Theirs was a love that defied the rules, sizzled with passion…then fell apart spectacularly….
Katya Marlowe, the Countess of Stanhope, was forced into a loveless marriage when she was only eighteen, became a mother of three before she was twenty-three, and a widow by the age of twenty-four, and before she hit thirty, she developed a reputation as a siren and a woman of power. But as clever and seductive as she has been painted to be, her heart has only belonged to one man.
Malcolm Campbell has been a fighter his whole life, willing to go to extreme lengths to support the causes he believes in. Ruthless, arrogant, and ferocious, he has dedicated his life to eradicating anyone who harms women, particularly the villainous Lord Shayles. But for all his fight, his heart aches for the one woman who he has never been able to secure, Katya.
When Katya and Malcolm team up in a final campaign to bring down Shayles for good, old passions and old wounds bleed to the surface. But can they keep their burning desire for each other in check? Can they put their differences aside long enough to work together, or will the fire of everything that has smoldered between them for nearly twenty years consume them? Will they learn to forgive the stings of the past and come together at last?

USA Today Bestselling author Merry Farmer lives in suburban Philadelphia with her two cats, Justine and Peter. She has been writing since she was ten years old and realized she didn't have to wait for the teacher to assign a creative writing project to write something. It was the best day of her life. Her books have reached the top of Amazon's charts, and have been named finalists for several prestigious awards, including the RONE Award for indie romance.
So there are a few authors I read that I call my “go to” authors. Merry Farmer is one of those authors. I have read all my "regular read" authors new releases and looking for more to read until the next group of new releases come out. Nothing against not calling her one of my “regular authors” because I really enjoy her books and always get a good read. I just picked up her books way later than some of the other authors I read. I like to know I have some good authors to fall back on and also I can actually read a whole series back to back and not have to wait in-between each new release within the series. This is actually my 14th book by her. I read her the first time when she wrote Second Chance Manor series that she wrote with Scarlett Scott and Caroline Lee.
I enjoyed reading Katya and Malcolm's story. I had really been looking foward to this story. I was curious about their history. Great read.
Malcolm and Katya I enjoyed reading this 2nd chance in love with meddling children and a few complications from their past. Their story has a satisfying HEA.
April Seduction, Book 5 of The Silver Foxes of Westminster, was about Lady Katya Marlowe, the Countess of Stanhope, and Lord Malcolm Campbell, Marquess Campbell. This was one story I wasn't looking forward to...at all. Everything I had read in this series where both Malcolm and Katya were included as characters did not endear me to either one of them. Katya had been forced into marriage at the age of 18, became a mother of 3, and was widowed all by the age of 24. Though she had, supposedly, always loved Malcolm, she sure didn't show it in her demeanor or actions. She had a reputation for bedding any and every man who crossed her path...and she enjoyed rubbing it in Malcolm's face, enjoyed making him jealous. Malcolm had been in love with Katya for more than fifteen years, but they were always at each other's throats and whatever happened that broke them up was still unresolved, no matter how many times he proposed to her. When secrets were revealed, life got that much harder for Malcolm and Katya. When Malcolm finally gave up, he did so royally. He retreated and was determined to get on with his life, leaving Katya and everything she stood for behind, only taking Cece, his daughter, with him. However, Katya's children weren't about to let her give up on him in return. Once again, everyone meddled where they should have kept to their own business. I hate that about this author's stories. She definitely enjoyed letting all of her characters run the lives of her two main characters in every book she had written. It was quite irritating. This book droned on and on, needlessly. There was so much fluff that it boggled the mind. It aimed for the main points of the story, but then it would veer away and head in a totally different direction, never quite touching on anything important. I was never more glad to see the end of a story than I was this one. While it had a good storyline, and there were plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader's attention, there were just too many other negatives to keep it from being a great book. I like a story that has enough meat in it to keep my interest, but when there was so much distrust, hateful words, deliberately causing the other to be jealous, vicious name-calling...all from the two main characters...it was enough to turn the stomach. The characters, though mature adults, acted like teenagers who were controlled by their hormones. For all the years they were together, they fought like Pitbulls...and not in a good way. Even the adult children were naive and intrusive. This definitely was not worthy of a five-star rating.
FINALLY! FINALY! Katia and Malcolm’s hot, fiery, sizzling love hate relationship! They’re love is/ was a deep one, even though both married different people because of circumstances. They never cease to rub each other the wrong way, the prelude to their explosive coming together. So when they join forces to bring down a villain that has plagued them from the beginning, fireworks are bound to erupt! I loooved these two they were sensational, I loved the dancing around their feelings while on their mission. Their kids were so involved in getting them together some funny situations had me giggling, plenty of intrigue smouldering passion and a much anticipated happily ever after! Merry Farmer outdid herself, this was my favourite of the Silver Foxes by far! I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
The beautiful, independent and outspoken Katya Marlowe, Countess of Stanhope enjoys her independent lifestyle. Married when she was only eighteen to a man who did not love her, she was a mother to three children before becoming a widow at twenty-four. Although now painted as a siren, she secretly only loves and has only ever loved one man, Malcolm Campbell. Lore Malcolm Campbell has fought for the rights of other all his life. He is ruthless, arrogant, argumentative and stubborn and yet he can be kind and loving too. As much as he loves Katya, she will not marry him and he cannot fathom as to why, but brought together again to bring the despicably depraved Lord Shayles to justice, their arguing becomes out of control. The history between Malcolm and Katya festers to a point where their emotions are also out of control, hurting one another deeply. Can their children bring them together again, can they get past old wounds and can they bring Lord Shayles to justice, only time will tell. This is a marvelous romp through this very entertaining book, so cleverly written by the very talented Merry Farmer. It is another captivating tale in this wonderful Silver Fox series. I really enjoyed it.
The long whispered, wispy relationship of Katya Marlowe and Malcolm Campbell is fleshed and quite complicated with their aged children. Malcolm’s daughter, Cecelia is being presented to the Queen and coming out for her first season. Katya’s son Rupert is of age and claimed his Earldom, her daughters Bianca and Natalia also have a bit to say in this romp.
As their future dawns Malcolm and Katya bemoan middle age, Rupert and Cecelia’s mutual interest is a further complication of their parent’s not so secret romance. That’s not Katya’s only secret. Shayles’ reign of sin is at a tipping point with ‘new sheriff in town, Inspector Craig Gatwick is still a wildcard and; new, floundering peer, Christopher comes to Katya for help.
All the running around, gossiping, jealousy and silliness makes a body want good old television! Rating: 3.75stars
This is a witty, sexy read that really delves into the love of two mature people. Malcolm and Katya have been sneaking around for years. Katya keeps turning down his marriage offers, after all it seems Malcolm likes to point out her downfalls when he gets angry. They both are holding onto old hurts and when a new revelation comes to life it gets even worse. It seems their love won't survive this time. His daughter and her children conspire to make them confess their pasts. I loved this couple and some scenes were kind of funny and really relate to things an older couple deals with in an amorous situation. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Another fantastic book by Merry Farmer I really enjoyed April Seduction this is a good addition to this exciting series. This is finally Malcom and Katya story. This book definitely has many twists and turns with some secrets, a real page turner. She is a woman of power with a bit of reputation and he is a man who believes in fighting and protecting others. Can two people with past hurts learn to work together? Will they finally bring down a common nemesis? I absolutely recommend this great story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I'm still a bit disappointed by the resolution, if you want to call it that, with Shayles. I really hope it all works out. I'm happy to say that finally Katya and Malcom are together. Their children are hilarious!! I love their antics. I hope I get their stories eventually. The only reason this book is only 4 stars versus the 5 I originally wanted is because the overarching plot isn't even over. But we'll see what book 6 does for the series.
Love love love Merry Farmer! While I will always love her Brides of Paradise Ranch books the best (I read several of those more than once), I am really liking her move to across the pond! She has a great talent for forging believable relationships, with believable hurdles to overcome. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
As much as I wanted to like this story, I've never warmed to Malcolm & Katya. They're just so aggravating, especially Katya. They're both so manipulative, ever since the beginning of the series, and that's a character trait that tends to set my teeth on edge. I'm glad they have their happy ever after but I don't plan to read this one again.
Frankly, I didn't care for either of the main characters. And that makes it difficult to give the book a higher review. There's another 3-star review that I liked, so I won't go into more detail. Both the main characters acted more like children than did their respective children. I did like the conniving kids, but not sure the marriage will be a happy one.
April Seduction book 5 by Merry Farmer The Silver Foxes of Westminster Series. An amazing, irresistible tale of family secrets, riveting adventure and heart touching romance. Keeps you turning pages to the end. My free opinion. Thanks.
Through the series a group of friends rush to each other's sides to solve problem in this winsome tale the problems are more between the two who can't admit their love and lead us on a Merry adventure.
I was fairly impressed with how fleshed out the characters were (disappointed at times at how certain things played out too) and thoroughly enjoyed the story. The overall Brady Bunch vibes lent a fun side to it as well.
It had action and intrigue and romance with a happy ending. Too many open door scenes and I wasn’t really into the hero or heroine attitudes personally
