think the reason I tend to avoid M&B moderns, is the sheer volume of sex-looks, drooling, staring at mouths, hard nipples and people being 'slammed' by lust. It's relentless. At one point the h muses 'there are not enough superlatives in the world to describe this man' but I can assure you the author has tried to use them all. On almost every page we the reader are being told how sexy, godlike, virile, masculine, overpowering, luscious, gorgeous, yummy, hot and dreeeamy the H is. Yes I get it, he's a good looking man. We're also told on pretty much every page how the h is squirming with sex tingles, throbbing with lust, staggering about half blind and with her legs turning to mush because the H looked at her... it's just really gross to read and makes me feel a sort of disgust that she can't hold in her pussy juices for five damn seconds.

I miss M&B romance when authors were a bit more subtle about characters experiencing sexual lust, and where romance (as in ROMANTIC LOVE) took precedence over sexual lust. I'm no prude, I just yearn for romance without it being smothered in so much sexual sauce.

It was ok. The hero seemed like a good guy and was mistaken about his assumption but had good intentions. The heroine was ok, but while I sometimes like outspoken heroines I didn't like this heroine as much. P.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a hot and fun read. I was captured in this story's grip until the final pages. Both Molly and Tair were wonderful. There's an undeniable attraction between them. I loved their banters, and the chemistry was off the charts. I loved how wonderfully defiant Molly was and drove Tair totally nuts.

Overall, Desert Prince, Defiant Virgin was a light and fun read but had just enough sexiness and a bit of angst to keep my heart racing and get me worked up.

Typical plot...with the comfort that you could predict what was going to happen. Found that I got confused with the two main male characters, as there names were very similar and I was tired when I read the book, the book provides means to escape to a fantasy world.
