‘It’s something in your line of work,’ he said hurriedly. ‘It’s something…otherworldly. Please come. There is no time to lose.’A forest lures men to their doom, invisible hands smash crockery in a time-worn house, machines turn malevolent in an old factory, phantom laughter, whispers from nowhere, shadows that trail people – these are just some of the experiences that Sarbajeet Mohanty, paranormal investigator and founder of the Parapsychology and Investigations Research Society, confronts daily on the job.Tracking Sarbajeet and his team as they probe harrowing supernatural happenings across the country, these ten suspenseful tales move from a courthouse occupied by an insidious presence to a hellish riverbank where battles from the ancient Kalinga war continue to play out, to a film studio in Mumbai where a sordid past waits to be unearthed. Along the way, readers get a rare peek into the distinctive investigative methods used by the team to detect mysterious forces that exist in parallel realms. Narrated by veteran horror writer Neil D’Silva in atmospheric prose, the chilling accounts in The Spirits Talk to Me are spine-tingling and guaranteed to make you lose sleep.
Rev. Sarbajeet is the Co-Founder of the Parapsychology And Investigations Research Society, a Demonologist and Paranormal Investigator. Sarbajeet has been researching and investigating the paranormal for over 8 years now, with his Co-Founder Pooja Vijay and the team at PAIRS.
Without us even being aware of it, our homes and the furniture in them absorbs our energies, both positive and negative. It is these energies that give our homes their individual characters.
This was the third book that I have read which gives accounts of paranormal activities, and I have read one thing in common : Dangers that humans pose is always greater than that presented by any possible ghosts or other kinds of supernatural entities.
Speaking about this book, it gives true accounts, in form of 10 different chapters, of the paranormal investigations that were carried on by the authors. Although the paranormal scope is highly debated, but when you read these accounts, it feels like that energies do exist, given the scientific logical reasoning that the authors have presented.
In overall respects, this book revolves around the idea that the supernatural cannot be separated from the mortal realm; it cannot be dismissed as something otherworldly. The narrative emphasizes the coexistence of the supernatural with everything in its surroundings, existing silently and ominously.
The spirits talk to me is a collection of 10 chilling and haunting true accounts of paranormal investigations. Each account was extremely scary and evocative detail created quite a visually stimulating picturesque reading experience. These are by no means fictionalized story carrying imagined situation where stories are written purely for entertainment, these are real and true in every sense. Mr. Sarbajeet Mohanty and his team, PAIRS travel different places upon the requests of people who are experiencing unusual and unexplainable paranormal occurrences.
Some of these accounts happen in Odisha where I live in and I was literally shocked to read all about it. While I was reading this book, I was entirely immersed in it. A complete feeling of heightened primal fear accompanied by horror and dread of the unknown. Every case PAIRS took, it was filled with turbulent paranormal phenomena which for any other non - expert would be stuff of nightmares.
From malicious spirits to evil entity, read the book to find the most darkest and scariest paranormal investigations.
Almost most of the young adults and teens must have seen some horror shows claiming to air true stories or encounters with souls. One of my favorite shows was "Aahat" with a catchy tagline. These taglines were enough to grab our attention and made us watch every show they telecast.
Spirits and the presence of invisible force is an ancient debated topic with equal pros and cons. The moment I picked up this book, I wanted to feel the same and even better if possible. These stories are finely picked up from some of the horrified experience of paranormal investigators. Rate: 5🌟 The same experience and chill I got while reading it, I took more time to read this specific book because of stories and detailed narration. The narrative is so sharp, that you could hardly keep this book away. Paranormal investigator is a well known professional and these investigators work well as a medium between humans and ghosts. These people were known as superheroes in the '90s.
Contrary to being a book that covers 'ghost stories' or 'supernatural tales', "The Spirits talk to me" trace the investigations made by the author in domains infused with paranormal phenomena. The tone therefore is highly narrative, like a step-by-step lucid mapping of the investigation process and how they try to resolve the issues.
The descriptions given in the book seemed to be a monochrome version of the kinds we usually come across in the horror genre. This is not the kind of horror that looms large upon you, or makes you chilled to the bones with gruesome perspectives of the most mundane of things. Rather, these are the kind of stories that focus on the supernatural's connect with mankind, with the relation between visible humans and the invisible spirits. 'The Spirits talk to me' is a book that is pivoted around the fact that supernatural cannot be segregated from the mortal realm, nor can be swept away as something outer-worldly. It focuses on its co-existence with all the things around, silent and ominous.
The aura of the book isn't exactly horrific or too blood-curdling. There could have been heightened expressions of the way the supernatural was affecting the human body or the mind, in both physical and psychological ways. More could have been added to the story, more descriptions to garnish the narrative, more attention to special details that make a story worthy of remembering. A deficit of complexity was also noticed in the way the investigations were being carried out (judging by the narration), and as mentioned before, i had expected a more remarkable sequence of events in the stories.
Horror is the arena where our perceptions are challenged, where we combat our insecurities and dissect our fears. It gives fright a new look, nightmares a new perspective, and existence a new meaning. Judging by the sheer amount of wondrous creations that have come up under the horror genre in the recent times, 'The Spirits talk to me' kind of falls short in effect and impact, although it does give us an alarming sense of eerieness in our sensual, auditory and visual recognitions. Through the book, I was able to transport myself to dark rooms and abandoned alleys, meet the fear, and then conquer it.

If you are a horror buff and real life stories excite you like me, then you have to read this book. It is written very well and keeps you at the edge of your seat at every moment.
True Horror does not exist outside, it is inside of you. 'The spirits talk to me' written by Sarbajeet Mohanty and Neil D'silva is a non-fiction horror book which narrates the spooky adventures of Sarbajeet, a paranormal investigator and demonologist and host of 'Mana ki na Mana' on Kalinga TV. While I'm a cynic now, in my childhood I used to be extremely scared of the dark and ghosts. Still, there is a curiosity to know more and more about the paranormal. What are demons? How can dead people affect living? Do dead people get superpowers when they die? Does life end at death? The very concept of paranormal and ghosts denies the finality of death. That strong emotions can bind your soul to the material world is a terrifying notion on its own. That the world may be heavily populated with such tortured souls makes it even more so. Infact, a ghost could be poring over your screen as you read this! So, the book is a bunch of tales which took Sarbajeet to many locations, mostly in odisha and Bengal where he and his team, PAIRS, encounter apparitions, ghosts, demons and malevolent humans. It take Sarbajeet and his team to take brave decisions to encounter these things and help them pass on to the next dimension. There is a lot of explanation in the text about various devices and the techniques used to find and cleanse a place of ghosts. So, you're not going to feel lost. The only downside of the book is the cover which is just a Stock Image. No points for that. Overall Verdict : Pick it up for a hair raising experience.
We always wonder do ghosts and spirits actually exists or are they just a part of our imagination? We have all heard stories about the supernatural existence. Do these stories actually belong solely to the realm of myth or have they sprung from deeper truths? Finding answers to such intriguing questions always lies in the individual quests. Such quests brought Sarbajeet Mohanty and Pooja Vijay from Mumbai, two young people with a keen interest in parapsychological phenomena, together to investigate the supernatural existence. This book is based on the true accounts of their Paranormal Investigations. It contains ten intriguing stories about the supernatural experiences which makes one wonder about the existence of the other side. Sarbajeet’s own story, which features in this book, is an unusual tale of transformation and traces his obsession with the unknown. The stories are quite similar to the ones you have heard during your childhood days. But being reading such stories from an adults’ perspective gives a whole different meaning. Some of the instances were actually scary and nail biting. The language is simple and easy. If you are into ghost stories and supernatural experiences, The Spirits Talk to Me is a must read.
If you don’t believe that there are other dimensions to our world and that we share our space with other entities, this is one book that you have to read. (Read it even if you already believe). The book is a compelling narrative of 10 investigative incidents in the life of Paranormal investigators Sarbajeet and his team from PAIRS. Each story describes chilling encounters with spirits where the pairs team have connected with and tries to resolve angst caused to humans as well as spiritual entities. The compilation has been penned by Neil D’silva, a fabulous Indian author in the horror genre. The writing is impeccable and delivers the right amount of blood curdling and spine chilling at the right places.
The book reiterated my belief in spirits and energy exchange so there were several moments when I had severe palpitations and the hair on my neck was standing. I went extremely cold at other times and I kept my back to my bed all the while I was reading. But I somehow felt like the PAIRS team was watching over me and that I was in good hands. The book is a fantabulous read and I would definitely recommend everyone to read it.
The Spirits Talk To Me is a collection of 10 horrific and scary stories. These tales have personally been investigated by one of the authors of this book that is Sarbajeet Mohanty who's the youngest paranormal investigator of India. The incidents of this book are from various cities of India like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, etc.
The stories are about ghost inhabited houses, a riverbank inhabited by wartime dead soldiers, a studio where several women were taken advantage of, and more.
The incidents described here were so spine-chilling that I could not read this book at night. I couldn't stop thinking about these tales. I was intrigued to know about new facts and about the instruments used in investigating paranormal scenes. This book certainly taught me to be aware of the vibes around any particular place/area. The negative vibes are always associated with another world's entity. Coming to the language and narrative of this book, Neil D'Silva has crafted it so well. The usage of certain words has added to the oomph factor to this book.
I would like to recommend this book to people who are not faint-hearted or are faint-hearted but love to read and listen to ghost stories like me. 😂

Book: The Spirits Talk to Me: True Accounts of Paranormal Investigations Author: Sarbjeet Mohanty & Neil D' Silva Publisher: Hachette India Published: 2020 Genre: Non Fiction-Horror ISBN: 9789389253443 Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Introduction: Neil D’Silva’s The Spirits Talk to Me offers readers an unsettling yet deeply fascinating exploration into the world of paranormal investigations. Through the eyes of Sarbajeet Mohanty, a veteran paranormal investigator and founder of the Parapsychology and Investigations Research Society, this book combines gripping narratives with meticulous documentation of ghostly encounters. Each of the ten stories captures supernatural phenomena with precision, offering both spine-tingling horror and rational explanations that blur the line between belief and skepticism.
An Immersive Narrative Rooted in Authentic Paranormal Investigations:
From the very first chapter, D’Silva plunges readers into atmospheric, fear-inducing scenarios. Shadowy figures, disembodied voices, and inexplicable phenomena form the crux of these tales, while D’Silva’s masterful prose sustains suspense and dread. What distinguishes this book, however, is its refusal to sensationalize events. Instead, it balances suspense with carefully structured investigative accounts, inviting readers to question their assumptions and confront the unknown.
The stories include eerie occurrences such as invisible hands smashing crockery, machines behaving malevolently in an abandoned factory, and echoes of ancient battles that linger by haunted riverbanks. D’Silva’s talent for vividly portraying these incidents ensures that readers feel as if they are part of the investigation, witnessing the inexplicable unfold in real time.
Cutting-Edge Technology: Tools of Paranormal Detection:
One of the standout features of The Spirits Talk to Me is its emphasis on the scientific techniques and tools employed during investigations. The book introduces readers to an array of sophisticated devices used to detect and communicate with spirits, reinforcing the credibility of Sarbajeet Mohanty and his team’s work.
EMF Meters – Used to measure fluctuations in electromagnetic fields, often indicative of paranormal activity.
EVP Recorders – Devices that capture electronic voice phenomena, recording sounds and voices that are inaudible to the human ear.
Spirit Boxes – These scan radio frequencies, allowing investigators to pick up potential spirit voices and responses in real time.
Infrared Thermometers – Tools to detect sudden drops in temperature, a common sign of ghostly presence.
Motion Sensors and Thermal Imaging Cameras – These capture movement and heat patterns in areas believed to be inhabited by spirits.
Dowsing Rods and Pendulums – Traditional tools sometimes incorporated alongside modern technology to identify energy patterns and spirit presence.
The detailed descriptions of these devices and their applications lend scientific weight to the investigations, elevating the book beyond mere anecdotal horror stories.
Unmasking the Spirits: Psychology and Motivations:
D’Silva’s exploration of the psychological motivations of spirits offers readers a deeper understanding of why ghosts linger. Rather than depicting spirits as uniformly malevolent, the book portrays them as complex entities bound by unfinished business, emotional turmoil, or unresolved trauma. Some are protective, guarding their territories or loved ones, while others seek vengeance or simply attempt to communicate.
The author skillfully highlights the connection between human emotions and spiritual unrest, providing compelling explanations for paranormal occurrences. Through case studies, the book examines themes such as guilt, loss, betrayal, and obsession, making the spirits feel hauntingly human.
Haunted Geography: A Tour Through India’s Paranormal Hotspots:
The book’s stories span a variety of chilling locales across India, each with its unique history and legend. From courthouses occupied by unseen entities to decrepit film studios in Mumbai harboring dark secrets, the narrative seamlessly blends folklore, history, and modern urban legends.
Notable tales include:
The Riverbank of the Kalinga War – Where echoes of ancient battles continue to haunt the waters.
The Factory of Malevolent Machines – An abandoned industrial site where spirits wreak havoc.
The Mumbai Film Studio – A location steeped in scandal and sorrow, hiding layers of darkness behind the glitz.
Each setting is richly described, immersing readers in its cultural and geographical context while amplifying the eeriness of the encounters.
An Intellectual Approach to the Paranormal:
What truly sets The Spirits Talk to Me apart is its intellectual depth. D’Silva does not simply recount ghost stories; he integrates folklore, psychological theories, and scientific analysis into his narrative. The book challenges readers to reconsider their views on the paranormal, blending rational inquiry with spine-chilling anecdotes.
Additionally, it addresses common skepticism, providing logical counterpoints supported by evidence from investigations. Readers gain insight into the challenges faced by paranormal researchers, from debunking hoaxes to dealing with skeptics and hostile spirits.
Final Thoughts: A Must-Read for Horror and Paranormal Enthusiasts:
Neil D’Silva’s The Spirits Talk to Me is a masterclass in horror storytelling intertwined with scientific investigation. Its meticulous attention to detail, combined with gripping narratives, makes it a standout work in the genre. Whether you are a firm believer, an intrigued skeptic, or an avid horror reader, this book delivers an unforgettable experience that lingers long after you’ve closed its pages.
With its blend of suspense, history, and science, this book is highly recommended for anyone fascinated by the supernatural or eager to explore the shadowy realms that exist just beyond our perception.

I am usually a scaredy cat when it comes to Horror movies or darkness but that doesn't stop me from reading Horror and thriller. I have always been curious about things like this, Aliens, Ghosts, Rakshas. While there is no sure scientific evidence that these creatures exist, there is a ton of anecdotal evidence by people who swear that they've seen or even touched these things. So, it is this fact that urged me pick this book up. TSTTM is a collection of Horror stories that focus on investigation of haunted sites by Paranormal Investigator Sarbajeet Mohanty and his team at PAIRS. Jis investigations take him to diverse places like an Abandoned Haveli, a government guest House and even an ancient War site. ( A very popular war!) Sarbajeet basically investigates whether these places are actually haunted with help of Pooja Vijay's psychic abilities and then proceeds to purify these places with help of some interesting techniques. The language of Neil D'Silva is excellent and he's able to capture the essence of Horror as he is a seasoned writer of Horror book's like Yakshini and Maya's New Husband. Rating : 5 stars

This story is about PAIRS(Parapsychology and Investigation Research society). It has 10 stories which are the experience of PAIRS team which is adventurous, thrilling, cautious... The head of the team is the co-author of the book Sarbajeet. Each experience is different as each entity is staying in our word because of different reasons.
This was a nice experience to read this book which is well written making the reader read each story making us think what is different in it.
The story makes me think how the attachment to this world makes the entity no to go their realm after death. The pain and feeling of the entity identified by parapsychic were really making me feel. I loved knowing about each instruments used by PAIRS to speak with spirits. Will give a good experience about why the spirits stay withing this world and the daring experience of handling spirits by PAIRS Team.
"I believe humans have souls and I believe in the conversation of souls"(Quoted from the text). Neil D'Silva is known for his works in horror genre and his books are consistently listed among the top horror writers of India. I got inspired by reading Yakshini and became a fangirl for his writings. I dont believe in spirits but from childhood I had the fear for darkness. This book "The spirits talk to me" is an interesting and perfect read for late into night. Sarbajeet and pooja are the two paranormal investigators and this book consists of 10 investigative incidents investigated by the PAIRS team. Sarbajeet has a unique way of communicating with ghosts and spirits whereas pooja sense things which goes beyond sight. This book is eminently readable. The stories and characters are well fleshed out. I read this book in two sittings in late night. Few stories were absolute gem and heart knocking. I prefer everyone to give a read to this gripping horror feast.

An absolute page turnerand you can actually see those scees playing out in front of your eyes. You can't put it down. Definitely recommend this.
The spirits talk to me penned down by Neil Valentined Silva on the paranormal investigations by Sarbajeet. When I say investigation, I mean visiting places like an old spirited factory, a forest which attracts men as their prey. And that’s just the beginning— Sarbajeet, founder of PAIRS(Parapsychology and investigations research society) shares his experience as a paranormal investigator. Definitely a must read!
If u are looking for real Paranormal Investigations and thrilling stories..then this is the perfect book for the readers..best about book is everything is in detail.. the gadgets, psychological aspects, feelings and emotions running through each one while investigation...Stories are real and unheard than what we see on reel..
Had a great experience with the book. 'The Spirits Talk To Me' is such a piece that vows to eradicate false theories, superstitions and conveys that the metaphysical world is as normal as ours.
In "The Spirits Talk to Me," storyteller Neil D'Silva takes readers on a gripping journey into the world of paranormal investigations. Narrated by Sarbajeet Mohanty, Founder-President of the Parapsychology And Investigations Research Society (PAIRS), the book unveils ten impactful and dreadful moments when his team of skilled specialists encountered the supernatural. From drama and history to colonial India and ancient people, these true tales resonate with eerie atmospheric settings that linger like vivid visions.
Unlike typical horror stories, this book delves into the scientific aspect of paranormal investigation, lucidly explaining the use of various instruments. Through these accounts, readers gain insight into the coexistence of the mortal realm and the otherworldly, raising questions about the presence of ghosts and spirits all around us.
While some may expect blood-curdling horror, "The Spirits Talk to Me" offers a different experience by focusing on the connection between the supernatural and humanity. The stories emphasize the silent yet ominous influence of spirits on human lives, making readers ponder the boundaries between visible and invisible worlds.
Though lacking in heightened expressions and complex details, the book effectively transports readers to dark rooms and abandoned alleys, eliciting a sense of eeriness that lingers long after turning the final page. As Sarbajeet and his team navigate through haunted encounters, the book's narrative unfolds like a step-by-step mapping of the investigation process, aiming to resolve the paranormal mysteries disturbing individuals and places.
Overall, "The Spirits Talk to Me" is a must-read for fans of the horror and paranormal genre, offering true-to-life encounters that positively impact people haunted by the unknown. Neil D'Silva's masterful storytelling skillfully intertwines science and the supernatural, leaving readers with a lasting impression of the enigmatic realm beyond our senses.
I stumbled upon this book by chance on Amazon and got hooked by the subject. The book is about incidences of paranormal investigations done by a group of subject-matter experts (in this case, Parapsychology and Investigations Research Society, in short PAIRS led by Sarbajeet Mohanty).
The good thing about this book is that it provides a lot of insight into the process of paranormal investigations. The books also explores the equipment used by the paranormal investigations such as an EVP recorder, a full-spectrum GoPro, an EMP pump, a K2 meter, a PIR sensor, an EDI device, etc. Some of the techniques used by them to interact with the unknown, such as Recreation, Paranormal lockdown, etc., were very unique. There is even a mention of a cleansing herb (California sage), which all adds up to make this a book 'to read'.
In this book there are ten incidents about the team's investigations, all of which are well written and have interesting setups, such as an abandoned house in a police society of Kolkata haunted by animals and other things, a possessed girl in a remote Rajasthan village, a haunted factory in Gujarat where machines run on their own, a haunted tree forcing boys to commit suicide, a haunted Zamindar's house full of bonds, a haunted studio in Mumbai, ghost elephants from the Kalinga War and a government guest house in Orissaa haunted by a violent ghost.
The backstory of Sarbajeet Mohanty is also very intriguing. The partner, Pooja, who has psychic abilities is also mentioned in the novel, albeit not much is stated about her. She piqued my curiosity greatly. A epilogue to each episode would have given the work additional authenticity. Overall, it was a good read. However, it looks too good to be true to a non-believer (like myself).
Read this if you want to read a non-fiction book about Ghosts and process of paranormal investigation.
I got to know about this book while watching a video on YouTube. I haven't actually read horror genre books till now. So decided to read and purchased this book.
Sarabjeet and Pooja along with their team are doing good work in this field amidst the negative feeling and misconceptions in our society. Stories/investigations in the book really didn't scare me but definitely broaded my mind regarding the world of paranormal investigations. I was not a strong beleiver of spirits/ghosts/other beings, but this book has slightly changed my perspective towards them, even though I haven't had any personal experiences. Got to know so many things while reading this book. Surprising element, at least for me, was there are good and bad spirits just like good and bad people around us lol. The Haunted tree and the government house stories stand out for me out of the 10 stories mentioned in the book. The film studio story just showcases the society we are living in which can be very hard for young girls or women out there trying to achieve something in their lives. Most of the stories were predictable didn't surprise me to a greater extent. It was a good read and was a new experience to me to read a horror story rather than watching or hearing one. My prayers to all those who are suffering in these kind of situations and are not able to get out of it. Neil D'Silva needs a special mention here for his contributions to this book as well. Best of luck to Sarabjeet and Pooja for their future investigations.
I have always enjoyed and admired Sarbajeet's work and his narrations because of one prime reason - he always uses logic and scientific approaches and digs for proof to label any incident as really paranormal or not. This book is nothing out of the ordinary for him. Very well written, one would get an insight of how paranormal is just intimately intertwined with our daily life activities, and exactly how his raw feelings were at every new major turn in his life. He doesn't add in cinematic details or blow things out of proportion to create the backdrop of a really scary horror movie, but yet, very simply is able to capture your attention to the various happenings and phases that led him to his current self. He will also make you question, with his narrations, your uses about the paranormal world - the world that cinema has created for us. Paranormal activity in India isn't a "chudail" with open hair and white saree, but it's so much more. Understanding the paranormal world, and its connection with our world, knowing the importance of not messing around with spirits and knowing the importance of protecting yourself, and, last but not the least, just nurturing your interest in this field, this book is the perfect pick for a thrilling adventure into the paranormal world.
I binge-read this book! I recently came across Sarbajeet Mohanty's podcasts, which really fascinate me with his work and his paranormal experiences. It was from one of his podcasts that I learned about this book. The moment I started it, I couldn't put it down and read all 10 chapters one by one. It had such gripping narrations, spooky scenes, and bone-chilling experiences that made me feel like I was witnessing it all happening in front of my eyes. A real page-turner, indeed. This was my fourth book of this genre, and the good thing about this particular book is that it provides a great reading experience without leaving any negative impact on you that would make you question things around you. Justified my sleepless night.
My quest for Real Paranormal stories/investigation books in India started with this book today. With heavy heart, the stories in this book are just regional horror stories wrapped up in an investigative after tone with surprisingly complete sense of explainability for every single event, this is rather unexpected in case of any real paranormal event, I believe.
At times I found myself dragging through this But I could not convince myself to agreeing these are accounts of true horror paranormal investigation.
If you have any good books that can knock the ball out of the park in this genre, please let me know.
After reading a book on Gaurav Tiwari (which was also a fastread), I decided to pick up this book continuing my sheer enthusiasm in horror. I am so glad that it was also another informative book on ghosts, spirits etc paranormal experiences. I got to learn something new from it. And it enhanced my respect for this parallel world/afterlife even more. Also huge respect for Sarbajeet, Pooja and their team for taking such a risky task of removing the tension of human beings and also trying to help spirits attain peace in their afterlife. God bless you guys! \m/
I had been wanting to read this for a while now, and when I finally got my hands on it, I was thrilled to say the least. There’s no over-exaggerated tales, no hyped drama, but real stories and encounters that the PAIRS team have lived. Some of the stuff may give you the creeps but mostly it sheds light on the myths around paranormal activities and what we assume them to be. Such an eye opener this one! There is more light in this book than darkness, trust me :)
Truly scary. The fact that all these stories are based on incidents that actually took place makes you scared like anything. Neil D'Silva has again displayed is true writing skills of a horror writer. The choice of his words and the apt description he provides leave the exact amount to the reader to imagine and scare him/herself. An enjoyable read if you are into horror stuff. Happy Reading!
