Mitchell is a dog who is the mailman in his community. He spends his day delivering mail to the various citizens. The only person who never gets any mail is Mitchell himself, which saddens him. He even decides to write himself a letter so he can get one. However things take a turn when he gets called out one day to deliver a special delivery parcel in the poring rain. As a result he wakes up with a serious cold the next day and has to take some time off. As a result his dreams are fulfilled. This is a fun book for the younger set. Actually I enjoyed it and I am definitely not young. It is easy to read, with nice pictures. A great book to sit and read with a child too young to read or for one just starting to read on their own. Happy reading.
This is a wonderful book about kindness and friendship. I have a son named Mitchell which is not a common name. He read it to his class and they all wanted a copy of the book. Our PTA did use funds to purchase several copies for our library. They had to re-order it twice as my son would go back to 2nd grade every year to read the book to them. The year we found out they are no longer producing this book was a very sad day.
This was a favorite of my oldest son’s when he was a toddler. I still have a dog-eared, much-loved copy, which I look forward to someday reading to a grandchild. (Lord willing!) It’s a cute, sweet story of a mailman (Mitchell) who feels under-appreciated, and how he tries to help himself. Later he learns he was appreciated more than he knew all along. Sweet book.
People like to know that they are cared for. Mitchell is a mailman, but he didn't get any mail. When Mitchell stays home from work he receives a lot of mail. He feels great once again to know that people care about him. Teachers need to help students feel cared for and loved.
No Mail for Mitchell is an excellent choice for a beginner reader. The vocabulary is simple but there are a handful of compound words that are longer. The story is adorable and I hope Mitchell the mailman gets all the mail in the world.
Fiction (preschool-1st grade) This book is good for beginner readers. It has a lot of repetition. It could also teach students about appreciation and manners.
This is a story about a mailman named Mitchell. He goes around delivering mail for all the animals in his neighborhood. However, he soon becomes upset that he never received any mail at his own. Towards the end of the book he gets sick and cannot deliver the mail for a couple of days. When he gets better he receives tons of get well cards from everyone in the neighborhood. This would be a good book for kindergarten or first grade students to use when you have students who are out sick. You could read this book with your class when you have a student out sick for a prolonged period of time and then make them cards afterwords.
Another beginner reader. This story is just okay. Mitchell the mailman is a good mail deliverer. He likes what he does and he performs his duties well. Unfortunately, he never receives any mail.
He delivers mail in bad weather and develops a cold. His boos tells Mitchell to remain home for a few days. During that time he receives a lot of mail from folks along his route with words of encouragement.
An easy reader book - so not that complicated in story or language. Just a story about a dog mailman who laments not getting any mail until one day he gets sick and has to stay home from work. Then the mail pours in from all his friends.
