When I Wear My Mask

Little Abigail helps children understand why it is so important to wear a mask, and shows them that wearing a mask shouldn’t have to stop anyone from being themselves… Just like countless children around the world, little Abigail misses her Grandma and Grandpa. She hasn’t seen them for a long time because of social distancing, but she is willing to wait as long as it takes to keep them safe. Finally, her mom tells her the happy news: she can visit Grandma and Grandpa at last! But on one condition – she has to cover her face with a mask. Abigail has many masks and when she wears them, she can imagine herself to be anything she wants. In these unusual and uncertain times, children face many unfamiliar challenges. It is the parents’ job to give them as much support as possible. When I Wear My Mask is a fun and simple book designed to explain this new situation to children in a non-threatening way, and show them that life under social distancing is not as scary as they might think. Children will feel more comfortable wearing their masks once they understand the importance of protecting their Grandparents, and the rest of the elderly population who are at greater risk than others.

Encouraging young children to protect the elderly and prevent virus spread...

More often than not children relate themselves with the characters of a good story. In such circumstances, reading fiction can help them to get inspiration from the characters. These stories often portray real life implications through anecdotes, and as such makes it easier for them to understand the complex aspects of life. Moreover, reading these stories at regular intervals can actually help them to develop a positive outlook towards life, which eventually proves beneficial for good character development.

When I Wear My Mask by award-winning and best-selling author Tali Carmi is an entertaining and reassuring book that encourages young children to protect the elderly and prevent virus spread while still having fun. It’s a delightful and charming book for the younger reader. I loved not only the story, but also the amazing illustrations by Neda Fuchedzhieva. I thought the text and illustrations worked very well together.

Author Tali Carmi writes in a wonderfully simple rhyming style that will guarantee the attention of young minds. If you ever wanted to bond even more with your children or grandchildren, this would be a lovely story to share with them.

It seems to me that this book was created with a lot of love and joy and it’s clear that the author really enjoys creating such wonderful stories. Thank you for sharing with us the gift that you have obviously worked so hard to refine. We’ll be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. A well-deserved five stars!

Cute rhythmic book both about the fun with masks, its importance especially during the pandemic with neat illustrations. Good read for children.

‘Today I don’t care which mask I am wearing, All that matters is the time I am sharing’

The talented Israeli author Tali Carmi is CEO and founder of a software company and a business coach focused on the fast growth and success of small businesses. She holds a B.Sc. in Food Science and M.Sc. in Biotechnology, and she is a graduate of a Team Management and Leadership program. The other aspect of her talent is evident as she continues her entertaining and educational series of children's books, handsome and richly written and illustrated series – the TERRY TREETOP series and the ABIGAIL AND THE MAGICAL BICYCLE series. Though the books are written for children ages 3 to 8 the characters are so well drawn and the stories so rich in entertainment, discovery, fantasy, imagination and learning that parents (or whoever is the fortunate reader!) will gain as much pleasure as the children. The illustrations are by Mindy Liang.

Tali’s sensitivity to the questions confronting children in this particular time of the global pandemic is evidenced by the theme of this new addition to the ABIGAL AND THE MAGICAL BICYCLE – Book 5. Not only does she address the COVID-19 threat, but she also embraces the importance of children’s relationships to adults, grandparents in particular. Tali’s writing is poetically presented and Mindy’s illustrations are superb.

In this story Abigail stares out the rainy window and thinks, ‘It’s been so long since I’ve been able to go To see Grandma and Grandpa, I miss them so!’ He mother tells her she can visit them - as long as she covers her face with a mask. Both a promise and a challenge, Abigail takes advantage of her magic by having masks with the faces of animals: when she wears a mask with the face of a cat she can perform cat-like actions. The magic extends to her use of masks of tiger, blue mouse, fox, lion, hippo, crocodile, penguin, bear, polar bear, zebra, and raccoon faces. But as she states after her thoughts of animal magic, ‘But today the thing that I most want to do is visit my grandma and grandpa too. For that I can just ear a regular mask, I can be who I want, I don’t have to ask!’ The message: wearing masks is important and yet can be entertaining, too!

The marriage of words and images is just right for this nice little story that celebrates kindness, imagination, and the love of helping others. Tali has given us books that all are fine lessons, told in a most inspiring manner.

Because of corona-19 Abigail hasn’t seen her Grandma & Grandpa for quite a while.
Mom says we can go as long as we wear a mask.
Abigail has lot's of different masks.
A cat, a tiger, a mouse, & a fox.
What masks do you have & will you wear them like you’re supposed to?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary; MS/HS age) storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (corona-19), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

It's a wonderful idea to create children's books that explain masks but this wasn't quite what I was expecting. The girl puts on animal themed masks and takes on the animal roles in her imagination, which is cool, but in real life it doesn't matter which pattern the mask has, if you're not using it correctly. I wish the book had explained how to use masks safely. This child seems to use the same mask far too long, eats while wearing the mask, touches the mask, and lets it get wet, and I don't think she's the best example.

kindle unlimited

When I Wear My Mask: Encouraging Children to Protect The Elderly & Prevent Virus Spread While Still Having Fun (Abigail and the Magical Bicycle Book 1) Kindle Edition -- 5 book series, deals with exocitic locations, though this one is a bit different.

please note the bad reviews are NOT based on keeping children safe, nor safety of elderly, infirm, sick, at risk, not stopping the spread of all this, no matter what it turns out to be/be caused by, bunch of knee jerk non-scientific crap that cares about no none and nothing no matter who all it hurts or kills.

It was cute, magical and colorful but did not go into detail about why we wear masks during this season and why they are important. It is implied but not discussed. I think safety of all should be talked about so they understand the why. It would be a great conversation starter to get the ball rolling.

Knowing Animal behaviors in a fun way

During thia pandemic, telling different animals' behaviors through mask is a great idea. It helps the kids to understand what different animals love to do and how human is special to do all of them.

Good idea

Using animal face printed masks to help children play pretend and stay safe. Different face masks for different moods. Doesnt talk about covid-19, but the point is safety and masks.

Cute book

It was a cute book, but the digital format was weird. I also thought it was going to help explain mask wearing to young kids.

Roar! 🐻 Squeak! 🐀Meow! 🐈

Yeah!! The girl is so very excited they are going to see Grandma and Grandpa today. This book has the girl discussing all her animal masks and what they do in the outdoors. Fun times are ahead for you when you are reading this book. You can make this book interactive by pointing to the animal word, it is on the child's reading ability, you can spell it and read it and make the animal sound. Oh yes! You too! Fun! Fun!
I highly recommend this book for all ages when kiddos are mask shy. Get ready to roar and squeaks. Fun! Fun!
