Patricia Hubbell has been writing poetry since she was eleven years old. In 1998, her Wrapping Paper Romp was selected as a Parents Magazine Book of the Year. Patricia Hubbell lives with her husband, Harold Hornstein, in Easton, Connecticut, the small town where she was born. Remembering how much their children and grandchildren loved to bounce when they were very young prompted her to write Bouncing Time. "Bouncing is one of the joyous things little kids do," she says. "It reflects their constant enthusiasm."
From the cover (and the fact that it rhymes), I didn't think I'd like this book much, but my three-year-old and I actually quite enjoyed it together. My only complaint is that I think that books featuring toddlers should always be board books. Luckily my three-year-old graduated to regular books before this lost its appeal for him, but it's a very short window.
Such a fun book! The rhythm and feel of the words are well suited to the story of a small child making "music" by banging pots and pans. This is one book I don't mind reading over and over again to children or grandchildren.
Summary: Rhyming text imitates Baby finding pots, pans, lids, and cans in the kitchen.
I love this book! It was and still is a favorite of J's.
It is a fun singing/chanting text for toddlers and preschoolers.
Pots and pans, Pots and pans, Baby's in the kitchen With the pots and pans. Grab those lids! Clang those pans! Baby's in the kitchen With the pots and pans.
This book contains the "p" sounds at the beginnings of words 21 times. It has realistic illustrations and a real activity that most children would enjoy! Let them play!
This book is fun to read because of the terrific rhythm. We like to read this book and then play "drum" with a pot lid and a wooden spoon. Open up your cupboards and play!
